I received X Out of Wonderland for xmas, and while it's an awesome book, one thing irked me about it.
Now, I am not much for poetry, but no matter which way I look at that statement, it's simply not true. There are some universally accepted truths, that are true no matter how many or few people believe in it.
Since there is clearly a case in which Wilde's statement is false, the statement as a whole is false.
More importantly, since I would consider myself to be the target audience for X Out of Wonderland, I just can't imagine why they put that quote on the first page. To me that was an instant turn off, it was like "Ahh. bullshit!".
This quote by Oscar Wilde is printed on one of the first pages before the book actually starts.Oscar Wilde said:A truth ceases to be true when more than one person believes it.
