This game is pretty fun :P I dunno why Yahtzee thought it was so bad but whatever XD I find it's pretty but prolly cause I love a good story and a world that has tons of detail and well developed. The fighting isn't really "zomg amazing" but it's good, simple click to fight (like Diablo has been or Hellgate London) but clicking at the right time helps the combo. The alchemy system I enjoy. It's prolly one of the best games that uses alchemy that does it well. So anyone else try this?
 
I didn't think it was as bad as reviewed, but i'm not super happy with it. I do agree on the alchemy part though. By far the best i have ever seen in a game.
 
I bought this, installed it, played it, and I love this game. Its awesome. The music also kicks ass.
 
I think somebody made a thread about this somewhere. I think Witcher is a fun game. I like the interactive clicky combo system, but it does get old. The graphics engine is a little old too. The whole I'm moving along and see a background and all of sudden a mob appears is irritating.

Guess Oblivion kind of reset expectations for this genre of game.
 
hehe, Oblivion was kinda.. mediocre imo. I don't think it was as fun as some other things.

But ya, this game does use an older engine but it's pretty enough for me and the game is sooo fun to explore and learn about the world :P
 
hate to double post but I wanna get this up so people can see and hopefully answer cause this pisses me off.

I was playing and as I saved the game crashed :\ this is the only game of mine that ever crashes and it crashes a few times my friend plays it when on my comp. Looking around it seems that people have the same problem. Anyways, my question is, can I recover my saved file after the crash? Cause it was in the middle of saving and crashed and after starting it up again there's no file of mine there now :\ I want it back.. else I'm going to smash this in anger and say "fuck this glitched game"
 
since the game screwed up when I was saving I refuse to play it :(
 
If its a big issue and its talked about on the forums, I'm sure they have probably looked into it. I haven't had that problem myself so I haven't looked around for fixes for it. The devs seem to really listen to the community on the forum though. So I would be surprised if they don't fix it in the patch.
 
there's a witcher forum? I didn't know that :P I wanna know if I can recover my save file :( cause I refuse to start over.. and if I do start over I refuse to while I have that issue where it'll crash after a long while of playing.
 
Got this free with my MSI Geforce 8800 GTS 512 MB graphics card yesterday and I hafta admit...it's pretty fun for a freebie. It also looks awesome with the new card OC'd :D

Gonna actually take the time to play this one through I think.
 
hehe, I wonder if they finally fixed the fucking problem of it crashing after awhile :\ even during saving cause that is still pissing me off and I refuse to play it until I can actually play it without losing ALL my progress

I've crashed a couple of times and had to repeat some stuff. It doesn't happen much, and usually not during saving, so I guess it's not too bad.
 
Haven't had it crash on me yet (im at patch 1.4 i think), imo this is one of the best games for me in a long while :)

Haha yeah it has been a pleasant surprise considering it was a toss in with my card. I'm pretty much renaming the game "The Witcher-Whore" cause I sleep with every barmaid/peasant lady/witch chick I possibly can instead of taking gold haha :D

I got it in like.. whenever I made this thread and went "bah" after it crashed WHILE SAVING! lost everything :(
