I'd like to run a data-collection parse. From my own account I would say that war/drg outparses war/nin, but my comparative tests were parsed in different environments with different people on different mobs. Hardly controlled.

I am looking to set up a party on this coming Sunday, wherein I can compare the 3 main war DD subs simultaneously. Pld tank, war/nin, war/sam, war/drg, and mages. The kicker: all 3 war's must be near-equally geared and merited.

PLD: Any ol' pld. Someone with strong initial hate grab preferred.

WAR/NIN: I prefer a war/nin with dual axes. Woody/Meater preferred. Juggy & Ridill not allowed. Joyeuse permitted.

WAR/SAM: must have capped GA. Gawain's at the least, Byakko's or Berserker's preferred.

Mages: I'll take any combination of whm, rdm, brd. Blm & smn not allowed, unless you agree to withhold nukes. All dmg from these fights must come solely from the melee's.

Gear: I would like to get war's who have TP swaps that put them in the 380-420 range for base attack, no food no berserk and at 0% tp. God gear is allowed. Adaberk & Speed/Sonic Belt are not allowed. Throwing Tomahawks are not allowed. WS swap must cap out at +50 STR.

Merits: minimal would be ideal. I have 0 combat merits, 3 crit, 1 DA, and Warcharge. I would highly prefer to not take any war/nin or war/sam who has capped weapon merits (for axe or GA respectively), but since I'm obviously far behind on the merit game, I may have to forego this request.

Food: your choice.

Location: this is what always gets me. New areas are often crowded on the weekends, and since this isn't a cannon, weapons in moon or sky will slow us down. I'll try to scout out some options in the morning.

Time: Sunday Dec 10th, 9am PST / noon EST. We will end at noon PST / 3pm EST.

I know this is more of an "Event Scheduling" type of thread, but hopefully there will be some discussion going about things to watch for. Obviously this is not the be-all end-all parse, just another chunk of data to add to my comparisons. Racial differences and playstyle will play a fairly large role but most of the war's here know their shit well enough to keep it a level playing field.

If anyone is interested please post.

Cmdr i should be up by that time cuz i would love to run my parser also during this and i can go war/nin for this. and i fit pretty much into that category but my str with my gear is at +44 without food for rampage. and were about evenly merited ive got 3 in DA and 3 in crit so far.

Cmdrfly, If it's feasible you might want to just have everyone fight naked and without food, or have everyone in the exact same gear and eating the same food. If there is a wild difference in the level of gear, that would impact their performace and skew the parse.

On the flip side of this, some job combinations benefit greatly from gear such as Supponomimi (WAR/NIN), or Wyvern Earring for CMDR's WAR/DRG that if not worn would skew data in the other direction. Also, while differences in merits may seem small, they actually do give a big boost in preformance. Nonetheless I'm interested to see your results.

I kinda follow the train of thought that Evanos has. While those two pieces are really the only ones subjob-dependant in this case, they are leagues apart from eachother. Wyvern Earring grants a 5% attack speed increase without affecting TP gain, while Suppa grants the same but lowers TP per hit (I hope I said that right). Over the course of 3 hours, this can make a significant impact.

Plus, depending on your sub, you may gear yourself differently. On /nin I wear more acc, while /drg I go fully atk, swap in Barone for Jumps, etc.

Go War/Drg. I love that combo :D

also Cmdr i don't have /sam fully lvl'd yet but if none show up i can go as /thf and i have Gaxe skilled up (no merits yet also) using berserkers axe. just a thought if no /sam pops up but another /nin does

You probably won't need it but lemme know if you need a war/thf with fortitude axe, capped GA skill. I'd like to see what the parse looks like in xp party against other wars.

Gonna bump this back a week. Tonic/Alv, I'll get ahold of you before next Sunday if I can do this. I'd like to see that Fortitude in action.

cmd I will come out and fill your pld spot

Sweet, is Jen available then too?

I think war/sam will win.
As long as you dont have to hold back due to hate issues that is.
Which might be hard in an exp situation...

That's why war/nin is so prefered, you can just let loose, and actually handle tanking for a while.
Might work now with improved third eye, but I'm guessing it's pretty gimped subbed, plus the moment you start using that you're gimping your dmg so...

War/drg sure has potential with the right gear, but then again, the moment you get hate you start wasting MP.

So unless you have a great tank, war/nin will win because down time is bad time.

I've only tried /drg once in exp before, and I was a huge mp sponge. The camp wasn't optimal for that setup though, we were in the Mire and the pld's timers weren't always up at the beginning of new mobs. So I'd open with a Jump or two on top of regular melee hits, and the thing would be on me until he could get Voke off. I think /drg is best suited for VT-IT+ camps, where the mobs come a bit more spaced apart.

Very confident it will beat /nin in dmg though. Higher skill, acc bonus, and technically 3 jumps every 3 minutes each capable of raking in 30tp. If only Raging Rush had a crit modifier instead of dmg modifier.

I haven't levelled sam, but I think /drg will still beat it. Hard to tell. I haven't seen a war/sam in exp since the patch.

WAR/DRG is awesome for XP, but like you said, not for every camp. Having high jump every 3min is nice, but sometimes just isn't ready yet when you steal hate, which is definitely going to happen.

WAR/SAM Is pretty bad ass, especially with fort axe. Fort axes's 2x attack stacks with double attack, so with brutal earring and some DA merits, you are swining ALOT. And with /sam, I think I got somthing like 56 TP with three swings, which also happens quite a bit. TP gain was just incredibly. Not to mention you get 5% haste from /sam (same as the benefit from /drg without having to sacrifice an earring slot) and +5 str as well, and of course the meditate every 3 minutes for 60 TP. Also, with /sam you have seigan to help save your ass when you do pull hate.

I highly doubt using a great axe would outparse man/juggs, but its definitely fun.

not sure we will be able to make it till 3 so you may want to replace us if you can get a more reliable tank. We have a wedding to go to.

I just realized my old man is coming down this weekend for his buddy's birthday. I don't know if he's got plans for us on Sunday so I might have to push this back until either the new year or the xmas break.

Honestly that would probably work better for jen and I. I know that we will have no problem helping you out, just the next few weekends are gonna be a bit rough.
