A new film reviving the cult 1990s TV series The X-Files is moving closer to being made, according to reports.

David Duchovny, one of the show's stars, has told reporters he will receive a script next week.

Duchovny and co-star Gillian Anderson are both "on board" to reprise their roles as alien-hunting special agents Mulder and Scully, he said.

The script has been written by creator Chris Carter and writer Frank Spotnitz, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The pair co-wrote the first X-Files movie, which came out almost a decade ago. The original thriller series was a hit when it ran from 1993-2002, winning three Golden Globes for best TV drama.

Duchovny was speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour, promoting his new comedy Californication, in which he plays a novelist struggling with a complicated private life.

Yay?

From what I remember the first film sucked balls. Although hearing another Mike Oldfield tune on the big screen wouldn't be a bad thing ;)

After the exorsist, I kinda hate tubular bells I, because everyone plays it to fucking death, and they only know the track as 'that exorsist song' or straight up, 'the exorsist.'

His other works are way better, although it was the track which -made- him.

Oh yeah, X files, I'm kinda pessemistic.

Either way, the Exorcist track is only Tubular Bells I (or is it II? I can never remember).

Meh, Mulder and Scully. I was always more into Frank Black, at least for the first couple seasons Millennium lasted. The X-Files had some great episodes as well but could be really hit and miss at times. Other than "Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man," I pretty much always preferred it when they had episodes based on things outside their primary conspiracy.

My thoughts exactly. That's what the "?" was for.

I liked the series while it was filmed in Vancouver, but it seemed to lose quite a bit of the 'cold and dark' atmosphere when it moved to Cali. Probably just the BC bias talking there.

I fapped to Gillian Anderson one time when I was a kid.

Redheads ftw.

I'd hit that.
