Ok, Lupin the 3rd is the world's greatest anime thief who had a series in the 70s when he and his partners in crime, Goemon Ishikawa XIII, Daisuke Jigen and Fujiko Mine stole treasures and artifacts from around the world while being chased by Inspector Zenigata. Now, Detective Conan is one of the most popular series running in Japan at this time with 64 volumes of manga running since 1994 and about 520 episodes of the anime with several specials and 13 movies (All running on Golden Week). The series is about a young detective called Shin'ichi Kudo (Jimmy in the dub) who helps solve crimes for the Police. He gets a little in over his head with two suspicious looking men in black trenchcoats and is poisoned and left for dead, only to find out that the poison reverted his body to that of a 10 year old. He continues to solve mysteries under the guise of Conan Edogawa and with the help of Professor Agasa he manages to move in with his crush Ran Mouri (Rachel Moore in the dub) with hopes to get closer to getting his body back because Ran's father is also a detective.
Hope those help you understand what these series are.
