About me:
I was born before the great war, I am not sure of where I came from. As a child I was taken in and raised by a noble hume family who lived in the great city of jeuno. The families only son Falkner was a brother to me he taught me what his father taught him about combat. By the age of only 16 Me and Falkner were enlisted into the San d'Orian Royal Knights. We have fought in many wars together since then and even seen many of our comrades and loved ones perish like a raindrop under the blazing sun.
Over the years Falkner and I took the paths of many jobs, Falkner finally accepted his role as a noble paladin as for me I wander this world searching for my niche teaching the ways of the sword to those who wish to learn. This is the tale of Daroth Taltos.
Orc's
It was still early, I wasnt ready to get up and face the long day I had ahead of myself. I was on my first mission given to me by Endracion of the Royal Knights, I was supposed to retrieve an Orcish Axe for him. It seemed pretty easy. Only problem was I to slay a Orcish fodder just to get it. So I thought it over and in my head I knew I just couldn’t walk up to one of these hulking beast's and try my best to unleash hell upon it because first off I didn’t know what they were capable of and second off I didnt think an onion sword would be able to break the orc's skin.
I headed over to Falkners home to see if he had some spare gil he could lend me to buy myself some better equipment. Of course he was not home so I decided what the hell I am capable of doing anything if I put my mind to it, Plus Falkners parents didn’t spend all that gil to put us through training for nothing. Anyways this would be a great time to test out some of my abilities. So I ran back home and grabbed some supplies such as Grilled Hare and the other essentials. After about 4-5 hours of walking from San d'Oria through West Ronfaure it was starting to get dark, I had heard tales of rabid dogs and walking undead creatures that lurk in these woods so I thought it would be best that I Call it a night.
The next morning I was awaken by Wild sheep who had found his way to my camp by following the scent of the Gyashl Greens that I had in my bag. I swear it was the quickest I have ever been on my feet, Still a little startled I grabbed my sword and lunged at the beast of course because I was still half asleep and off balance I missed him and he was not too happy that I just tried to remove his head. Before I knew it he was head butting me into a wall repeatedly, it felt like my ribs were being mashed into a fine powder and then everything went black. I opened my eyes and it was dark again and my everything hurt I could taste blood but at least the over grown cotton ball was gone. I tried to sit up but I was too weak, I remembered I had a potion in my bag that I was saving for when I ran into the Fodder but I thought there no use trying to fight an orc with broken bones so I reached for my bag, The bag was ripped and shredded but luckily the vial of potion was still in good shape. I drank the potion back and bunched up what was left of my bag into a ball and used it as a pillow and dozed off. I woke up early this morning and this time I wasn’t going to pick a fight with any sheep. I was really hungry so I ate as much of my grilled hare as I could and I was ready to go. I found my sword laying close by where the sheep was I picked it up and was on my way. After only an hour of walking I finally came across a smoldering camp fire, it didn’t appear to be made by any adventurer because the logs used as fuel were elm and even the newest adventurer knows what they are worth on the markets these days. And there he was! An orcish fodder I didn’t know exactly what I was going to do but before I thought
"Hey lets attack it!" I was already beating it with my sword I didn’t even have it on an angle so I would cut I was just clubbing it and then and after about 2 minutes and going insane on it, he was done. I had never been around an orc before I had read about them and I was told my parents were killed by them when I was just a young child to young to remember. For a few minutes it was like everything in the forest around me went silent. I felt like a murderer, sure I have killed rabbits and worms before but they were animals nothing like this. The orc closely resembles a Galka but green and hunch backed.
After a few minutes my feeling of guilt passed and I chuckled at my thoughts about a green hunchbacked Galka. I left the body where it was too heavy to move so I grabbed the Axe and headed back to San d'Oria, It was still pretty early in the day so I picked on rabbits and worms on my trip back practicing my sword techniques. I couldn’t wait to tell Falkner about all of this. He would be proud...or at least pretend to be, He isn’t an easy guy to impress unless your wearing armor that costs 999,999 gil. Once back in the city I headed straight for Endracion he was glad to see I made it back in one piece and sent me on my way.
Next part to come...
