THF needs advice.

I'm currently leveling THF to 40 to kite the mammet in CoP 2-5. For that purpose, is a Drone Earring x2 (+6AGI) or a Dodge Earring x2 (+6 Evasion) better? The Drone earrings only gives 3 Evasion but I've heard that AGI also affects the chance of evading hits.

Also I'm still unclear whether AGI boosts SATA damage pre-Assassin or not. If it does, Drones earring might be a better choice.

From what I understand, every two points of AGI give you one point of evasion, so if you're purely looking to dodge, the +3 evasion should help more. I've also heard that AGI helps reduce critical hits and parries, but it doesn't sound like that's what you're looking for. And my THF is only 15, so I really have no idea how AGI affects SATA damage.

Perkypyro was right about the 2 AGI = 1 Evasion.

However, AGI enhances Trick Attack, while DEX enhances Sneak Attack. That is why you see THFs wearing heavy DEX and AGI gear. On a little side note, AGI also affects Ranged Attack Accuracy and *some evasion*

So, in summary:
Evasion = Good for.....evading.
AGI = Strengthens Trick Attack (Ranged attack accuracy and some evasion as well)

I think the bold part is correct or atleast thats what I have heard. Most paladins should know this since they use +agi equip to help parry. And I have heard that agi helps dodge critical hits.

To the main poster, evasion is what you would rather have in that situation since you are merely wanting to avoind getting hit and the added agi will not significantly help parry much or dodge critical hits. I also believe there is a better earring with +3agi but in my opinion the dodge earrings are your best choice and if you plan on level thief go with the +agi earrings.

Use dodge earrings themselves for the actual kiting/evading, and use drones for ranged attacks/SATA

As a PLD I know that the AGI boosts on the Eisen/Kampf gear as well as Drones definately speeded up my skill ups in Shield and Parry (probably evasion too but that leveled too fast anyway). I'm not much on advice for thief but I can say that if you notice, NIN's main stat is AGI, and they're meant to dodge, so put 2 and 2 together and get 5.
