This thread was inspired my the other thread going now about SATA

I was wondering again about different pt set ups and I though thf cannon. Now I realize that this would require a really cordinated group of thfs. I all thf sub nin this Idea is mainly for 74-75 but if done good can be done with just having ichi. All the thf simply SATA eachother in a beautiful dance of thf killin mobs ubber fast. I know how much dmg a good SATA does let alone 6 of em should kill just about anything

LOL that is all...:nono:

the other day my Ls went up to lufews meadow(sp) with 3thf brd rdm and smn was pretty fast kills

I saw a diagram of a Thf Burn PT once. I cant remember the setup and although it looked pretty good on paper, it just seemed too sketchy.

It definalty sound like a difficult thing to organize but I would mind testing this out on sevral levels my thf is lvl 35 so I can test with 5 other thfs and some hl thf can try it I wanna see how this works

The setup I saw was made for VT mobs, namely Decorative Weapons in The Shrine of Ru'avitau. I know Two(Maybe only one. I can't remember if it's supposed to be 3 or 4 Thf in the PT.) Thfs are supposed to sub Warrior, and two others sub Ninja. /War would voke for initial SATA onto a /Nin, afterwards the other /Nin would get on the otherside of the mob so he can get SATA on him. Not sure what songs the Brd is supposed to sing, but most likely Mambo and March, with a Rdm enfeebling and curing the Thieves.

If all the THF's are similarly equiped its fine, but toss one uber THF in there and he will be tanking.

thfx4 rdm brd does well in lufaise on greater birds.

I've found that a lot of setups can be very effective, even on par with your average good group. Unfortunately, many people are afraid to try new things and would much rather go with the tried and true than the untested or undocumented.

I personally think that with the right setup, and the right strategy, a THF cannon could be great. You should probably try to see if you can get some experienced thieves from QCDN to experiment with you and help you work out a solid strategy.

THief is a farming class dude how can you do a cannon with it
j/k. I admit daggers do a nasty ws but unlike other games normal hits matter alot when it comes to dmg.So you do need other DDs.And don't forget subtle blow... slower stronger hits are better than fast less dmg hits cuz they give tp to mob

I've been in a thief cannon before. Can't recall the names of the others >.> but it worked pretty easily. The thing is, everyone tanks. and you become 'very' choosy about the mobs you fight. trying not to go for heavy AOE mobs. It was farely low level at that, (around level 35) on bats.

Basic strat is, One thief pulls, auto attacks, No one else engages, and two other thiefs set up for SATA, the 4th stands behind puller. Once Sata goes off, someone SATA's the puller, and just rotate out the first two thiefs, then rotate the other two. It takes a bit of planing, but usualy most of us would preload and not auto engage.

I had a few bloody bolts on me, so that did fine for any Hits I may have taken during.

If you want to think about it more, think of the Creeping Doom BCNM. There were countless strats for a 3 man team of Thiefs to go in there. If you follow that guidline, it's actualy really easy. Plus, it's alot of moving around and camra changing. It's a nice switch from the norm.

Also, the person mentioned before that if one Thief is a bit better geared than the others... no... he won't tank, he'll just cause others to tank more heavily. Then again, like any good DD's, they know how to back off, and unequip some of that gear so that everyone has a pretty much balanced Dex/AGI Score.

NIN, RDM/WHM, THF x 4.
TA+WS onto NIN if all is well, and solo SA.
4 TA+WS onto tank every minute.
</yes>

Incorrect.

If 1 sata dont transfer hate the next one definitely will.

Now, when you have 4 war/nin, and 3 is gimp and one is pimped out things tend to get tough though.

And on the subject.
6 thf/nin wouldn't be the best, since you will always get dmg, it's impossible to go unharmed for a longer period of time.
4 thf/nin, a brd and a rdm would probably do great in say sky on d. weapons.

They dont hit as hard as other melee, but they hit fast and the weapon skills do just as much.

I've done this a few times... decent exp.
I prefer duoing with a NIN or another THF though.

A farming class, lol. Yeah, idiot, that's all SE intended for THF. To farm. THF/WAR can do some pretty insane damage (with good gear)... and my dragon harness + subligar over halves the TP I give a mob. thx. I've outdamaged many so-called "DD classes", /war sub = fast TP and good DMG with blau/tatami.

There'd be no reason to invite a nin to a thiefburn party. Hate can be planted on 1-2 designated thief tanks, and at 75 a thief's 3 shadows last longer than a nin's ichi and ni. 298 evasion skill and 60-something evasion+, with agility buff of 20-something, not counting food--there is no better blink tanker than a thief when there are four thieves in a party and hate control isn't an issue.

It might be easier to have one thief tank instead of two. I can basically go out and poke the same catopblebas (VT) until it dies or I get tired and never even use Ichi or a bolt. It would boost your damage and free up the party for a more weaponskill-spam style type of roaming party. And with haste from a red mage, meh. One thief tank will more than do.

Mobs at 75 have what...3500 hp? Sounds doable. Sam/thf might be more interesting in the 2-3 DD slots in that party. You have to make the setup easy though. You can think of ten ways to do it perfectly, but that kind of talent and competency can't realistically be found in this game.

If I tried it, I'd try:
thf/nin tank. Get the shy soloer or the dynamis puller for this role.
thf/war. dd, hate control
thf/war. dd, hate control
sam/thf. dd, spams opportunities for a skillchain?
brd/whm. bard stuff
Rdm/whm. Haste, cure

You should see 6 THF/NINs all at 33 in Garliage. If they do it right, they can take out a mob VERY fast.

I've been in a THF, THF, THF, THF, BRD, WHM party before.

It is fun as hell. I would recommend having a ninja over all thief - but yes.. it can be done. This was level 55 on crabs in Kuftal. Occasionally the WHM was scared, but other than that - if the thieves can keep Utsusemi up, we dodge a shit ton of attacks.

BTW - if anyone is interested in lvl 60-62 thief burn, let me know. They are fun as hell.
