Chapter XXI - The Truth Revealed

“Wha…WHAT?!” Aaleel screamed through broken breath, as she felt like she had been hit in the stomach by Yuriel’s words. She felt at the same time confusion as to how she could have betrayed her cause, and anger of having been accused of such an agregious act; but she knew in her heart that the princess’ words were false.
“That is a LIE!” Kerowynn screamed as she dismounted her chocoboo and the very air around her body began to crackle and spark.
“Kero no,” Aaleel ordered extending her arm to Kerowynn, before she looked back to the princess, a face that all of a sudden she no longer recognized as the being who has come asking for her help, that had grown into a friend she could lean on during the trials and tribulations of her journey to meet her destiny.
“Princess, we did not ask to be here, we are only here because you asked us for help, which we granted without condition, and even though you have never told us the entire truth of the steps we have taken here, we have given you benefit of the doubt that what you did, you did in best interest of all involved,” Aaleel said with a sigh before she dropped her head and shook.
“But even as your words have stung me in ways I never thought possible, I will grant you the opportunity to explain them,” Aaleel said as she raised her eyes back to the princess’.
“You may not wish to believe what I tell you Aaleel, but the one thing that will remain true is that you have betrayed yourself,” Yuriel said with a hint of sadness in her voice.
“Do you remember the last words that the Oracle spoke to you before leaving her chamber?” Yuriel asked, and Aaleel began to think hard about her visit to the city in the sky and the many visions and words that were forced upon her.
“She spoke of a bond between all families, especially twins,” Aaleel said shaking her head.
“But I fail to make the link between myself and her words, just as I did in her chamber,” Aaleel added, as she continued to shake her head.
“Because you have no family left in this world,” Yuriel said, and Aaleel only nodded her head.
“Why was your sword created Aaleel?” Yuriel asked.
“Because Galroth used a piece of his evil to create a weapon of great darkness, and Syuji was created to counter such power entering the world,” Aaleel replied, and soon the connection was completed in her mind.
“It’s the swords,” Aaleel said softly.
“The swords are twins,” she added.
“Yes Aaleel, and since the Dark Lord Galroth has wielded his blade for many long years, and it was created from his malice, hatred and animosity, so he has become one with his blade,” Yuriel explained.
“And now that you are becoming one with your blade as well, the two of you are becoming linked as well,” she added.
“So my nightmares were not nightmares as all?” Aaleel said shaking her head.
“No they were visions,” Yuriel replied.
“Ever since the day you accepted your destiny and sought to enter the Dark Realm, the day you saw the Dark Lord’s face in your mind, you began to be linked to him, and he to you,” she continued.
“That is why in my vision Zentris spoke of things that could not be discussed in front of Galroth,” Aaleel said.
“Yes, the Dark Lord has known of the link for some time, and that is how he has known every step of your journey, from yout trip to the dark realm, your journey back home to the Far East, your training in Elduin, which is where I finally realized the truth about your link,” Yuriel explained.
“Why didn’t you tell her?” Kerowynn demanded angrily.
“The Princess thought it more prudent to allow the Dark Lord to think we were unaware of their link, and therefore continue to make his moves based on the plans given to you,” Galdin-Wan said.
“Which is why we are here and not at Toris-Under?” Aaleel said.
“Yes, and now we must strike quickly because we can be sure that the Dark Lord now knows he has been deceived,” Yuriel said, and a within a few moments, the sound of a horn was heard bellowing from Blackhorn.
“We must go now,” Galdin-Wan said.
“We must punch a hole through the Dark Lords defenses so that Aaleel, Galdin-Wan and I may sneak through and confront the Dark Lord,” Yuriel commanded, as Aaleel turned and looked at the Elite.
“I don’t know what will be after this battle, but I want to say that I have been honored to know all of you, and I love you all,” Aaleel said, as she turned and wrapped her arm in the reins.
“This is the time for the salvation of the lands of light,” Galdin-Wan screamed as he drew his Tachi.
“The darkness that has poisoned our lands for so long can now be cast to the four corners of this land and into exile, so that all worlds and all people may be free from the threat of darkness and despair. We will finally be rid of the Dark Lord once and for, for the good,” Galdin-Wan proclaimed as he pointed his tachi towards the stronghold.
“FOR THEALLIS,” he yelled as he leapt from the precipice of the hill upon his chocobo. Aaleel snapped the reins of Nyfel, who sprang to the air as well, and the ground fell away beneath her into the darkness of the chasm hiding beneath the thin mist. Shadows formed in the distance and took the form of fallen ones upon Wyverns, and Black mages began to appear floating upon the air.

“Break through them,” Galdin-Wan yelled as the point of the column engaged the first of the enemy.
“Aid them Elite,” Aaleel commanded as the chocoboo of Kerowynn, Miyatsumi, and Kahlann floated upon the air, and the bodies of the black mages began to crackle and come to light with the colors of many elements, which began to rain down upon thei foes, striking fallen warriors from the saddles of their wyverns. Aaleel darted inbetween the showers of fire and spirals of lightning falling towards her from the powers of the black mages loyal to the Dark Lord. Streams of light flowed from the hands of Nikoloi before they became a blur, as he sent one arrow after another into the body of one of the wyverns sending it falling from the air.
“Our chocoboo are no match for their wyverns,” Kerowynn yelled as one of the warriors of Elindil was struck by the flaming breath of one of the wyverns.
“Then perhaps we require wyverns of our own,” Yuriel said as strands of light began to leap about her body, passing in and out before the seal of the summoner was seen upon the sky in majestic fashion, and from rose emerged the form Aaleel and those who had traveled from Vana’diel had thought to be only the final test of worthiness.
“Aboslute Virtue,” Aaleel said amazed at the sight of the great Aern soaring upon the air beside her, and soon the body of Absolute Virtue began to come to light as well, and from the air beside it sprang the body of many Wynavs which sent streams of white flame upon the wyverns and their riders.
“We may not be able to summon Absolute Virtue, but we can aid the cause,” Zodiaque says as she calls Garuda to her side, and sends the avatar sweeping over her allies creating multiple images of all those near her, and Duncanrun called Diablos to his side to cloak around him in a magic shroud to protect them from the magic of the black mages.
“Come now is the time,” Yuriel yelled as Absolute Virtue and the Wynav punched a hole through the defenses of the Dark Lord and passed over the outer wall of the stronghold, as some of the other members of her company along with the members of the Elite landed upon the ground of the outer ward and enagae the dark warriors in further combat, and cover the advance of those who would face the Dark Lord.
“Stay near me Aaleel,” Yuriel yelled as the small group pressed on towards the top of the hill and the castle.
“Galdin-Wan beware,” Aaleel yelled as a wyrm swooped in behind them, and released a spiraling stream of flame towards them, which clipped the wing of Galdin-Wan’s chocoboo, which tumbled from the air under the weight of its rider.
“Galdin-Wan no,” Aaleel screamed as she snapped the reins of her chocoboo and dove towards her falling ally.
“Aaleel no,” Yuriel yelled excitedly as she extended her hand.
“Dive Nyfel,” Aaleel yelled as the chocoboo pinned its wings to its sides and dove towards Galdin-Wan with as much speed as it had grace.
“No Aaleel do not,” Galdin-Wan yelled as he shoke his head to Aaleel and pointed towards the castle, before his eyes turned, and Aaleel followed their stare to the wyrm which had forced him from the sky, and had turned its focus to Aaleel.
“Give me your hand,” Aaleel demanded as she drew near to him. She clinched her hand upon his kote and gave the order for Nyfel to pull up in the face of the approaching hillside, and Nyfel spread his wings and leapt upon a current of air, but struggled to hold its path as Aaleel leaned heavily over the left side, with Galdin-Wan hanging from her arm.
“The wyrm is upon us,” Galdin-Wan yelled and Aaleel turned and looked back upon the wyrm as it prepared to release its flames, but before it could a white javelin struck it and forced it from the air. Aaleel turned and lookd up to Yuriel who floated upon the air on her wyvern flanked by Absolute Virtue.
“Climb Nyfel,” Aaleel yelled, but the uneven weight was too much, and Nyfel clipped the top of the hill’s face and bounced forward before it tumbled and threw Aaleel and Galdin-Wan upon the ground. Aaleel laid momentarily still before she rose to her feet and ran to Nyfel, which favored his left wing and leg.
“Do not try to stand my friend, you have done your job,” Aaleel said as she smiled and rubbed Nyfel on the head.
“Now rest,” she said, as Yuriel laned beside them and dismounted Wysel.
“Watch over him, we shall return,” Yuriel said as she rubbed the head of her chocoboo. Galdin-Wan favored his left side greatly as he made his way to Aaleel and Yuriel, and he grimaced noticeably as he bowed his head to Aaleel.
“I thank you for your aid lady Aaleel,” he said thankfully. “But you should not have risked your life in such a reckless manner for it is far too important,” he added, equally as sternly. They walk up to the crest up the plateau before the land began to fall towards the entrance to the castle, which was veiled in shadows that had seemed to fall over the castle after their assault began.
“The darkness seeks to hide itself from our eyes,” Galdin-Wan said as he drew his sword.
“Then let it be revealed,” Yuriel said as she sent Absolue Virtue ahead of them, and soon three large shadows were exposed by the avatar’s radiant light.
“Wait, there were only two wrym statues when I last looked from the ridge,” Aaleel said as she drew her katana.
“That is simple chosen one, one is not a statue, but the instead the mighty beast that these others and all other statues of it’s kind were patterend after,” they heard, as one of the forms began to move, and mighty wings spread in both directions.
“Where there is Bahamut, the Dark Lord’s witch cannot be far,” Galdin-Wan said angrily as he gripped the hilt of his Tachi tightly.
“Zentris,” Aaleel said with great disgust.
“I cannot allow you into the presence of my Lord,” Zentris said, as she appeared on the shoulder of her avatar, and the shroud of darkness that had surrounded the area lifted, and allowed the light of the moon to shine down upon them.
“You cannot hope to stop us all witch,” Galdin-Wan said, but Zentris only smiled, as stood confidently upon her avatar.
“You have no idea of the power you face, nor do you understand that it’s power in beyond all, even those of the Princess’ summoning,” Zentris proclaimed.
“That is a lie, there is no creature more powerful than Absolute Virtue in any world,” Aaleel yelled.
“Your mind is twisted by your memories of Absolute Virtue under the power of High Priest Zoron, but without his powers, it falls short of that of Bahamut,” Zentris said.
“And now that it has been weakened during the siege of this castle, there is no way it will stand in the face of my avatar’s power,” Zentris said, as she continued to smile.
“She is right Aaleel,” Yuriel said through a sigh.
“But though my avatar is weakened, it has enough strength to occupy yours and give Aaleel time to reach your master,” Yuriel said, as drew her sword, and the blade which had gleamed in the light of moon because surrounded by a light more pure than that of her avatar.
“So come witch, try and stop us,” Yuriel challenged.
“I have waited a long time for this fight Princess; it will be my pleasure,” Zentris said as flames sparked to light and began to swirl around her blade.

“Go Aaleel, I will hold this witch,” Yuriel said, and in a flash she vanished, and appeared before Zentris, who was barely able to parry her blow before she vanished as well, and the following moments became a blur of teleporting bodies and the clashings of fire and light.
“Do not let them pass Bahamut,” Zentris yelled, as her avatar roared and reared its head back to unleash its flame.
“I turned back your flame before, and I shall do so again,” Aaleel said as she held her blade before her.
“No Aaleel, do not waste your energy,” Galdin-Wan said as Absolute Virtue wrapped them into a ball formed of its wings, and when the avatar drew back from around them, all three had endured the attack. Absolute Virtue screamed as its right hand came to light, which stretched out both above and below it, and took the form of a javelin, before the avatar drew it back and released it into the air striking Bahanut in the wing, which immediately began to turn into stone. No sooner had the wing turned completely to stone it was shattered by the advance of the last remaining Wynav, which exploded into fragments of light as it struck the wing. Bahamut roared loudly in pain as it fell to its right with loss of its wing.
“Come, now is our chance,” Galdin-Wan said as he grabbed Aaleel by the arm, and pulled her away from the battle, and she looked to Absolute Virtue, and then the Yuriel in the distance as she continued her battle with Zentris. Bahamut roared as it prepared itself for its mightiest attack, and Aaleel and Galdin-Wan ran up the stairs leading to the courtyard before the gates of the castle beyond the statues of the mighty wyrms. But before the could reach the courtyard the King of Wyrms leapt into the air flapping its remaining wing allowing it to glide low to the ground and land before them in the courtyard. Absolute Virtue’s body came to light as strings of light leapt upon it, and soon the sky itself became dark, and multiple meteors and comets began to streak down from the sky striking Bahamut as it released it giant flare. Aaleel raised he katana, but before the flare could reach them Absolute Virtue fell between them, and there was a blinding explosion of fire and shattering comets and meteors. Aaleel opened her eyes, which were still blurred from the force of the collision of powers from the two avatars. Galdin-Wan laid upon her, havin used his body to shield her, and there was no sign of Absolute Virtue. Bahamut laid upon its belly, its head extended before, its body shredded by the attack of its defeated foe.
“You will not pass,” Bahamut said weakly, and though the avatar was unable to lift its head, light began to glow within its jaws.
“You will not stop us,” Galdin-Wan said, as he leapt to his feet, and charged the avatar, as it began to open its jaws. Galdin-Wan’s body exploded into white light as he unleashed his ultimate power and prepared to start a chain of skills.
“Tachi: Kasha,” Galdin-Wan yelled and many petals leapt upon the wind and swirled around, before they became still and floated upon the air.
“Tachi: Hangetsu,” he cried as a half moon appeared over the avatar, and he gripped the blade of his Tachi tightly as the blade shined with a golden light, even as the beast began to release its flame.
“Farewell beast, for when the Princess finishes your master, you will never be seen again; Tachi: Wankan,” he yelled, as the shape of a crown surrounded the avatar, and soon the ring climbed into the sky forming a golden cylinder, which slammed shut upon the avatar and exploded into golden and dark shards from the power of the skill and the breaking of the avatar. Aaleel was knocked back by the force of the attack, and when she rose to her feet all that remained upon the shattered stone of the courtyard was the still body of Galdin-Wan.
“GALDIN-WAN!” Aaleel yelled as she ran to his side.
“Aaleel, it is up to you know, you must find the strength within yourself to truly become one with your blade,” he struggled to say as blood trickled from his mouth.
“Once you do, not even the Dark Lord will be able to stop you,” he added, as Aaleel lifted her head to a deafening yell.
“NO!!” Zentris yelled as she appreared at the edge of the courtyard and settled upon the cracked stone.
“You will wish you never traveled to this land,” Zentris said as she began to step towards Aaleel, but before she could take a step Yuriel appeared before Aaleel.
“We are not finished witch, and now both our most powerful allies have been defeated,” Yuriel said, as Zentris nodded her head.
“Then I guess we will have to finish our duel with our next best,” Zentris said as her body began to crackle with strands of energy, and the seal of the summoner appeared upon the ground before the form of Diablos rose from it.
“In that regard you are right,” Yuriel said, as strands of white light leapt in and out of her body, and her eyes shinned brightly as her hair rose from her shoulders. The sky above the courtyard began to swirl as a whirlpool, and long white tentacles stretched out from the whirlpool and pulled out the body of a large yovra, which dropped into the sky lowered itself above the courtyard. Three large spheres of white light appeared around them, two beside the princess and one before her; and from them emerged the bodies of Ru’Phuabo.
“But I believe my second best in better than yours,” she added, but Zentris only dropped her head and shook it before she began to laugh.
“I guess this could have ended no other way, for it has been destined since these events were set in motion that the Chosen One would face Lord Galroth,” Zentris said calmly.
“But now the prophecy has come full circle, and nothing more is guaranteed, so go forth Chosen One, for now all shall be decided, by your death or his,” she added.
“It will be your master’s” Aaleel decreed, as she turned to walk into the castle.
“Her fate is no longer in either of our hands, but now we shall finish our dance and decide who shall be alive to see the victor of the final battle,” Aaleel heard Yuriel say behind her, and her words her followed by the sound of clashing blades. Aaleel did not turn to watch the battle, she only pressed on through the large black doors of the castle. There was a long hallway with a black marble floor, lined with smoked black statues and suits of armor bearing weapons. Aaleel walked slowly down the hallway until she began to feel a presence that could only be the Dark Lord herself. She emerged from the hallway into a large hall with a ceiling, which climbed as high as the castle itself. It had a glass center to its ceiling, and strands of moonlight crept down into the center of the room, breaking through the light of the dark flames that burned in every corner of the room upon black marble statues of the Dark Lord. There were four stone columns rising to the ceiling, and banners bearing the crest of the Dark Lord hung on the walls to her left and her right. Beyond the stands of moonlight falling into the center of the room, she could see a form standing before the entrance to the far hallway leading from the hall.

“Galroth,” she said, as she stepped through the strands of moonlight and the Dark Lord became visible before her.
“So you have finally come Chosen One,” Galroth asked as he held Salisitor before him, and the blade smoked and burned with black flame.
“I have come to stop the darkness that you have inflicted upon these lands, and those I traveled from,” Aaleel said angrily, but Galroth only laughed.
“What is so funny if I may ask?” Aaleel demanded.
“You have come all this way, faced so many trials and battles, and after it all you still ignorant of the truth of present circumstances,” he replied.
“And what is that?”
“You and your people created me, it is you who have brought the darkness upon your lands,” he replied.
“Despite each and every person who went through the trials being warned that the path the walked would lead to destruction if unchanged, yourself included Chosen One,” he said grinning.
“You are a liar, we were never told of Theallis or any darkness that would develop here due to any actions that we took upon Vana’diel,” she replied angrily.
“Not it is you who are they liar, for you were warned Chosen One, but it was you and all others of your world who chose not to listen,” he said.
“Yes the people of your land were warned, but instead of helping each other, you became driven by the envy of others that would eventually twist you, and instead of challenging the darkness growing in those whose approval you required you were bond without action by the cowardice that consumed you. You thought that you were better than the other races that walked your lands and you began to be overwhelmed by the arrogance that disfigured the people of your land from what they started as, and when the other races would not bow to your will your people lost control to the rage that burned your souls,” he said as Aaleel thought heavily upon the words which she found deep in the memories of her mind.
“All because you did not care for the well being of those you shared the land with, and thus I was created once your people were finally defeated by the apathy that plagued them,” he said, and all Aaleel could do was shake her head.
“But still you were warned again, and still you ignored the virtues once held by your people. You did not have the Fortitude to show Temperance or Prudence in your persecution of those who would not agree to your ways, and Justice lost it eyes as you forced them into mountains and hills, unwilling to share your world,” he said sternly.
“You lost Faith that all upon your land could Love each other and live together in peace, and once that happened, all Hope for your people was lost,” he continued, as a tear fell from Aaleel’s eye and rolled over the curve of her cheek before it fell upon the marble floor.
“I was once one of the light, but your people forced the darkness into me, your ancestors created me, Zentris and any other you have sought to kill upon your journey, and yet you stand here with the audacity to say that your plight is of my creation,” he blurted angrily.
“But yet, here we stand, with only one outcome, the death of one of us,” he said, as Aaleel suddenly became consumed by a feeling of accountability, even though she did not live in the days in question.
“I can not make up for my people’s past, all I can do is seek to ensure our future.”
“Do you feel it will be any different than the one they made for themselves many years ago?” He asked, but Aaleel only stood silent.
“Have your people changed so much that such things will not come to pass again?”
“I do not know,” Aaleel replied solemnly.
“Yes you do, you know as well as I that the envy, apathy, cowardice, rage and arrogance dwells in your people as much now, as it did then, they will not change and you know it,” he lectured.
“They must at least be given the chance, and unfortunately, the only way to grant it to them is to kill you,” she said, as the zeal for securing his death she held when she entered the castle had vanished.
“Well then there is one more thing that you have not realized.”
“And what is that Dark One?”
“That you cannot kill me without also killing yourself…”

The Final Battle of Light and Darkness

It had seemed like forever since Aaleel first saw Yuriel upon Lufaise Meadows and set in motion a journey that had taken her to places she never knew existed, and granted her powers she never thought she coud possess. But after all the days of the journey she found herself at its end, the prophecy that had picked her soon to be fulfilled by her victory or her death, as she looked into the eyes of the being who had set all made all she had been through necessary.
“You will not call accuse me of lying?” Galroth asked, but Aaleel only shook her head.
“You have always chosen your words carefully, but you have not lied to me, so I feel that even if you do not give me the entire truth…”
“I will give you more than the princess has,” he said cutting her off.
“Do not forget that we have been linked through our swords, and though the princess may have told you her reasons for not telling you about that link, still she has not explaind why she looks at you with so much sadness,” he added, as he stepped towards her with his sword lowered and started to circle her.
“The princess has told you that you must become one with your blade in order to defeat me, and though this is true I do not believe the princess has truly explained to you the consequences of such a thing,” he warned.
“You know why your blade was created?”
“Yes, because you poured some of your evil into the forging of yours and broke the balance of your world,” she said angrily.
“Then let me ask you a question.”
“What?”
“If you are successful in killing me, will you not just reverse the unbalance of this world and all others by wielding such a weapon, and channeling such power?”
“I will do what you could not due to your lust for power and you hatred for all around you, I will return the sword to the fountain,” Aaleel said nobly.
“It is not that simple Chosen One,” Galroth said grinning as he shook his head.
“Did you not hear the words of the Princess to this very morn, after you looked into my mind, did not hear her warning?”
“What warning?”
“Did you hear her say such power cannot be laid down? He questioned as he grinned.
“I heard her voice in my head as clearly as I hear your now,” he added.
“I will return the blade to the fountain, and without the blade to channel the power I cannot wield it,” Aaleel responded.
“If you must become one with your blade in order to defeat me, how can you return the blade to the fountain…”
“Without returning myself to the fountain as well,” Aaleel said cutting him off, and finishing his thought.
“So you have finally figured it all out. You were never intended to see the days after this mission to save your world,” Galroth lectured.
“Now you know why you do not see yourself in the days to come after our battle, and why the Princess looks at you with so much sadness in her eyes,” he added as he continued to circle her.
“But it is not sadness, it is guilt over knowing that she did not give you a choice, but would decide that you must die for a world that you would have no knowledge of if she had never walked into your life,” he said angrily.
“It does not make the cause any less noble, nor does it remove its need,” Aaleel said as she tried to hide her uncertainty and her questions from the Dark Lord. How could they not tell her, how was she never given the choice of her death or her worlds salvation? Would she have walked upon this path knowing it would mean that the very world she would save she would never see again? Does it even matter now?
“Even now you struggle with questions, and trust, which you have never truly given to Princess Yuriel, for you have always known that she was not being completely forthcoming about your journey here,” he said.
“Ironic is it not?” He asked.
“What is that Dark One?”
“That it is said in the prophecy that brought you here that you would decide the fate of all worlds, but yet you were not given the knowledge of the journey ahead to decide for yourself if you wanted to walk it or not,” he replied.
“None of that matters now, all that matters is doing what is right.”
“But what is right Chosen One that is the true question?”
“What is right is doing what I feel will grant a future to those I care for,” she said.
“Then there is no need for us to fight Chosen One, we can both live to see the coming days, you in your land and I here in Theallis,” he said.
“I never held any desire to inhabit walk upon the lands of Vana’diel, so if you would like to return to your lands and use your power to save it from the beastmen nations than I will command my legions to return to Theallis and never set foot within your lands again,” he explained.
“Your lands are safe and secure, and with both of us still alive, there will be balance throughout the worlds,” he added.
“And Theallis?”
“The fate of Theallis will be determined upon the battlefield as all things should be, and now that the portal between our lands is open again, the remnants of the army from the first war may finally leave your lands and return to Theallis where they may have a hand in the outcome of the coming battles.”
“You want me to leave Theallis to its death the face of overwhelming odds once your warriors have all returned from Vana’diel.”
“Why do you even care, for Lord Zoron and Princess Yuriel had no problem using you and leaving you to yours,” he questioned, and at first Aaleel could not think of an answer to his question.
“All I can trust is myself and what I think is right, and in my heart I now that once you have conquered Theallis you will turn your eyes to Vana’diel, and while weakened from the battles with the beastmen nations, you will seek to sweep over our lands as well,” she said.
“But I could never leave Theallis to such a fate even if I do not agree with the decisions of its leaders, for there have been many people in this land who have showed my kindness and given me many things, I could not abandon them any more than I could look those I treveled with here in the eye and explain such actions,” she added.
“Then it seems that the prophecy will indeed be fulfilled this day, though I never had a doubt in my mind that such things would occur,” he said.
“For those such as yourself, your beliefs are your world, and abandoning them would mean bringing an end to everything that you know,” he said.
“That is why you are having such a difficult time accepting what the Princess has done to you,” he added.

“Enough stalling,” she blurted angrily.
“Stalling, you dare imply that I Galroth am afraid to face one new to the lands I have inhabited since their early days,” he says, as even the throwing open of his cape sends a wave of energy through her, which lifted her hair from her shoulders.
“Your training to perfect on art will not come close to preparing you to face one who has mastered many,” he lectured to her, before he lifted his sword before him.
“I have wielded this blade for millennia, while you have wielded yours for only a fraction of that time,” he continued.
“What makes you think you can defect me?” He demended angrily.
“You talked about what I believe in, and what I believe more than anything is that no matter my path here, no matter my faith in those that sent me here, that what is right will win out in the end,” she replied.
“I wish I could show you just how wrong you are Chosen One, but unfortunately you never will see or accept how wrong you truly are for the only proof of your folly is your death,” he said.
“Then try to acquire it,” Aaleel said as she raised her katana.
“So be it,” Galroth said as he raised Salisitor and in a flash he was upon her, but he did not seem as fast as he did the first time they fought. Galroth called forth five shadows of himself and sent them towards Aaleel, who called forth shadows of herself and sent them towards those of Galroth, and there was a clash of light and darkness, amd shards from the collision fell about the room as drops of mist sprinkled in the moonlight trickling down through the opening in the ceiling. But when as the mist of shards cleared, she could no longer see the Dark Lord, but in her mind’s eye she saw him behind her, and anticipated the strike of his blade. She rolled away from the strike and rose quickly to her feet to lauuch an attack of her own. He was visibly surprised that she had dodged his strike, and he was barely able to block the strike of her Katana, but he could not block her kick, nor the blast of Chi energy that followed in and threw him across the room. He landed upon his feet and glared across the room at her with burning eyes.
“What, how…”
“There are many disciplines taught in the Temple of Elduin, you assumed much in thinking that I would only study the techniques of the one that I entered with knowledge of.”
“I does not matter what you learned, you will never be able to defeat me,” he yelled in anger as he leap high into the air, almost touching the ceiling as he called a black wyvern to his side, which swept down before him and released a stream of flame from its mouth. She created a shield around her with Syuji and parried the flames before she shuriken of light to her hand, which became a blur or movement as she threw one shuriken after the other causing the wyvern to pull up from its drive. She took the opportunity to leap to the air and call four shadows of herself to her side, two she sent through the body of the wyvern shattering it, and the others she kept by her side, one of which absorbed the strike from the Dark Lord and disappeared from her side. She swung her blade and bright crescents of light leapt from the blade and rushed towards Galroth, but he only swung his sword through the air creating a mighty wave of dark energy that shattered her attack and swept her from her feet throwing her to the floor.
“You will have to better than that,” he said, as he grinned.
“Huton: Shi,” he yelled as a wave of wind swept across the room tearing the banners and suits of armor from the wall as it swept towards her. But she stood calm in the face of the Dark Lord’s power as large slabs of rock appeared around her and began to circle her with increasing speed, as they pulled the wave of wind into a twister around her before the slabs of rock shattered the twister and disappeared.
“What, you are no magician,” Galroth blurted.
“I would not expect on of the darkness to understand for you only look at the elements of nature as a means for attack and destruction, but one of the light see all ways of wielding them, even if it is to call them in their defense,” she explained.
“It seems Master Cairis has taught you much in your time in the temple, but not even his teachings may allow you to stand against the power of of a soul of darkness as it is consumed for the purpose of destruction,” he said as waves or dark energy started to emanate from his body, and the visions of skulls began to appear and swirl around him as well. He eyes which already shown red ignited with red fire, and dark flames leapt from the blade of Salisitor as he held it before him.
“Are you ready to die Chosen One, for you will burn just as the cities or your lands,” he said before he rushed towards her, as black flame trailed behind him. She braced herself for the blow but it still knocked her to the ground. She rolled out of the way of the next strike, which carved through the floor, and sprayed her with marble fragments as she rose to her feet. He was on top of her almost immediately and even as she called images of herself to her defense, he only swung Salisitor through the air and sent a wave of darkness through everything in front of him, which shattered all of the images and sent her crashing into the wall. She saw him as he rushed towards her, and she was barely able to lift her two katan in her defense, which caught the hilt of his blade, just as its tip perced her shoulder.
“Now, let the prophecy be fulfilled and all be decided,” he said, as his blade pressed deeper into her shoulder, as she was unable to hild back his power.
“You shall die, and these lands as well as yours will come to ruin, they shall burn in dark flame just as you are about to,” he added, and the faces of all those she would let down by failing began to swirl through her mind, and soon the thoughts of those she loved began to build inside her and she began to feel and power within her that she had never felt before.
“No, you have not won yet Dark One,” she said as she saw her arms start to glow with light, and the the blade of Syuji began to burn with white flame.
“What, this can’t be,” Galroth said confused, as she began to push away his blade, which drew slowly from her shoulder. She began to hear rhe voice of every part of nature around her, and her eyes began to see through a white light.
“But it is Galroth, for the time has indeed come to end this,” she said broke the lock of their blades and stood away from the wall.
“Ah, so it seems that you have finally become one with your blade, and it seems one with the light as well,” Galroth said grinning.
“So it seems, and now that I have, there is no way that a blade formed with but a fraction of the power of the darkness may stand against a weapon that can channel the power of the light without limits.”
“And now that you have sacrificed so much of your strength to draw upon the power of your evil soul you cannot stand against me,” she added.
“You presume much Chosen One, this fight is far from over, you power is not nearly as ancient as mine,” Galroth said as he raised his sword and charged her, but his power was no longer enough budge her from her stance as she caught his blade with hers and pushed him away.
“The power of the light created these lands and all others, there is no power more ancient, nor is there a power greater,” she said as she charged him and knocks him from his stance, and forced him to retreat from the force of her attacks. He called five images of himself to aid him, but even as he sent them at Aaleel to stop her onslaught, she leaped to the air and slashed through each in turn with Syuji and Unji, before she landed upon the floor and returned Unji to her side. She created shuriken of pure light within her hand and hurled them at the Dark Lord who raised his sword to parry them. There was a loud scream of pain, and the Dark Lord fell to the floor, his blade filled with holes and his body pierced by the shuriken.
“I would ask you to stand down, but unfortunately that is not an option, for the only way to ensure to future of all lands is to end this now,” she said as she charged him; but in a bright flash of light a shield appeared before him, which split into many others and surrounded him.
“You will not defeat me this day Chosen One, though you have become powerful, you do not have as much power at your command as I do, “ he said, as he face passed could be seen though the gaps between the shields as they spun around him.
“I’m afraid that this will end now Dark Lord, your time has come to an end,” she said as her body began to burn with white fire.
“Formless strike,” she yelled as she drove forward and shattered the shield between herself and the Dark Lord, before she drove the blade of Syuji into his chest. Black blood rushed forward from his mouth and she drove the blade deeper into him.
“I wish there was another way, but thrse is no redeeming you Galroth, you must be destroyed,” she said sadly.
“Meikyo Shusui,” she yelled as her body exploded with energy.
“Blade: Sochin,” she said, as white symbols of the Temple of Elduin appeared upon the air and circled about them, as a great would filled with light appeared upon the chest of Galroth.
“Blade: Empi.” She pressed her blade into the wound as a bird formed of white light appeared behind her and spread its wings before it swept them both up and carried them to the top of the hall.
“Blade: Unsu,” she cried as the clouds above the hall began to swirl until the took the form of a large handm which shattered the glass part of the ceiling and slammed into Dark Lord and drove him down to the floor and smashed his body upon. Aaleel followed the path of the clouds down to the floor and delivered one last strike upon the Dark Lord as the air about them exploded, and when the shards of light and darkness had settled upon the floor, she looked down to see the Dark Lord as he once was. His skin was smooth and his eyes black. His armor had disappeared and he lay in a robe of white and blue. Salisitor was shattered into many pieces and all its darkness had been swept away by the clouds and drew up through the hole in the glass and returned to the sky. All that was left were the strands of moonlight raining down upon them.

“Well it seems that you were wrong Chosen One, Child of the Light, it seems that you did have within you the power to redeem me,” he said as he coughed up blood, which ran red.
“I barely recognize the feeling of the light for I have been separated from it for so long, but I must thank you for returning it to me before my death,” he added, and even with all the dark deeds that the Dark Lord has brought upon her land as well as that of Theallis, she felt in her heart a sadness for him, for he had only been a victim of prophecy and the world’s struggle to keep balance just as she had been. She felt a tear welling up in her eye, which leapt onto her cheek and rolled over it before it fell upon the floor.
“Do not cry for me, you have saved me, and you should be happy that I may feel the light once again, and return to it upon my death,” he said as he looked up at her.
“I will see you again soon, for I know that you will do what is right to ensure the safety of all you hold dear,” he added before his body shattered into many shards of light, which swirled about her and then spirled into the air, flowing up through the ceiling and into the clouds where they appeared as a star momentarily before it disappeared.
“I cannot do this anymore,” she said as she dropped Syuji upon the ground and remained upon her knees and looked up through the broken glass ceiling into the sky, as tears rolled down over her cheeks.
“Do not feel sorrow for Galroth, nor any other that you have returned to the light during you quest here or in the Dark Realm, for they are better of than they were under the control of the darkness,” she heard, as she turned and saw Yuriel standing in the doorway to the hall. She did not know if she should feel anger, or distrust for the Princess who had started her upon this path knowing that would end in her death regardless of the outcome of the final battle, but never telling her.
“I care for those whose life my actions affect,” Aaleel said as she stared at the Princess.
“Do you cry for anyone Princess, or do you just use them as pieces upon a board?” She asked angrily.
“Then it seems that you figured out how things must end,” Yuriel said a she dropped her eyes from Aaleel’s.
“I am sorry Aaleel, it was a difficult decision,” Yuriel said sadly.
“If you were sorry you would have told me before we came to this point,” Aaleel said.
“Would you have not walked the same path if I had told you?” Yuriel asked.
“I would have done what was right for all I care for,” Aaleel replied.
“Then why do such things matter if the outcome would not have changed?”
“Because it would have made me seem more as a friend than a pawn,” Aaleel said, as her words visibly hurt the Princess.
“If I would have told you, could you have kept such things from those you love,” Yuriel questioned.
“Would you have had them walk all the days from the start of your journey knowing that you would not see the days after it was completed?”
“I felt it best that only one person walk with such sadness,” Yuriel said, as a tear crept from her eye and fell to the floor.
“I am sorry Princess,” Aaleel said as she dropped her eyes to the floor.
“This is no time for sadness nor apologies, for there is still one last fight that needs to be fought,” Yuriel said, as Aaleel nodded her head and picked up Syuji from the floor.
They walked from the castle and stepped upon the destroyed courtyard, where some of the warriors of Elindil tended to Galdin-Wan who had endured through the fight with Bahamut.
“What of Zentris?” Aaleel asked.
“She is destroyed, and sadly she was not redeemed before her presence left this world,” Yuriel said sadly.
“AALEEL!!” She heard, as she looked up and saw Kerowynn running towards her, followed by Duncanrun and Zodiaque. Kerowynn gave her a hug as the rest of the Elite came slowly up the hill, and it did Aaleel’s heart well to see that none had fallen in the siege of Blackhorn.
“Does this mean that Galroth is dead,” Zodiaque asked, and Aaleel nodded her head.
“Then it is over,” Duncanrun said.
“There is still one battle to be fought, for our home lands are still undersiege by the beastmen nations,” Aaleel said.
“Then let us return to Vana’diel so that we may end this and return to dats before all of this began,” Nikoloi said.
“Then quickly refill your quivers and tend to your wounds and I will open a portal to Vana’diel once all are ready,” Yuriel said.
“I can’t believe that all of this will soon be at an end,” Zodiaque said, and Aalele thought to herself that she had never spoken truer words, for once the coming battle was over, for her all things would truly come to an end.

Very Nice Aal! Keep up the great work!
