theres this ring...

Beat Ifirit.
 
Since I solo prime avatars often on rdm/nin for others, I fought Ifrit quite a few times and got this ring and the flame belt. Firesday is now great soloing when I can use these two pieces for the extra attack.
 
so i can get this quest w/o smn unlocked then..

I can just talk to npc to start it? (w/ fame lvl 6)
 
Wow i just checked out those rings, very situational but very hot, I'd get them if they were worth the inventory space loss...
 
You stop using them after...shit i forgot, fireday just passed, maybe next time.

That's about it in a nutshell. 9/10 times this or Lightning Ring can be of any use they're sitting in my locker and I'm in a situation where I can't get back and thusly get them and/or forget I flat out had em at all due to lack of use...
 
I completely abuse these things in my exp parties. The lightning ring that is. I always keep that thing with me since for some unknown reason its lightningday at least once in all my exp parties. I'd love to start abusing that ring once I finally have some space soon
 
By the way, you can fight any avatar whether or not you've unlocked SMN, and it all goes quite normally. The only difference is, when it comes time to choose your reward, you do *not* get an option for a pact with the avatar. You have to have SMN unlocked (and not already *have* the pact of course) for that option to appear.
 
On a similar note... I had the Fire & Lightning rings, never wore em except for show so I tossed them. I can't get them back now, can I?
 
you should be able to, rings were still on the list of rewards when I used to do the a lot.

I'd say no, since they're removed from the list when you take them, and I threw away Titans cudgel, and it never reappeared.

hmm.. maybe i should go for both, with those 2 and a deadeye earring from the solo ENM i can get my ranged attack up to +45 with those 3 (for about 20 min during nighttime on firesday)

That's really odd, because the Rust-B-Gone and such reappears on the list once you trade them...
