Chapter X – The Dark Lord Galroth

Aaleel had hoped to find the answers she sought about her past when she returned home to the temple she trained in as a child. But all she found were more questions, as the Lord of darkness she saw before entering the dark realm had made his way to her temple, and laid siege upon it. She could feel the dark power emanating from him, and she began to wonder if she could take him in direct combat if he had indeed come for such purpose.
“Why have you come to this temple Galroth, why have you left the lands of Theallis?” She demanded as she held her katana before her.
“I have come to meet in person the one who has defeated the Gods of the dark realm,” he replied.
“I have come to meet the Child of the Prophecy told so long in the lands of light,” he added.
“And what would you say to me?”
“Zoron did well in hiding you from the eyes of those in Theallis, but once you defeated Zoron in the form of Absolute Virtue, and brought that blade into the dark realm, it was not difficult to find you,” he replied.
“I knew that you would return to this temple, and I had hoped to have finished cleansing this place so that I could welcome you appropriately,” he added.
“How did you know I would return here?”
“Because I knew from the eyes of my servants in the dark realm, and the circumstances that have brought you to this moment, that you have many questions of your past, your family, that blade,” he said, as confusion fell over her like a suffocating mist.

“I also knew that they are not facts that Yuriel would not want you to know, and therefore would not tell you even upon asking,” he added, as questions began to swarm about Aaleel’s mind.
“How could I know such things you ask,” he said looking over at her grinning, as she wondered if he could read her thoughts.
“I was once a priest of the City of Elindil, and I am gifted in foresight, as well as stories from the lands of Theallis,” he said.
“You wonder of your family, why they vanished from your life so suddenly, and at such a young age,” he added.
“Well I have the answers that you seek,” he said.
“You lie, you could not possibly know about my family,” she said angrily.
“But you are wrong Child of the Prophecy, for I knew your father well, and I know the events that have caused him to leave all the worlds,” he replied convincingly.
“I can tell you who killed your father,” he added, as Aaleel relaxed the grip upon her katana momentarily. Could he be telling the truth, could he really know about her past, or were they just lies to confuse her.
“You lie, the only way you could know the events of my father’s death is if it was you that killed him,” she said clinching the guards of her katana tightly.
“I have killed many in my time, but your father was not one of them,” he said pacing slowly to his left.
“The answer is far less obvious than you think,” he added as he paced back to his right looking at the floor, as if she was no threat to him at all.
“Perhaps I should start from the beginning and tell the story as I know it, and as your father described to me,” he said.
“Please do,” Aaleel said remaining on guard.
“Long ago after my defeat in the first war of darkness and light, an Oracle, a seer if you will, told of the time when darkness would once again threaten the lands of Theallis, and that a child of two worlds would redeem the people of their land, and come to Theallis to decide the fate of all,” he explained.
“But intriguing was the fact that the prophecy did not say that the chosen one would banish the darkness or restore the light to the land, it only said this chosen one would decide the fate of all,” he added, as he smiled and shook his head.
“There are two ways to interpret such things, either the seer neglected to mention such things, or it is possible that this child of two worlds could side with the darkness, and wipe the light from all the lands,” he said stopping his pacing, and turning to look to Aaleel.

“Do you know the reason that you never see the priests of Theallis in their true forms upon your land?” He asked, as Aaleel remained silent.
“It is because the creators barred them from interfering or interacting in the lives of the people of your lands outside of their intended purpose,” he said.
“But their was one high priest, who broke this rule, and fell in love with a maiden upon the lands of Vana’diel, and from this act a child was born,” he added.
“A child of two worlds,” Aaleel said softly, as Galroth nodded his head.
“Upon learning of such things the priest was called to the presence of Grand High Priest Zoron, and was told that he would have no further duties in Vana’diel and that he could have no contact with the woman or his child,” Galroth said.
“Violating such things would lead to his banishment from Elindil forever,” Galroth added as he began to pace once again.
“But anger over the Grand High Priest’s decision to keep the priest from those he loved in Vana’diel soon lead to hatred of the Grand High Priest and the cause of the council, and soon he left the city of Elindil of his own accord,” he said.
“He returned to Vana’diel only to find that the woman he loved had sent his child into hiding,” he added.
“You are lying, my father gave me this blade,” Aaleel said angrily.
“Are you sure that it was your father at all, or was it a priest of Elindil, or maybe the Grand High Priest Zoron himself?” Galroth asked as he raised his sword and looked upon the blade.
“This is Salisitor, the sword of darkness in the language of these lands,” he said, as she swung the sword, and its blade cut through the air with dark strands trailing from the blade.
“Once the dark powers grew to the point where I could amass an army to once again threaten that of the city of Elindil, I forged this sword from the darkness within myself to create a weapon that none could stand against, so that I may lead my armies to victory,” he said.
“But life it seems is not without its ironies, for the very power of balance that created me as I am now, forced the forging of a blade from the fountain of light in the great temple within Elindil,” he added shaking his head.
“I saw such things in my mind, as well as faint visions of it wielding by the one who would seek to redeem the dark realm,” he said.
“I did could see a face, but I could see power,” he added.
“So these blades are twins?” Aaleel asked.
“Yes, and Zoron did well in hiding the blade, until the one chosen by fate would come into this world to receive it,” he said turning his burning eyes to Aaleel.
“And so it was given to you, and you were hidden from everyone including your father, who Zoron knew had chosen to follow the true cause of Theallis,” he added.
“The true cause?” Aaleel asked confused.
“To use the power of the Fountain of Light to unlock ultimate power, and make all the lands one, under one Lord,” he replied.
“I see your true purpose, you seek to take freedom away from the people of all lands,” Aaleel said.
“Your father believed in this cause,” Galroth said.
“He believed so that he went against those to which he had once taken an oath as a priest of Elindil, and for this cause your father gave his life,” he added, as Aaleel’s body went numb and she struggled to form words to respond to facts given to her.
“I see that you are now beginning to understand the truth of current circumstance,” he said.
“The very people who you have brought yourself to serve without question are the ones responsible for the death of your father,” he said.
“They have made you prove your worth to attain things that were yours by birthright," he added.
“No, I cannot be,” Aaleel said, as emotions pulled her in every direction, from anger for those in Elindil, to doubt of the words of the Dark Lord, and fear that she may make the wrong decision if her emotions are not placed in control. She looked upon the blade, trying to take in and make sense of all she had been told, until she finally raised her eyes to Galroth who had not moved.
“No the only question is whether you will continue to serve their cause, or join that of your father?” He said, as Aaleel continued to try and sort through all that she had been told by Galroth and Yuriel, as well as the things that Yuriel would not tell her. She no longer knew who she could trust, but as she looked to her teacher encased of in the power of the Dark Lord, she turned to the teachings of the one she truly trusted.
“I do not know who my father was, but I do know who I have grown to be, and I will never side with darkness,” she said with conviction, as the blade of Syuji began to shine.

“That is too bad, for you would have served our cause, the cause of your father as well,” he said, as he raised his sword, and in a flash he was upon Aaleel, who was barely able to raise her katana in defense before the Sword of Darkness struck her. She did not think one of Galroth’s size could possess such speed. She leapt away from Galroth, and called to her three images, which she sent at Galroth.
“Amusing,” he said as he raised his hand and the images were given pause before him.
“Even under the limitations of this land you are not a match for the powers of those from the lands of Theallis,” he said, as he clinched his fist, and the images shattered and disappeared.
“How?” Aaleel said, as she truly began to accept the fact that she may not win this battle.
“You will not decide the fate of the lands of Theallis, you will only die,” he said as he called to himself five images, all bearing Swords of Darkness.
“No, you have reached the third level,” Aaleel said in disbelief.
“As I said, you cannot comprehend the power that you face,” he said, as he extended his hand, and the images darted across the room at Aaleel, who knew that she could not call enough images to defend herself. She created a shield before using the power of Syuji, but the images only glanced off the shield into the air above her, where they sought to fall upon her, and complete their task She drove the blade of Syuji into the floor, and a column of light rose to destroy the images before their blades could pierce her.
“It seems that we are even,’ she said rising to her feet.
“You dare seek to match powers with me,” Galroth said angrily.
“Already you grow weak from wielding power your body is not yet fit to possess,” Galroth said, as he readied himself, and rushed at Aaleel. She saw darkness envelope his blade as he swept in upon her, and she was able to leap out of the way of his weapons powerful skill, which shattered the column and caused some of the ceiling to give way above them. Aaleel dodged the falling pieces of wood, as she continued to battle the Dark Lord, and flames of light and darkness leapt upon the air, every time the Sword of Darkness, and the Syuji met. He closed his hand, and created and handful of dark shuriken, which he hurled at Aaleel, who was able to avoid their strike, as they exploded into threads dark energy upon the wall, which crumbled from the force of the attack.
“Huton,” Aaleel said as she leapt away from Galroth, and wind came forth from her hand. But all it succeeding in doing was moving the Dark Lord inches, as his cape floated behind him.
“You feeble powers cannot harm me,” he said lowering his sword and extending his hand.
“Huton: Shi” he said forcefully, as the air about Aaleel became violent. She raised her arms to protect herself, but the power of the wind eroded away her Kote as it passed over her, finally picking her up and slamming her through the wall into the garden, where she crashed down the stairs onto the ground. Unji fell to her left, and Syuji stuck into the second step, as Galroth walked outside.
“Jubaku,” he said, as a swirl of dark energy swept around Aaleel, and suddenly her muscles became slow and did not respond to her commands, until she could no longer move at all.
“Are you now beginning to realize the power that you face?” He said, as he walked slowly to the stairs, and pulled Syuji from the step.
“It seems that fate one again is not without its ironies, for the last hope of the City of Light will be taken by the blade that was meant to be its salvation,” he said holding the blade before him.
“You do not have the strength to wield that blade, and for all your power it is nothing without strength; you are weak” Aaleel said thinking back to Yuriel’s words upon the deck of the cutter.
“We shall see,” Galroth said, as he raised the katana to deliver the final blow, but before he could Syuji began to shine brightly, and soon the hand of Galroth began to struggle to even hold onto it.
“What manner of magic is this,” he said, as his hand began to tremble violently, and the sphere of light appeared around the blade before the sphere exploded into white flames knocking the Dark Lord back up the stairs and into the wall of the temple. Aaleel struggled to lift her eyes enough to see what had happened, and she saw the sight of Galroth rising against the wall, holding his left wrist, where his gauntlet was shattered, leaving only the ripped and burned flesh upon his hand. He held his left hand to his side, as he pulled the Sword of Darkness from the deck, and pointed it at Aaleel. Aaleel saw Syuji sticking in the ground to her right, but she could not move to grab it.
“I guess in all your great foresight, it was not revealed to you that this blade can never serve the hand of darkness, or be used with evil intent,” Aaleel said grinning.
“Ah so Zoron is not the fool that I took him for, and it seems that by giving you this blade he sought to turn the outcome of the prophecy to his will,” Galroth said.
“But it does not change the fact that you will die here today,” he said, as he swung his blade, and sent a crescent blade of dark energy towards Aaleel, who was still unable to move. She prepared herself for the attack, and soon her world went dark, but she did not feel any pain. Suddenly large bat wings unfolded from around her, and the avatar Diablos curled into a ball and disappeared, defeated by the powers of the Dark Lord.

“It seems we have arrived just in time,” Duncanrun, said as he held out his hand. He called Fenrir to his side, just as four images of Unphazed appeared in front of Aaleel.
“Careful, it is the Dark Lord Galroth,” Aaleel said weakly through stiff lips.
“He is bound by the limits of this world but he still possesses great power,” she added, as Duncanrun sent Fenrir into to attack Galroth how leapt out of the way of Fenrir’s bite, and turned to smite the avatar. But he screamed loudly, as a chakram crashed into his injured hand, and returned to the hand of Kaede.
“I do not know who this Galroth is, I only know that he has laid siege upon a place very near to my heart, and he must pay for his actions,” Kaede said.
“You dare speak in such a way child?” Galroth yelled angrily as he turned to Kaede, but before he could attack her Fenrir knocked him to the ground, and bite him upon the shoulder of his injured hand. He slashed Fenrir away with his blade, and rose to his feet as images of Unphazed sped towards him. Galroth was able to create a dark shield with his sword, but he was still pushed back into the temple by the force of the attack.
“Zod I am paralyzed,” Aaleel said, as Zodiaque ran upon her. Zodiaque raised her hand into the air, and swirls of white light passed over Aaleel, who felt the strength begin to return to her muscles. She felt the soothing healing of Zodiaque’s powers as she rose to her feet, and pulled Syuji and Unji from the ground before she leapt up the stairs and entered the temple.
“You can not topple me,” Galroth said, as he knocked Kaede and Unphazed down with a blade of dark energy from his sword. He leapt upon them, but his blade was caught upon the katana of Aaleel, who created images of light pure light before and threw them at Galroth who shielded himself with his powers, but was still knocked back across the floor. Aaleel slammed the blade of Syuji onto the floor, and a blade of light glided across the floor, knocking Galroth into the wall, which crumbled under the impact.
“Come, while he is weakened,” Aaleel yelled.
“Enough,” Galroth yelled, calling upon the power of Huton: Shi again, but unlike the first time Aaleel was able to raise a shield with Syuji, and the ninja were only pushed away from the Dark Lord.
“I will no longer fight you under the limitations of this world,” Galroth said angrily.
“You will meet you end in Theallis, for though you think that you have grown powerful, your feeble mind is still hindered by the limitations of this world, and cannot comprehend the power that you will face should you come to Theallis,” he added.
“I am not afraid of you, and I will defeat you when we meet again” Aaleel said angrily.
“It is a shame that you would not choose the path and cause of your father, instead you choose to align yourselves with the ones who destroyed your family,” he said, as he turned and looked to Aaleel’s teacher.
“But I can not leave without giving you a parting gift,” he said as dark shuriken took form in his hand, and he hurled them at Aaleel’s teacher, where they exploded into strands of dark energy, which entered every part of his body, before the binds faded away, and Master Dun fell to the floor.
“Until we meet in Theallis,” Galroth said, as his body disappeared in a sphere of dark energy.
“Master Dun NO!!” Aaleel yelled as she ran to her teacher, and pulled open his Togi, where she saw strands of black running in every direction from the places where the dark shuriken had pierced his body.
“ZOD!” She yelled, as tears began to run from her eyes, and crawl over the curve of her cheeks. Zodiaque came to Aaleel side, and placed her hands on the wounds, which closed under her touch, as the threads of darkness drew back into the wounds as they disappeared. Zodiaque began to smile, but before anyone else could celebrate the wounds returned and the strands of darkness spread out once again as spider webs covering his body.
“No,” Aaleel said sadly, as she told Zod to try once again, but the wounds did not even vanish the second time.
“AGAIN!” Aaleel yelled as Zodiaque turned and looked at her sadly, before she dropped her head.
“What are you doing Zodiaque, try again,” Aaleel yelled.
“It is over Aal, I believe that the cause of these wounds was born outside of our world, and therefore in beyond the means of any of the curative powers we possess,” Duncanrun said, as he put his hand on Aaleel’s shoulder, and Unphazed fell slowly to his knees beside Master Dun’s body, and bowed his head upon his hands.
“It is well my student,” Master Dun said weakly.
“Forgive me for I did not protect you.” Aaleel said sadly as she dropped her head.
“I will not grant forgiveness onto one who requires none,” he said before he swallowed deeply. “You fought bravely this day, and should not be ashamed with my death,” he said smiling as he reached up with his hand, and rubbed her cheek.
“You must not despair, for there is much that still must be done,” he said
“There will be a time to grieve for me but it seems that it is much that you still must do,” he said, as she grabbed his hand, and held it against her cheek.
“You cannot leave me, you cannot; you are as a father to me, and I cannot bear to lose another,” she said as wept upon his hand.
“If he has returned to the light, I go to be with him, and even though you are not my daughter from blood he may never be prouder of you than I,” he said as she dropped her head, and continued to cry.
“I promise that I will rebuild this school, and teach it as you would,” she said sincerely, but he only shook his head weakly.
“No, you must promise me that you will not,” he said.
“I do not understand.”
“This temple is not a concern of yours, for the words of the evil one have shown me that you have a greater purpose for the sake of all the worlds, and you must complete it,” he said.
“I knew that there was something special in your future but I could not see it, but nevertheless I knew that it was grand,” he added as Aaleel continued to cry, and look upon him helplessly.
“Promise me you will see this through to the end whatever it may be,” he said, as she nodded her head.
“You have my word,” she said.
“Farewell Aaleel, my daughter, Light of Hope,” he said as he squeezed her hand with what strength he had left, and then his hand went limp within hers. He was dead, and Aaleel could do nothing but wrap her arms around his neck and cry.

Chapter XI – Preparing for the New World

Aaleel knelt to the ground before the grave of her teacher, who one day earlier was killed by the Dark Lord Galroth, who had come the world of Vana’diel to snuff out the last hope of its people, and circumvent to prophecy that was told in the lands of Theallis many years ago. Aaleel struggled to come to grips with the tidings given to her by Galroth, who told her that her father had joined the cause of the dark one, and it was the people of the City of Light Elindil that were responsible for his death. She had passed all the trials set before her by the priests of Elindil, but she wondered if she should have faced even one, being born of one of their own.
“You are gone now, and now I feel I have no one to look to as a parent to guide me,” she said, as she raised her head and stood to her feet amidst the shower of golden leaves and petals from the trees of the Golden Forest.
“I have learned to rely on myself, but I was secure in knowing that you were always there for me,” she said pulling some one of the petals from her hair and returning it to the breeze.
“So now all I can do now is do as you would and trust that it is right and just,” she added, as she drew Syuji, and looked at her reflection in the blade.
“And I know that you would travel to Theallis and seek to defeat the Dark Lord Galroth,” she said as the blade began to glow.
“But how can I align myself with those who may have deprived me of a life with my family?” She asked herself as she looked upon the blade.
“You would hear them out for the darkness is deep in deception,” she said as she looked upon the grave and bowed her head.
“I will make you proud, I promise,” she said, as she turned, and walked back through the forest, until she could see the statues of two dragons, which sat to either side of the stone stairway that lead up to the temple. She walked slowly up the stairs to the temple, which was still heavily damaged from the siege of the Dark Lord. She looked about the courtyard at all of the students and instructors who were working to repair their school, some still exhausted from burying those who lost their lives in the siege.
“There you are Aal, you should not be walking off alone in these times,” Zodiaque said, as she ran upon Aaleel along with Duncanrun, and Unphazed.
“I have visited Master Dun’s grave, and now I am ready to resume the rebuilding of our school,” she said.
“No Aaleel,” Kaede said walking up behind her.
“You heard what Master Dun told you Aaleel, he told you to fulfill your destiny in this new land you have told us of,” the young ninja said.
“I will go when things here are once again stable,” Aaleel replied.
“We may not have that much time Aaleel,” Duncanrun said.
“If the Dark Lord could breach the seals between our worlds to bring his minions here, he may be able to do it anywhere in Vana’diel if he is not stopped in Theallis,” he added.
“I know that you seek to stay and protect this temple as it is restored to the splendor of the days before it was attacked, but we must go,” Duncanrun said, as Aaleel turned and looked at him.
“I will stay Aal,” Unphazed said.
“I will see to the repairs and defense of this temple, for it is near my heart as well,” he added.
“I do not know Unphazed, I think we should all stick together,” Aaleel replied.
“There is little reason for all of the Elite to travel to Theallis, for some may be needed in the coming days to stem the tide of darkness that may enter this realm,” Unphazed said, as Aaleel nodded her head.
“Thank you,” Aaleel said sincerely, as Unphazed bowed his head.
“Then we should travel to Theallis,” Aaleel said.
“But there is one problem, the way has not yet been revealed to us,” Zodiaque said.
“While I was visiting Master Dun’s grave, I thought about words told to me by Yuriel on the trip to these lands,” Aaleel said.
“She said that once I had found what I sought in the Far East, if I still wished to, I should come to the place where all the worlds meet, and the way to Theallis would open for me,” she added.
“But where is the place where all worlds meet?” Zodiaque asked.
“Where in our realm can we go to travel to all other realms, whether it be Sea, Sky, or other places in Vana’diel?” Aaleel asked.
“Crags,” Duncanrun said.
“Yes, and all crags are four sided, but only three are used,” Aaleel said.
“Perhaps the fourth remained empty until the day that those of this world once again proved worthy to travel to Theallis,” she added.
“Is there not a priest of San d’Oria at the Crag of Holla?” Duncanrun asked.
“Yes it is, or maybe it is a priest of Theallis,” Aaleel said.
“Zod go back and tell the others to prepare themselves, Duncan and I will meet you at the guild of the Elite,” Aaleel said, as Zodiaque vanished in a sphere of energy.
“Good luck Aaleel,” Kaede said, as she gave Aaleel a hug.
“I will return, you have my word,” Aaleel said, as Kaede backed up, and Duncanrun casted a spell of teleportation upon the two, and they disappeared.

Aaleel and Duncanrun had finally made their way back to Bastok from the Crag of Dem, and entered the city through the market gates.
“You have been quiet ever since we left the Crag Aal, what is wrong?” Duncanrun asked.
“I am just focused on the task Duncan,” Aaleel replied.
“You are a bad liar Aal,” Duncanrun said, as he smiled.
“Your mind is still in the Far East, with your battle with Galroth,” he added, as Aaleel turned and looked at him, before she nodded her head.
“What did Galroth mean when he said that it was shame that you did not choose the path of your father, and choose the one of those who destroyed your family?” Duncanrun asked.
“Galroth told me many things of the prophecy and of my family,” she said shaking her head.
“He told me that my father was a priest of Elindil who turned to his cause to use the Fountain of Light in Elindil to control all the worlds, and that it was Yuriel and the others of Elindil who were responsible for his death,” she said solemnly.
“He also said that access to the lands of Theallis was mine by birthright, and I should have never had to pass the trials of this land,” she added.
“I cannot believe that,” he said as his voice cracked.
“That is what he said,” she said looking down at the ground before she raised her eyes to the clear blue sky and laughed.
“What a cruel bit of irony that the Dark Lord himself would tell me of things that those I have trusted without question have held from me,” she said shaking her head.
“Did you believe him?” Duncanrun asked.
“I do not know if you can ever truly trust the word of one born in darkness, but there was nothing within me that sensed deception in the words he told me,” she said sadly.
“Do you really think Yuriel and the others killed your father?”
“Galroth chose his words well, as if he sought to be as genuine as possible so I would believe him,” Aaleel replied.
“He said that they were responsible for his death, and that they destroyed my family, so whatever happened I do not think that any in Elindil killed my father with blade or spell,” she said.
“Then you have yet more unanswered questions about your past.”
“We will soon be in Theallis, and I hope that all will soon be revealed to me,” Aaleel said, as they continued to walk through the markets. They had almost made their way back to the Guild of the Elite when they began to see many Iron Musketeers gathered outside the doors.
“Are they guarding the doors to the Guild?” Duncanrun asked.
“It looks like, come on,” Aaleel said as they hastened their pace back to the Guild.
“What is going on here?” Aaleel asked as she approached the Musketeers.
“Lady Aaleel, we have been waiting for your return,” one of the musketeers said.
“Lady Ayame and Lady Cornelia are waiting for you inside,” another said, as Aaleel walked past the men and entered the guild where she saw the Elite gathered at the table along with Cornelia and Ayame.
“Cornelia, what is the meaning of this?” Aaleel demanded.
“I am sorry Aaleel, I told Ayame that these men would not be needed, but she insisted,” Cornelia said.
“Cid wishes to see you,” Ayame said standing from the table.
“Why?”
“Many strange things have happened in Vana’diel, and he thinks that you and the Elite may have tidings for him,” Cornelia responded.
“What strange things?”
“Ever since your Guild entered Dynamis, the way into that realm has closed, and there are stories that a fourth platform has appeared at the Crag of Holla with a column of light that climbs into the sky as far as eyes can see, but no one who has tried can enter,” Cornelia replied, as Aaleel turned and looked at Duncanrun.
“We have sent Iron Musketeers to the Crag to collect samples for Cid if possible,” Ayame said.
“Do you know anything about this Aaleel?” Cornelia asked.
“We do not have time for such things Cornelia, the Elite have an important task to see to,” Aaleel said.
“So you do know something about all of this?” Ayame said, as she shook her head.
“Will you please come with us to speak with Cid?” Cornelia pleaded with Aaleel.
“Are the Musketeers outside to force us to come if we do not comply with your request?” Aaleel asked.
“We have been friends a long time Aaleel, and I hope that we will have no need for them,” Cornelia said.
“Duncanrun, and Nocturnus, will you accompany me to see Cid?” Aaleel said, as the two nodded their heads.
“The rest of you continue preparing yourselves,” Aaleel said, as she and the others left along with the Iron Musketeers.

Cid awaited the group along with President Naji inside a conference room in the president’s office building. Aaleel bowed her head to Iron Eater, as they made their way into the conference room and took seats around the table.
“Aaleel, I am pleased that you have come,” President Naji said.
“With respect President Naji, time is short, what would you ask of us?” Aaleel asked bluntly.
“As you have probably been told, the way to the realm of Dynamis has closed, and there have been reports of a fourth pad at the Crag of Holla, which no one can enter,” the President said.
“So I will be as blunt, what do you know of this?” He asked placing his hands on the table.
“I will tell you of the events that have lead us to this point in time, as well as the reason why it is imperative that we be on our way in great haste,” Aaleel said, as she began to explain the chain of events that began in the rolling grass of Lufaise Meadows, and continued without pause through the lands of the dark realm, and finally the Far East. Cid’s face grew grim, as he listened to Aaleel, and the President slouched in his chair with the words from Aaleel, and the other Elite who had come to speak with him. There was an air of skepticism from all in the room when told of the existence of Theallis, and the unexplored areas of Dynamis, but in the face of present circumstances they had no choice but to accept it.
“So as you can see President Naji, we must make for the Crag of Holla, and we were not going to tell you of this because there is nothing that anyone in Bastok can do to aid us, save the members of the Bastokan High Elite who walked the path in recent days,” Aaleel said.
“But if your stories of the Far East are true, then the assault upon the lands of Vana’diel could begin at any time,” President Naji said,
“You Guild cannot fully abandon the defense of these lands,” he added.
“We seek to save these lands,” Aaleel said standing from her seat.
“I cannot allow it, for it seems that you alone are all that is required to fulfill this prophecy that you told us of, and from what you have told us of this realm of Theallis, there are more powerful warriors than any you may take from your guild,” President Naja said.
“Can you not take just a few of your guild with you, and leave the rest to the defense of Vana’diel,” Ayame asked.
“We would not have survived the trials of the dark realm if it were not for all us holding true to one another,” Aaleel said.
“That is my decision, only ten of you may go upon this task,” President Naji said.
“You do not have the authority to do such things,” Nocturnus said as he stood up, and slammed his hand on the table.
“I am President of this nation, and with no true leader in Jeuno, it is up to the leaders of the three nations to decide what is best for the defense of these lands,” President Naji shot back.
“Then send word to who you will in Jeuno and the other nations, and we will see to the defense of all worlds,” Aaleel said, as the three Elite rose from the table.
“Iron Eater, Ayame accompany them back to their Guild and see that my orders are followed,” President Naji said, as the three Elite left the President’s Office, and started back to their guild.

Aaleel explained to the members of the Elite the decision of the President, and there was immediate anger about the room, for all of the Elite were anxious to see the new lands, and none wanted to remain in Vana’diel to await a fight that may never come. Aaleel asked for volunteers to remain because she did not want to choose, but there were few hands, and not enough to prevent her from choosing nine others to accompany her. It was finally decided that Kerowynn, Bluewind, Nikoloi, Duncanrun, Kahlann, Miyatsumi, Claudhert, Zodiaque, and Eormanric would accompany Aaleel to Theallis, and the rest of the Elite would stay are protect the lands of Vana’diel. Aaleel thanked those who volunteered to stay, and apologized to those that would not be accompanying her to the lands they had worked so hard to gain access to. Aaleel gathered the last of her gear, fixing a bow and quiver to her back in the event that she would possess the abilities of all jobs at once upon reaching Theallis. Aaleel returned to the main room, where the other were ready to depart.
“Nocturnus, you are in command of the Elite until we return,” Aaleel said as Nocturnus bowed his head.
“You will help see to the defenses of this world from the dark one’s forces wherever they may appear,” she added.
“You have left few elite here Aal,” he replied.
“There was a time when all the guilds worked together for the good of this land, and I feel that if this land is to survive, we must do so again,” Aaleel said.
“We still have close ties with the guild of Rawr, go speak with Caaeia, and seek to combine forces for the good of the land,” she added.
“I will seek him out once you have departed,” Nocturnus said, as Aaleel walked to the near side of the room, and took her place with the others who were leaving for Theallis.
“Be careful, and we will see you again,” Nocturnus said as he stood with the remaining Elite, who saluted those departing, as the mages cast spells of teleportation to take them to the Crag of Holla.

They appeared upon the teleport at Holla, and looked up into the sky where a pillar of light climbed into the sky as far as they could see. Aaleel and the Elite quickly leapt to the ground and made their way around to the once empty side of the Crag, where they began to see many Elvaan warriors of the San d’Orian Royal Knights all about the stairs leading up to the pad, along with Faurbellant, the priest who had for many years stood upon the empty wall praying.
“Halt, this area is under the control of the Royal Knights until it is proved to be safe,” one of the knights said.
“We know of the origin of this portal, and we wish to enter it,” Aaleel said.
“None who have tried have been able to enter the portal,” the knight said.
“And who would you be, for many have said they have knowledge of this portal, and all have proven to be untrue, so why should I trust you?” Faurbellant asked placing his hand on his chin, and gazing upon Aaleel.
“If you will not trust me, will you trust this blade,” Aaleel said as she drew Syuji, and held it before her, where it began to shine with a pristine light.
“It is you,” Faurbellant said.
“Let them pass,” he added, as the Royal Knights parted to let the company of the Elite ascend the stairs to Faurbellant’s presence.
“Finally after all my days of praying beside this temple, the Child of the Prophecy finally comes seeking the way to the Lands of Light,” Faurbellant said happily.
“But do not let me cause you to linger here, for time is of the essence,” he said.
“Where in Theallis will this portal take us?” Aaleel asked.
“You will enter Theallis within the Temple of Malingreth, which is as a Crag of this realm. Head east from the temple and you will find the city of Alvayis, where you will find those who will take you to Elindil and the Grand High Priest Zoron.
“We thank you for your tidings,” Aaleel said, as she bowed her head.
“It is I who must bow my head to you,” Faurbellant said as he bowed his head, and stepped to the side so that the Elite could pass them. Aaleel nodded her head, and motioned for the others to come. She made herself first to step into the portal, and there was a flash of bright light, and Aaleel felt a sensation about her body that was different from any teleportation she had experienced before. There was a moment of still silence, before the light about her drew her in, and she disappeared.

Chapter XII – The Land of Theallis

Aaleel opened her eyes to see a large room with marble floor, and sculpted pillars below a high ceiling. There were many statues about the room that she did not recognize, and there were many pieces of art upon the pillars and walls. There was a chandelier ringed in candles of white flame floating just below the arched ceiling in the center of the room. The ceiling itself was exquisitely painted in fine designs, and the pillars were engraved with many patterns.
“I cannot believe it, we have finally reached Theallis,” Aaleel said, as she walked out into the center of the room, where strands of white light beaming in from one of the painted windows fell upon her. There were golden doors on the other side of the room engraved with a crest, with statues standing to either side. They made their way to the doors, as they soon began to see a wall of white light passing from one of the statues to the other forming a seal upon the doors.
“I guess this is to prevent fiends from entering this temple,” Aaleel said, as the seal opened before them, and they heard the lock upon the doors release. There was a moment of silence before the doors began to slowly open, revealing to them a beautiful landscape of rolling fields of green and gold, and majestic trees, which climbed high into the blue sky, which had a white sun as its centerpiece. It took a moment for the eyes of the Elite to become accustomed to the white strands of light falling upon them from the sun, but that did not stop them from enjoying the beauty of the land.
“Come east is this way,” Aaleel said, as the party company started down the stairs of the temple into a field of golden stalks with white tips, which was accented by small white trees with golden flower. They could see a forest lying beyond the field, and they made their way quickly through the tall grass towards the forest’s edge. They reached the edge of the forest and started upon the path through the boles. They had been in the forest about an hour when they began to hear the sound or rushing water, and soon they emerged from the forest by a large river, which flowed from the north, and turned east in the direction they were traveling. They followed the river, which was flanked on both sides by trees, tall grass, and hills until it ended in a large waterfall that fall sharply into a rolling blue sea of crystal clear water. Aaleel looked long into the distance with the eyes of the ranger, for she felt all powers within her in the lands of Theallis. She looked along the edges of the cliffs as they fell down to the water, but in the distance beyond a small forest of trees, she saw a city with white walls along the cliff’s edge, with some weaved into the walls themselves.
“I can see a city in the distance, it must be Alvayis,” Aaleel said, as she gazed deeply into the distance.
“Something is wrong, there is black smoke rising into the sky from the city,” she added.
“It is under siege,” Nikoloi said, as he looked into the distance as well.
“Let us make haste to the city then,” Aaleel said, as they moved quickly along the edges of the cliffs, and made their way into the forest. They began to hear the sounds of battle, and they were awestruck by the sight that greeted them upon exiting the trees. They saw form upon a flying wyvern soaring about the city, as a large wyrm attacked the gates. There was a cloaked form upon a smaller wyrm bearing a staff, sitting away from the battle, as a commander would. The forms laying siege to the city wore armor of black and gray, as the armor of Galroth was, when he laid siege upon the temple. There were warriors in white and gold armor flowing from the walls of the city to engage the warriors seeking to enter the city.
“Help them,” Aaleel said as the Elite started down the hill towards the city. Aaleel gave pause near the top of the slope as she saw an Elvaan ranger upon the wyvern gain notice of their approach. He pulled back on the reins of his beast, which roared loudly as it flapped its wings and swooped down upon the Elite drawing an arrow from his quiver.
“Look out,” Aaleel said, as drew two arrows from her quiver and put them upon the string of her bow. She let them fly, and they struck the wyvern in the neck and shoulder, causing the beast to roar in pain. The ranger’s arrow passed harmlessly above the Elite, his aim interrupted as the wyvern flapped it wings to seek safety in the sky. Aaleel drew another arrow, as the rider ordered the beast to descend upon her. She looked to her right to the waters of the sea below the cliffs, and then to the trees behind her. She watched as the wyvern swooped around to her left to try and pin her to the edge of the cliffs. She slung her bow upon her back and returned the arrow to her quiver, as she stood steadfast with her back to the cliff Aaleel drew Syuji as the wyvern unleashed a stream of radiant breath, which she blocked with a shield of light from the blade of her katana. She leapt to the air and tore through the wyvern’s wing sending it crashing to the ground and over the cliff. Aaleel ran to the edge of the cliff, as the wyvern plummeted towards the water, but the rider stood upon the saddle, and slung his bow upon his back, before he drew an axe from his waist and leapt high into air.
“Impossible,” Aaleel said, as the warrior rose above her head, and fell down upon her, his body in shrouded in shadows from the white sun behind him. Aaleel rolled out of the way of his strike, and drew her other katana as the warrior crushed the ground with his axe. She parried a few more of the warrior’s strikes before she leapt away.
“You are not of these lands, for your cloth is of the fallen lands,” the warrior said staring at Aaleel, as he towered above her, his form larger than the Elvaans within Vana’diel.
“Ah, but by the way the light jumps from your blade, it can only be one answer to the question of your identity,” he added, as Aaleel looked at her blade, and then back to her foe.
“Could it be that the Child of the Prophecy has finally come to Theallis to meet her end, for only one who has no knowledge of these lands would not be able to comprehend what she had just seen,” the warrior said, his face pale and evil, and his eyes burning with anger as Galroth’s.

“You may have killed my pet, but I have others,” he said as his body began to crackle with threads of dark energy, which leapt from his body and took the form of a black wyvern. Aaleel called forth images of herself, as she looked upon her foes, as the wyvern pinned its wings and dove at her. But before it could reach her, it was pulled from the air by Fenrir, who tumbled down the slope biting at the wyvern’s neck.
“We are here,” Bluewind said.
“I told you to aid those protecting the city,” Aaleel said, as the others came upon her.
“Then it is well that we do not always listen to you,” Nikoloi said, as he drew an arrow and looked down the shaft at his foe.
“Fools, you cannot challenge me, for I am never alone,” he said, as his body crackled with energy again, and Diablos emerged before him flapping his wings as he looked about the company.
“The avatar of darkness himself,” the warrior said, as he clinched his fist.
“Runious Omen,” he yelled as dark energy rushed through the company like an evil wave, and some of the Elite fell to their knees.
“I am so weak,” Kahlaan said, as she struggled to stand to her feet but could not.
“Diablos does not possess such power,” Bluewind said grimacing, as one of the few Elite able to regain his feet.
“Not in your world, but in Theallis all manners of skill and magic are powerful beyond your understanding,” he said, as Diablos floated beside him. Aaleel looked about the company, and only Bluewind, Nikoloi, and Eormanric had managed to escape the effects of the avatar’s spell, along with herself.
“Dark armor,” the warrior said, as Diablos cast a shield of darkness over him, and even as Nikoloi released the arrow from his bow, it just shattered upon the shroud of darkness covering the warrior.
“Bluewind, keep his wyvern busy, and we will hold this warrior until the others have recovered,” Aaleel said, as Eormanric sent a blast of Chi energy into Diablos before he engaged the avatar, along with Nikoloi. Aaleel leapt at the warrior who caught her strike upon his axe, and pushed her away, before she called forth images of herself, and threw them at her foe, only to see them shatter upon the dark shroud surrounding him.
“You cannot harm me, for your power though unbound from the restraints of your world it still bound by the limits of your mind,” the warrior said as he circled Aaleel, who just smiled at her foe.
“And may I ask what you have to smile about under such circumstance?”
“The power of phalanx is not without end, and you will find that my mind is less bound by the limits of my world then one would think,” Aaleel replied, as she called four images of pure light before her, as the warrior recoiled from her with the sight of the power before him.
“Your armor of darkness has been weakened, and now it will shatter,” Aaleel said, as she sent her images into the shroud of darkness surrounding her foe, which cracked into dark fragments as the first of the images struck it, and her foe was thrown into the bole of a tree by the force of the last. The warrior rose to a knee and looked to his avatar for help, but he found that it was still engaged with Nikoloi and Eormanric. Nikoloi sent an arrow high into the air becoming one with the white sun, before it fell through the avatar driving it back towards Eormanric, as the form of a dragon rose from his leg and carved its way up through Diablos. A sphere of white light appeared above the avatar, and shined like as a sun in itself, before is exploded into rays of light that consumed the avatar, wiping it from the battle.
“It seems you have lost your last shield,” Aaleel said, as Eormanric and Nikoloi came beside her.
“So it seems that you have begun to discover some of your true power,” the warrior said, before he reached into his pouch and pulled out a small jug.
“We will meet again,” the warrior said, as he leapt high into the blue sky, and from his jug sprang threads of energy, which intertwined into a balled up form, which spread its mighty wings and took a form identical to the wyvern that Aaleel had banished over the edge of the cliff. He fell upon the back of the wyvern, and clinched his fist, calling back his smaller wyvern, which vanished from beneath the claws of Fenrir. He looked down upon the elite before he snapped the reins of his wyverns, and ordered it to rain its radiant breath down upon them.
“Get behind me,” Aaleel said, as she raised a shield to protect them, and the breath passed over them, scorching the boles of the trees at the edge of the forest. Aaleel lowered her shield to see the shadowy image of the warrior flying back towards the battle raging before the city.
“Come let us see to the others,” Aaleel said as they rushed to the side of their weakened comrades, who were still trying to recover their strength from the dark attack upon them.
“Is everyone well?” Aaleel asked, as she turned and looked to the city where the battle still raged before the gates.
“We are getting there Aal, but it seems that as in the temple, our curative magic is not as potent against the magic of this land,” Duncanrun said, as those with the powers of the white mage continued to heal the others, and when all were ready the started down the hill towards the city. They began to see the first of the warriors in white armor, and one turned to them, and yelled something to them in a tongue, none among the Elite could understand, save Aaleel.
“I do not understand what he says,” Nikoloi said.
“He asks, who we are,” Aaleel said.
“How is it that you can understand this language Aaleel?” Kerowynn asked confused.
“I do not know, I just can,” Aaleel said, as the warriors spoke to them again.
“But that is not a concern right now Kerowynn, for I do not yet know how to speak the language of these lands, and therefore cannot respond to them,” Aaleel said, as the warriors began to approach them with weapons at the ready. Unable to speak the language of the realm, Aaleel could only raise her katana and bring the blade to light, which gave the warriors pause in their advance upon them. One warrior spit the others and stepped before the Elite drawing his sword. He was dawned in white and gold armor, his white cloak flowing in the wind, as he held a long sword with golden hilt in his hand.
“So the child of two worlds has finally come to Theallis, princess Yuriel has spoken of your coming, and told all to keep close eye for your arrival,” the warrior said.
“I am Delmier, leader of the warriors of this city, and I welcome you to our city,” he said to Aaleel in the tongue of Theallis as he bowed his head.
“Do you know the tongue of our land, so that all in my company may understand your words?” Aaleel asked, as Delmier nodded his head.
“I welcome you all the Theallis, I am Delmier,” he said, as the Elite nodded their heads.

“But there will be a time for pleasantries later, for we must defend this city against the forces of Galroth,” Delmier said, as Aaleel nodded her head, and they all started towards the gates of the city where the came into the true presence of the large wyrm attacking the gates. There were more of the enemies in dark armor moving in upon the city seeking to flank those defending the city, but unlike Galroth, and the warrior they had just faced in the woods, the warriors faces were blank as the warriors Aaleel had fought within the golden forest.
“Do not let them gain position on the city’s defenders,” Delmier yelled as Aaleel stopped and slammed the blade of Syuji onto the ground, sending a blade white energy slicing through the company of advancing enemies, felling many of the warriors, and causing those remaining to turn to them.
“Be careful, for we must assume that any of these warriors possess knowledge of every school of training,” Aaleel said, as one of the warriors sent a blast of Chi energy through one of her images, and she leapt into the air to strike it with her katana. Her attack was lighting quick, but it was still parried by the Monk, who countered her attack, and drove his fist into her stomach stealing much of the air from her, as she fell back upon the ground grimacing, as she struggled to recover her breath. She quickly realized that the warriors in Theallis were far more formidable than the ones she had faced in the Golden Forest, who were bound by the magic of Vana’diel. She watched as the kote of the warrior began to glow, and she raised a shield of light just in time to stop the barrage of punches and kicks from striking her.
“So it is you, our Lord said that you may enter these lands soon,” the warrior said, as Aaleel rose to her feet, having recovered from the warrior’s blow.
“Yes, so you can tell your Lord, that his days of threatening this land and all others will soon be at an end,” Aaleel said.
“That is if you see him again,” Aaleel said calling images of light before her.
“Counter this,” she said, as she sent the image through the warrior who was unable to raise a defense against them, and was struck down by the power of light from Aaleel’s katana.
“Come we must defeat the wyrm, or our cause of defending this city will be lost,” Delmier said, as they rushed towards the wyrm, watching as is sent a stream of flames into the rangers upon the wall scorching many of them in dark red flames. But there was one a hume bearing a white bow ringed in gold, who leapt from the wall as he drew and arrow, and sent it arching high into the sky. He slung his bow onto his back, and called upon the power of the Samurai and the speed of the Thief.
“If you can chain the powers or your weapons into darkness, I suggest you do it now, and have your masters of the black arts ready themselves,” Delmier said.
“Claud, Eormanric go,” Aaleel yelled, as Claudhert and Eormanric raced towards the Wyrm, but before they could reach it the form of a shark leapt from the dagger of the Ranger and sliced through the Wyrm, creating a sphere of white light above it.
“Go Claud,” Eormanric yelled and Claud pulled his Great Axe from his back, which began to shine before he slashed through the hide of the wyrm, followed by Eormanric whose Kote came to light before he pelted the wyrn with a barrage of fists and kicks, causing a sphere of dark energy to appear beside the one of light. They watched as the two spheres combined and became a funnel of swirling energy around the wyrm.
“Now,” Delmier said as Black Mages upon the wall, as well as those in the Elite began to cast magic. But the Black Mages of the Elite were given pause as the air around them became violent, and filled with drops of water, before the sky became dark and streams of water upon powerful currents of wind crashed down upon the wyrm, causing the funnel of energy to slam shut upon the mighty beast. There was a moment of quiet stillness, before the wind subsided, and the sky cleared, leaving the sight of the wyrm upon the ground, its hide shredded and bloody.
“I wish to learn whatever that spell was,” Miyatsumi said standing in awe of the powers of the Black Mages.
“If one is to combine the powers of light and darkness from their weapons, there must also be those who possess spells that combine those powers as well, as wind and water come together within the spell Hurricane,” Delmier said.
“Yeah, I wish to learn that spell,” Miyatsumi said nodding her head.
There were sounds of happiness and victory from atop the city walls with the defeat of the wyrm, and the retreat of the warriors in dark armor towards the smaller wyrm, and its rider who seemed to be their leader. But the rider upon the wyrm did not retreat instead advanced upon the warriors of the city, the riders face shrouded in darkness beneath the hood of a cloak. They began to hear sounds of laughter from beneath the cloak, as the warrior they had faced within the woods landed beside the wyrm, still upon his wyvern.
“You believe you have won this battle, but you fail to realize just how much defeat is still upon you,” the voice said, which was of a woman, whose rolled speech could only be that of a Mithra. She stood upon the saddle of her wyrm, and pulled back her hood, as she threw open her cloak. She did not bear heavy armor instead she wore boots of leather ringed in grey at the ankle, a black and grey tunic of finely woven cloth, and black gloves bearing red stones upon the top of her hands. There was a long, jewel encrusted staff upon her back, and a rapier sword upon her belt. Her eyes were red and burning like those of Galroth, and danced sinisterly as she looked upon them.

“Zentris,” Delmier said angrily.
“Who is she?” Aaleel asked.
“One of the fallen two,” one of Delmier’s men said.
“Fallen two,” Aaleel said confused.
“There will be time to explain the history of this world at a later time, but we must be vigorous in our defense of this city, for is Galroth has sent her here he greatly desires control of this city,” Delmier said.
“Come forth Child of the Prophecy, for I have seen the power of your blade in this battle, and I know that you have come to Theallis, just as Lord Galroth has told us,” Zentris said, as Aaleel slowly stepped forward.
“I am here, and I will not let you conquer this city,” Aaleel said, as Zentris laughed once again.
“You left quite a sting upon our Lord, it took much time for even the healers of this world to mend it, but do not read too much into a battle under the restrictions of your world,” she said grinning.
“For your powers are inferior to those that may be unleashed by those who have lived for ages under the freedom of these lands,” she added, as she shook her head.
“It is a pity,” Zentris said continuing to shake her head.
“What would that be evil one?” Aaleel asked angrily.
“Lord Galroth has told me of what he told you of your past, but here you stand alongside those who robbed you of your birthright as well as your family,” Zentris said, as anger welled up inside Aaleel once again, and her hand began to tremble upon the hilt of Syuji. She had heard enough of the words of those seeking to lay blame of events she had no true knowledge, and the more she thought of the words of Galroth, she remembered what he had robbed her of.
“I still do not truly know the events of my parents deaths, but I do know the one responsible for the death of my teacher, and for that he will pay, along with all those who would serve him,” she said, as she slammed the blade of Syuji upon the ground, and sent a blade of energy slashing through the small wyrm, cleaving it in two just as Zentris leapt from the saddle.
“What?” Aaleel said confused, as Zentris did not fall back to ground instead she floated above them all upon the air.
“Masters of the dark arts have many powers here that are unknown to those of your world,” Delmier said, as Zentris looked down upon them.
“It is as the Ark Angel we fought within La’Loff Amphitheater,” Aaleel said.
“You can have hurricane Miya, I wish to learn that,” Kerowynn said.
“This city will fall under the rule of my Lord, or it will fall to flames,” she said pulling her hands together, as her body began to crackle with energy, as threads of dark energy hoped and danced upon her body. Clouds began to fill the sky and soon a large whirlpool began to swirl within them, as a shadow of darkness appeared inside.
“This may be our end,” Delmier said, as the something exploded from the clouds, and took the form of wyvern wings wrapped into a ball, which opened to reveal the form of the wyrm king himself who floated beside Zentris flapping his wings mightily sending gusts of wind through the defenders of Alvayis.
“I do not believe it, it is Bahamut!” Aaleel said.
“How could she summon the king of the Wyrms to aid her?” Duncanrun asked, his voice cracking in awe of the great avatar.
“There are many whispers of the trials one must take to attain such power, but only Zentris has walked that path, which was told to her by the Oracle long ago,” Delmier said.
“Now I will ask you to surrender or die,” Zentris said with an evil grin.
“We will never surrender to you witch,” Delmier said.
“Then you will die,” she said, as she clinched her fist, and ordered her mighty avatar to unleash spheres of flame down upon the city and its guardians. Aaleel ordered all who could to get behind her, as she raised as large a shield as she could with her katana, and though her shield stopped the attack, its sheer force sent her and all around her flying upon the ground. Aaleel arose with blurry vision, which quickly cleared revealing the bodies of some of the cities defenders who were not protected by her shield. The gates and walls of the city were in flames, and some upon the wall lie dead as well. She looked realizing she now stood within a small crater in the ground created by the wyrm king’s attack. She looked behind her, and even those who had taken refuge from the strike behind her stirred slowly upon the ground as they sought to regain their bearing.
“Ah, so you do possess some power after all, but you cannot hope to stand against the power set against you,” Zentris said, as her eyes began to burn.
“You will find that I have more power than you think, and free from the limitations of my realm, I can use them without being drained,” Aaleel said, as she felt power welling up in her as never before.
“Is that so,” Zentris said grinning, as she ordered her avatar to swoop down upon her, and just as Bahamut prepared to unleash another shower of flame upon them, Aaleel leapt forward and plunged the tip of Syuji into the ground, sending a column of light into the air, which struck the wyrm king, and forced it backwards. She called forth images of light before her, and sent them flying towards Bahamut, which struck the wyrm through the chest and neck forcing it to the ground. Aaleel quickly slammed the blade of Syuji upon the ground sending a blade of light towards Bahamut, knocking him backwards through the ranks of the enemy. Aaleel watched as the wyrm king moved slowly upon the ground trying to return to its feet.
“Now,” Delmier said, as Black Mages still alive upon the wall began to cast spells, and soon the air above the avatar became a wave of water, which crashed down upon the avatar crushing it upon the ground, as well as the warriors surrounding it.
“Say farewell to your creature Zentris,” Aaleel said as she sent another blade of light into the avatar, which curled its wings upon its body once again, and disappeared.
“No, this cannot be,” Zentris said as her eyes danced in madness and burned with rage.
“That will be your last act within this world,” Zentris said drawing her sword, as using the power of the Red Mage to cover the blade in flame.
“Now it is I who will give you the chance to surrender,” Aaleel said.
“My life is not yours to give or take child, nor is your power as great as you think,” Zentris said angrily.
“Then you choose to continue the battle, so be it,” Aaleel said as she called forth more images of light and sent them flying towards Zentris who vanished before her eyes, and appeared right above her swinging her sword, which Aaleel was barely able to parry, as she continued to fell power within her as never before. Aaleel parried more of Zentris' strikes before she slashed her katana twice at Zentris, and crescent shaped blades of energy leapt from the blade at Zentris who blocked one with her sword, but was struck by the other, knocking her back towards her men. Zentris steadied herself as she floated slightly above the ground, and glared at Aaleel, who stood steadfast before her as the others who had recovered from Bahamut’s attack came to her side.
“You are outnumbered evil one, now leave or perish here,” Aaleel said, as she sent a blade of energy at Zentris who rose into the air avoiding the attack.
“I have underestimated your powers child, but I will not do so next time we meet,” she said, as Aaleel slashed her katana through the air sending blades of light at her again, but Zentris vanished in a sphere of dark energy before they could reach her. Aaleel felt her body become weak, and she fell to a knee with the sight of the remaining warriors vanishing under the power of spells.
“Are you alright Aal,” Kerowynn asked as she walked up to her.
“I guess I am not as powerful as I thought within these lands,” Aaleel said, as she stood slowly to her feet, and looked upon Syuji for a moment before she returned it to her waist.
“Zentris must be very powerful indeed, to withstand the power of this blade, and remain otherwise uninjured,” Aaleel said.
“And her power is not even the equal of the Dark Lord,” Delmier said, as Aaleel began to wonder if his words were true, how could she ever hope to defeat such a power, even with her blade.
“They will not return this day, so let us return to the city to rest and recover strength, as well as see to the dead and injured,” Delmier said, as Aaleel nodded her head, and she and the other Elite followed him to the gates of the city.

What I've posted has caught up to what I've written, and I tend to get writer's block at least once during everything I write lol, so if there isn't an update every week from now on that's why.

Chapter XIII – The City of Light Elindil

Aaleel looked upon the scorched gates of the city of Alvayis, which were barely able to be opened due to the damage inflicted upon them by the large wyrm, and the avatar Bahamut. Aaleel’s mind was still in awe of the power of the warriors of Theallis, and the fact that the power of her blade was not able to injure the dark warrior who had become known to her as Zentris. Delmier and his men looked about the bodies directly in front of the gates, and they began to pile the bodies of the dead to burn them.
“Why are the faces of these warriors blank and dark, and the faces of others pale and dead?” Aaleel asked.
“Those with dead faces of gray are former priests of Elindil, and those with blank faces are descendants of those of your world who were passed through the trials long ago,” Delmier replied.
“Priests of Elindil were created from the fountain of light, and therefore will always have a thread of light within them which keeps their faces alive, even if it is ever so slightly,” he added, as the Elite followed Delmier through the gates, and into the city where there were broken pieces of the wall upon the stone road. Aaleel looked about the city, which was separated into two halves by the long white road, which passed the market area in front of the city where there were many shops for armor and items, as well as food. Aaleel looked closely upon the armor and weapons of the warriors which all were of greatly higher quality than those of the Elite, and even the cloth of the citizens was woven of fine material not seen by even the greatest crafter within the guild of Clothcraft in Windurst.
“The damage to this city has been great indeed,” Duncanrun said looking about the area.
“This is the farthest south the forces of the dark one have sought to lay siege to, one must wonder what would make them so bold,” the ranger with the white bow said rubbing his chin.
“Indeed Alamis, for his purpose must have been grave indeed to send his second in command to deliver him the conquest of this city,” Delmier said looking to Alamis.
“It is almost as if they knew that I would seek this city when I entered these lands, and they wished to possess it so that they could be lying in wait when I arrived,” Aaleel said, as the Delmier’s demeanor became worried, and somber.
“That would mean that there is a traitor within Elindil, or within your company,” Delmier said.
“I would trust my life everyone who has accompanied me from our lands,” Aaleel said turning and looking about her company.
“Than is it best that you do not linger here,” Alamis said.
“Yes, it is best that you make your way quickly to Elindil, and far within the protected lands of the south,” Delmier said.
“Maybe your arrival in this land will set things in motion and allow us to know who is friend and who is foe,” he added, as Aaleel nodded her head. Delmier turned and yelled for one of the mages to come to his presence. It was a hume woman in woven cloth of gold and white, holding a smooth, white staff with red jewels upon each tip.
“This is Kya, and she along with Alamis are my two most trusted allies, and they will make sure that you reach Elindil safely,” Delmier said stepping back from the company, as Kya began to cast a spell of teleportation.
“Thank you for your aid Delmier,” Aaleel said, as Delmier bowed his head just as they vanished in streams of white light.
They appeared in a temple much like the one they first saw when they arrived in Elindil. There was a white chandelier burning with white flames floating below and finely painted ceiling. There were masterfully painted art upon the walls, which rested within the strands of light falling in from the windows. There were two large statues to either side of the door, but there was no wall of light passing between them, and unlike the temple the members of the Elite recognized one of the statues.
“Is that Yuriel?” Zodiqaue asked.
“Yes, that is Yuriel,” Aaleel said with a slight sigh.
“Why do you say her name in such a way Aaleel?” Kya asked looking upon Aaleel with confusion etched upon her face.
“I do not know, I just feel that Yuriel has not been totally forthcoming with me,” Aaleel replied, as she looked upon the statue, and wondered if she would finally receive the answers she seeks from Yuriel.
“That is strange indeed, for the words of Delmier expressed a great anxiousness of your arrival by the princess,” Kya said shaking her head.
“Then that is well for I am anxious to speak with her as well,” Aaleel said.
“Who is the other statue of?” Kerowynn asked.
“That is the Grand High Priest Zoron,” Alamis said bowing his head to the statue, before the doors of the doors of the temple began to open slowly. They looked out upon more lands of rolling green fields with deep vales. There were many clusters of dwarf trees, but the land was for the most part open for as far as Aaleel could see until a wall of tall hills in the distance.
“Why was this path not available for our first arrival in Theallis?” Aaleel asked.
“Trust for the fallen realm has diminished since the old days, and Zoron did not want those of the fallen lands entering this realm so close to the city of light,” Alamis responded.

They walked down the stairs to the long grass, where Alamis pulled a small, curved horn, of smooth white wood from under his jerkin, and blew it upon the air. Alamis looked long into the distance, as did Aaleel, and for a moment there was nothing, but soon the skies began to fill with many dark shadows, which took the form of birds in the distance. But as they drew nearer to them, they were seen as chocoboos flying upon the air, before they swooped down, and settled upon the ground before the company. Their wings were longer than that of the chocoboo in Vana’diel extending back past their tails and their necks longer. They bore feathers of single and mixed colors, and their eyes were black and without pupil.
“These chocoboo are exquisite,” Kerowynn said, as she brushed her hands across one of the bird’s feathers.
“These chocoboo were recently chicks, and are only used for short travel,” Alamis said.
“The older chocoboo are used for long travel, and battle,” he added, as he climbed upon the back of one of the chocoboo, and patted it on the side of the neck, causing it to Kweh loudly, as the Elite climbed upon the many chocoboo, and grabbed tightly upon the reins.
“I do not know about this,” Kahlaan said, as she wrapped both her forearms tightly in the reins.
“Is riding upon the air much like riding a chocoboo upon the ground?” Aaleel asked, as she climbed upon one of the chocoboo, and wrapped the reins around her forearm.
“You need not concern yourself with the skills required in flying these birds Aaleel, for they are finely trained, and they will follow the lead of my chocoboo Nyla, and bring you safely to Elindil,” Alamis replied, as he pulled back on the reins of Nyla, and the chocoboo flapped its wings and took to the air followed by all the others holding the Elite, as well as those without riders. They took to the air, and came into formation behind Nyla, as they glided across the open fields upon currents of strong wind, and all fears and concerns of the Elite were calmed by the beautiful landscape beneath them. They passed over the hills, and the open fields of green grass gave way to beautiful forests of brown skinned trees bearing gold and green leaves. There were crystal blue rivers that ran along the gentle slopes of the land between the clusters of majestic trees, ending in many soft rolling waterfalls. Aaleel watched the shadows of the chocoboo swept over the land, and climbed over the precipice of a large hill, where the saw the sight of a grand city, which sat upon the water of a sparkling, crystal clear lake. The city just sat just above the water surrounded by a solid waterfall, with one white bridge crossing the water to the city from the north. Aaleel looked upon the city, which was built mostly of white stone with golden roofs from what she could see of it behind the white walls. There were many white towers with stairs carved into them that spiraled down to the ground. Aaleel felt her stomach drop as the chocoboo swooped down to the lake, and dipped their wings in the water as they skimmed just above its surface. Alamis snapped his reins, and the chocoboo climbed into the air, passing over the wall, and diving down to the ground, where they spread their wings to stop their decent, and landed just inside the walls at what looked to be stables. There were many smaller chocoboo walking about the stables, and every moment or so one would leap into the air to test its wings upon the wind before it floated slowly back to the ground.
“Come we shall seek the Hall of Light, Yuriel and Grand High Priest Zoron will be there,” Alamis said, as they started off through the city. There was a long pool beside the white marble road, which was lined with small white skinned trees, with white leaf, which ended before two faceless statues. There was a white archway trimmed in gold that curved around the side of a large tower, and ended before a large fountain, with white leaves creating small ripples upon the water. Behind it was a thin white bridge crossing a rolling stream that lead to a large building with curved roof. There two statues, one to either side of the doors, which none of the Elite recognized.
“Noran-Til the Temple of Light and the creators of all, King Kelyis and Queen Alora,” Alamis said, as he and Kya bowed their heads, followed by the rest of the Elite. There were two guards in white armor upon the doors, who spoke with Alamis.
“What is this writing above the door?” Kahlaan asked.
“Be pure of heart and true of faith, and grace will keep you in the light,” Aaleel said.
“It looks as clear to me as the language of our lands,” she added.
“You are a child of this world by birth Aaleel, and though you have not lived here, you are still granted the tongue of this land by the powers born here,” Kya said.
Alamis finished speaking with the guards, who allowed all inside the temple, where they followed a curved hallway past a crystal clear window, which looked out onto a balcony, where a Galka and Mithra in long white robes stood and looked out upon the city.
“We draw close to the Chamber of Faith,” Alamis said, as they came to a large golden door, which opened before them, and revealed the pinnacle of craft. The ceiling of the chamber sang songs with the many voices of colors, written by the crafters of Elindil. There were paintings and busts upon pedestals lining the walls, and there were eight smooth, wooden pillars, which sat uniformly spaced around the circular room, and climbed the walls as if they were sprouting from the ground. They sprouted carved branches and leaves at the edge of the curved ceiling and flowed about it meeting at the point, where a chandelier hung burning with white flames directly over a large white fountain of three levels with pure white light cascading down to all levels to a small pool of light. There were many forms in long robes in prayer upon the smooth marble floor around the fountain, and beyond the fountain was a short staircase leading up to a two thrones, where two forms sat, in all the majesty of their statues in the temple.
“Lord Zoron, Princess Yuriel,” Alamis said, as he and Kya fell to their knees, followed by the Elite. Zoron’s face as Yuriel’s shined ever so slightly with white light, and Zoron looked to be taller than any Hume Aaleel had ever seen. Both there eyes shined as brightly with light as Galroth’s and his minions burned with hatred and anger.
“Welcome weary travelers from afar, I welcome you to Theallis, I am Zoron Lord of this city, and you have already met my sister, the Princess Yuriel” he said rising from his throne along with Yuriel.
“I am sure that you have many questions of this land, and of the circumstances that have brought you here, and…” Zoron said, as Aaleel stepped before the others.
“I have but one question and one question only, are you responsible for the death of my father?’ Aaleel asked bluntly, cutting off Zoron, who looked at her strangely.
“How would you know of such things,” Yuriel said in surprised voice, as she placed one of her feet upon the stairs.
“The Dark Lord Galroth told me much when he laid siege to the temple I called home for so many years,” Aaleel replied.
“Right before he killed my teacher,” she added angrily, as Yuriel turned and looked at Zoron, who had slouched down upon the throne, holding his chin in his hand.
“The Dark Lord came to Vana’diel in his true form?” Yuriel asked looking upon Aaleel with unbelieving eyes.
“Do not act surprised princess, for you told me as much when you appeared to me on the boat ride to the Far East,” Aaleel said.
“I do not understand,” Yuriel said with a genuine look of surprise upon her face.
“You told me to seek my answers in the Far East, and if I still wished to come to Theallis afterwards, come to the place where all worlds meet,” Aaleel replied.
“You must have seen the events of the coming days in your mind through your power of foresight,” she added.
“I only sensed a trial for you in the Far East, but not the Dark Lord himself,” Yuriel said.
“You must know that I would have never sent you into such a circumstance against one such as the Dark Lord, even with him under the limitations of your world” she said sincerely.
“You must have become powerful indeed to have survived such an encounter,” Zoron said sitting forward in his chair.
“I survived because of those dear to me within the Elite,” Aaleel said.

“What exactly is it that the Dark Lord told you?” Zoron asked.
“He told me that my father was once a priest of Theallis who upon one of his duties in Vana’diel met a hume woman, my mother, and fell in love with her,” Aaleel said as her eyes jumped back and forth between Yuriel and Zoron, making sure to look them both in the eye.
“He said that they fell in love and had a child, but because of the rules of Elindil not to become involved in the lives of those on Vana’diel, he was not allowed to see his love or his daughter, and thus eventually his anger, and sadness drove him to the cause of darkness, where he aligned himself with Galroth, and one day he became a casualty of your war with the Dark Lord,” she said, as Yuriel and Zoron looked at each other once again, and Yuriel sighed loudly, as she looked at Aaleel compassionately.
“Please tell me that it is not true,” Aaleel said pleadingly, as she looked at Yuriel.
“Sadly we cannot,” Yuriel said sadly.
“Everything the Dark Lord told you is true,” Zoron said calm and composed, distinctly different from his sister who continued to look at Aaleel sadly.
“You killed my father,” Aaleel asked angrily trying to keep her emotions in check.
“We do not know what happened once he left Elindil, but from knowledge, he did not die in battle with the forces of the city of light,” Zoron said.
“But we can tell you what we know,” Yuriel said.
“You know that our parents created all the realms, and kept the lands of Theallis separate form the others, reserved only for those who proved themselves worthy of passage by their deeds,” Zoron said settling back in his throne.
“They made Yuriel the princess of light, and myself the Grand High Priest to oversee the other priests in their jobs of testing the hearts of those of the other lands,” he added.
“Yes I have heard all of this before, tell me about my father,” Aaleel said angrily.
“You must be patient Aaleel, for we will not only tell you of your father, but also of the evil you now face,” Yuriel said, as she turned to her brother who continued.
“I formed and council of High Priests, and also I picked from the priests of each race one to help me oversee the affairs of their kin,” Zoron said.
“There was the Galka Barik, an Elvaan Alagos, a tarutaru Voiyall,” he said before his demeanor became disturbed and angry.
“Then there was Galrtoh the Hume, and Zentris the Mithra,” he said disgustedly, as his eyes curved in anger.
“It was soon after that I was asked to come speak with the Oracle, for she had tidings for me, and it was then that she told me that darkness would one day enter the lands of Theallis,” he said.
“It was also that day that Zentris spoke with the Oracle also, and upon touching her Zentris was shown the path to hidden areas of the Canyon of Wyrms, and there alone she would pass the trials to acquire an avatar more powerful than any other, the Wyrm King Bahamut himself,” Zoron added standing from his throne, and walking down to the fountain of light.
“The desire for knowledge within Galroth and Zentris was great, and soon they became more powerful than the other High Priests; but with power comes a lust and desire for more power, and soon they sought to harness the power of the fountain of light itself,” Zoron said.
“Soon evil machinations were formed in the darkness of night, and they influenced other priests to allow those who were not worthy to pass the trials, bringing them into the lands Theallis to become part of the army that would lay siege to Elindil in the pursuit of greater power to control all the lands,” he added.
“Thus they became known as the Fallen Two,” Yuriel said shaking her head.
“High Priests who turned their backs to the light, and sought to conquer the lands,” she added.
“Galroth possessed powers greater than even Zentris with her mighty avatar Bahamut, and still he was diligent in his studies of all forms of magic and combat, and thus was made leader with Zentris his second in command,” Zoron said.
“They lost the war against Elindil, and went into hiding in the northern mountains, and there in the darkness they sought to gather power once again, for another attempt to claim the power of the Fountain of Light,” Yuriel said.
“They used the realm known to you as Dynamis to gather darkness to once again break the balance within the realms,” she added.
“It was then that I went to see the Oracle again, and I was told about the prophecy of the child of two worlds who would decide the fate of all worlds once and for all,” Zoron said, as he dipped his hand into the fountain of light, and drops of light ran over his skin like water.
“It was soon after my visit to the Oracle, that the fountain of light came to life, and burned brightly for the span of five days and five nights, and when all was said and done the Sword of Light emerged, and immediately I knew its purpose, and the rules that governed its creation, for I had seen it in my mind for the five days of its forging,” he said staring blankly as if he was thinking back upon such times.
“I knew that such a weapon could not serve the hand of evil, but I did not see that this blade was forged due to its twin being forged of darkness,” he added.
“I kept the knowledge of the blade a secret, and it was many years later that a High Priest of Elindil Leremis, was upon his duties in Vana’diel when he fell in love with a Hume woman Marion, and thus he showed himself to her in his true form. Then against the rules of Elindil he developed a bond and a tie with Marion, who bore a child, which revealed their relationship to me in my mind for the prophecy was fulfilled with this act,” Zoron said.
“I summoned Leremis to my presence, and he was told never to see Marion or his daughter again, and never to even speak of his daughter’s existence,” Zoron said looking upon Aaleel, but his demeanor was stern, and not compassionate as his sister’s.
“He asked why such things must occur, and I told him that the rules and laws of Elindil laid down by my parents must be respected,” he added.
“Why could I not have come to Elindil?” Aaleel asked.
“The rules of this city prohibited him from having a relationship with those on Vana’diel, and it was not within our hearts to deprive your mother of a life with you as well,” Zoron replied.
“Why could she not come as well?” Aaleel asked angrily.
“She had not passed the trials, and thus was not able,” Zoron said dropping his eyes for Aaleel’s.
“I am sure that your parents did not wish to break apart families when they put forth these rules,” Aaleel said.
“If not killed in battle the life of an original priest of Elindil was an immortal one and the rules were made so that one would not have to watch those they loved grow old and die, even their children,” Zoron said.

“Those of your lands who passed the trials made cities outside the walls of Elindil, and only those who proved themselves through deeds were allowed to become new priests of the light, and its guardians,” he added looking to Kya and Alamis.
“None returned to Vana’diel?” Aaleel asked.
“Think of the nature of your people Aaleel, for once one is given the immense powers of this land, why would one return to such limitations,” Zoron replied, walking back up to his throne.
“Those of your world made families here, and soon, thoughts of the lands their ancestors traveled from faded from their minds with the passage of time,” he said.
“You will have time to study the history of this land Aaleel, but I feel it best that we finish telling you what we know of your father,” Yuriel said, as Aaleel nodded her head.
“At first your father accepted the rules of the city, but over time Leremis began to greatly miss you and your mother, so he defied the laws of Elindil and left its borders, which was the start of his fall into darkness,” Zoron said, as he sat down upon his throne.
“Fearing that Leremis would eventually join the cause of Galroth and his followers, as well as reveal you and your role in the prophecy to the Dark Lord, I went to Vana’diel and revealed myself in true form to Marion,” he added.
“So it was you that gave me Syuji,” Aaleel said shaking her head, as she wiped a tear from her cheek.
“I always thought that it was my father,” she said sadly, as Yuriel continued to look upon her sympathetically.
“Yes, I bestowed upon you Syuji, and though you were only a small child, I convinced your mother to send you into hiding in the Far East for your own protection, and she agreed,” Zoron said, his demeanor unchanged by the tears and emotions of Aaleel.
“You were sent with nothing but a new first name given to you by your mother, and there you were trained for the events that have now transpired.”
“Sadly, and painfully to my heart, you were still separated from both your parents, and would never see them again,” Yuriel said sadly.
“As for the circumstances of either of your parents’ deaths, we do not know,” she said.
“What was my name?” Aaleel asked sadly.
“What?” Zoron asked looking upon here strangely.
“You said that I was given a first name when I was sent to the Far East, what was the name given to me by my parents upon my birth?” She asked.
“Allauriel; child of light in the tongue of your land,” Yuriel said.
“Is there any way I can learn the events of my parents’ death?” Aaleel asked.
“There is only one who would know, and she is the one who told me of the events that have transpired,” Zoron said.
“The Oracle,” Aaleel said, as Yuriel nodded her head.
“Where can I find her?” Aaleel asked.
“She is in Anulis the city of the fairies,” Yuriel said.
“I have never seen a fairy, they must only exist here in Theallis,” Aaleel said, as Yuriel looked to Zoron, and they both smiled.
“You see them everyday of your life Aaleel,” Yuriel said smiling.
“I do not understand,” Aaleel said looking back at the other Elite who shrugged their shoulders.
“Fairies like the priests of Elindil do not show themselves to you in their true forms; and more so fairies are unable to exist outside Anulis in their true forms,” Yuriel said.
“Why?” Kerowynn asked stepping beside Aaleel.
“Fairies were created to be record keepers for all the worlds, and they were given great power within the borders of their city to protect and preserve the history of all lands for any who wish to read it within the Evangril he Great Library.”
“Where are fairies in Vana’diel?” Kahlaan asked.
“You see them every time you enter your home, and they know the each and every trial you pass, and every important event in your lives,” Yuriel replied.
“Moogles,” Aaleel said smiling.
“Yes, do you not ever wonder where you moogles go when they say that they must return home, and leave your side for a time?” Yuriel asked, as she looked about the company.
“They record the events of your lands within Evangril, and then return to your lands to watch over you once again.”
“And the Oracle is a fairy?” Duncanrun asked.
“She was the first, and therefore the most powerful of all fairies, given powers above all others to see things past, as well as things to come with just the touch of ones hand,” Yuriel said.
“I wish to see her, where is this city of the fairies Anulis?” Aaleel asked, but Zoron only shook his head, and rose from his throne once again.
“No, you and your companions must travel to the schools of this land to acquire the powers you will need to face the Dark Lord and his minions,” Zoron said walking down the stairs, and around the fountain to Aaleel.
“And you above all others must become strong Aaleel, for it is you that must decide the fate of all lands,” he said putting his hand on her shoulder.
“You must put the welfare of all the worlds ahead of your questions for the time being Aaleel,” Yuriel said, as Aaleel reluctantly nodded her head.
“You training will not take long Aaleel, you will get your answers.”
“Where are these schools?” Duncanrun asked.
“They lie outside the walls of Elindil, but they are all well within the protected lands,” Zoron replied.
“When do we leave?” Aaleel said anxious to get her training over with.
“Your training will only proceed quickly if your mind is focused Aaleel, you can not proceed hastily through such things in hopes of finding the answers you seek,” Yuriel said.
“You will rest for the night within Elindil, and then you will be guided to the schools in the morning,” Zoron said.
“Rest well, and good luck to you all,” he said as the company bowed their heads to the Zoron, and Yuriel, and exited the chamber under the lead of Alamis.

Nice work sorry I can't rate you up again yet.

Wow it's coming along really well Aal! I want to know what happens next. ; ;

Chapter XIV – Training in Elduin Temple

Aaleel awoke from her deep sleep feeling the soft touch of the finely woven gown given to her by the handmaidens of Elindil. She stretched her arms and sat up her elbows, as she felt the renewed energy running through her body. Her heart beat strong and full, as she turned to look at the strands of sunlight falling from the window onto her bed. She rose from the bed and walked over to the window following the sound of rolling water. She stretched for a moment before she looked out the window at the clear water rolling over white rock down in a small stream, where golden leaves fell from the boughs to be carried away. She turned from the window to look for her armor, but instead she saw new armor upon the chair in her room. There remained Syuji and Unji, but the rest of her armor had been replaced. She walked over and ran her finger over all the pieces of armor as she shook her head in disbelief at the level of their craft.
“The crafters created armor for all in your company at the request of Lord Zoron, and they worked throughout the night to complete their task,” Aaleel heard, and she turned to the door to see Yuriel standing in the doorway, wearing the same armor as they day they met in LuFaise Meadows.
“That armor will keep you warm in the cold, and cool amidst fire; and it is strong enough to bend the shafts of arrows, but not the tips of spear or sword,” Yuriel said.
“I thank you for your kindness,” Aaleel said bowing her head.
“You must begin your training today Aaleel, but first you must eat and gather your strength,” Yuriel said smiling as she looked upon her.
“I will see to your breakfast while you get dressed,” Yuriel said, as she turned and left the room, pulling the door closed behind her. Aaleel picked up the chainmail made for her by the crafters, and it felt as a feather in her hand. She liked the feel of all of the armor from the solid kote upon her forearms, to the Haidate and Sune-Ate. She looked behind the chair and there was a white bow, with golden grip and string, and next to it a quiver of golden feathered arrows, which was made to fit Syuji and Unji as well. She slid Syuji and Unji into the quiver, and set it upon the bed, before she sat down upon the end and waited for Yuriel to return.
She had not been waiting long, when she began to sense movement in the hallway outside her room, and soon her door opened and Yuriel entered along with handmaidens carrying small trays of food, which they set upon a table.
“I am not to eat with the others?” Aaleel asked.
“They have already departed Elindil to begin their training,” Yuriel said.
“Where have they gone?”
“Those who use magic accompanied Kya to the Mountains of Baylith to seek Isalia, the City of Magic, where all forms or magic and summoning are taught by some of the finest magic users in all of Elindil,” Yuriel replied, as she stepped from the doorway.
“Those who practice physical forms of combat accompanied Alamis north to Valin’grel, upon the shores of Lake Essex,” she said as she looked upon Aaleel.
“Do not worry for them Aaleel, for Kya and Alamis are two of the finest warriors in Theallis, and all the cities of their training are well within the protected lands,” Yuriel said.
“Where am I to go?”
“You will accompany me to the city of Oren’grel within the Forest of La’Til, where you shall begin your studies in the Temple of Elduin,” she replied, as she sat at the table.
“But first you must eat and recover your strength, for the powers you expended in the defense of Alvayis were great indeed, and that is why you were not awakened with the others of your company,” Yuriel said, as Aaleel walked over and sat down at the table as well.
“There is something I wish you ask you.”
“What is it Aaleel?”
“I thought that I would no longer be weakened by the power of my blade once I reached Theallis, but still my body became weak after my battle with Zentris and her avatar,” Aaleel said.
“Though it is true that the power that can be channeled through that blade is limitless, you must realize that you yourself are not all powerful,” Yuriel said before she put a small piece of food into her mouth.
“With training and time in Theallis the amount of power you can summon from your body will grow, and one day in the future there may come a time when your power may be greater than any,” she added.
“What of Alvayis, when we departed the city was heavily damaged, and the ranks of it warriors depleted,” Aaleel said concerned.
“Reinforcements have been sent to Alvayis, do not worry for those within the city.”
“That is good.” Aaleel said, as she began to eat of the food, which had a taste more delicious and savory than any she had ever had in Vana’diel. There was soft fruit setting to the side of tender meat, which she did not recognize as any animal.
“So the food is to your liking?” Yuriel asked smiling, as Aaleel nodded her head, and continued to eat.
