Ok I've recently hit lv 75 with my Thief and I have a few questions about merits. What should I merit !st. I'm a Galka so things like Str and Hp aren't a necessity at the moment. I was thinking about capping Dagger> Triple Attack> Crits. Is that the best route to take. Feint looks like a good choice as does Assassin's Charge. I have 4 merits I can use at the moment so any help will be greatly appreciated:biggrin: If there is a link or thread already on this subject, I appologize for starting a new one.

Depends on what you do outside exping imo.
If you fight alot of hnms, sky etc you might want some dagger skill
to help you with acc.
If not you could go with Triple attack first, it's really awesome when
you get them extra 5%.

I'd say the same. Triple Attack or Dagger first....Followed by crits.

Upgrade the bread and butter first.

Triple, crit, dagger imo (in that order)... then whatever you want.

if yer a taru, merit hp. loltaruthf's

(srry necro. its the only thing i got on you >.>)

Cool thx, i basically put 1 merit in dagger and then started to cap out triple attack. I guess i'll cap out triple attack > dagger> crits. Might throw feint in there somewhere b4 I'm done. Thanks again guys

Crits > Triple Attack > Daggers > Feint > Aura Steal

And throw in Dex whenever you want. Stealing Zerk from something and break 800 attack is pretty intense.

Just my 2 cents, but aura steal and feint are *amazingly* useful. At first i thought... meh dispel every 5min, and evasion down every 10... cool i guess..

But when tested, hawtdamn. You can dispel like anything. Example: Double Dragonian KSNM, i dispelled the spikes that hurt you for 100+ dmg, thus saving the rdm from having to dispel.

And for Feint, stuff like dynamis it works *wonders* on NMs and such you have to get down quickly, aka Xarc NM demons. Or even in the cities' NMs and stuff like the birds in windy. Feint gives you like 100% acc for a few sec, then slowly diminishes. Just tell your buddies that you'll put Feint up in a set amount of time, and go to freakin town.

When first put in i thought it was a necessary thing to make thf more useful, not only did it do that, but i think its up there with Angon, imo. And used in unison? yay for pwnd NMs

Calling it a dispel is pretty misleading. Especially when you can jack extremely useful buffs for your meleeing.

i meant at the very least its a dispel... from my experience its almost a 100% chance to dispel it, with a *chance* to absorb, which is the meritable part of the ability.

With what you said tho, its definatly more than just dispel ^^
(and somewhat satisfying when jacking ice spikes from a skele and THEM getting the dumb paralyze >.>)

How would you like me to take care of him?

I can do a quick swift head shot or torture him till he wishes to die...

I mean uhh, want me to ban him or delete his silly posts? :p

Would you want to steal berserk from a mob though? Way I see it is you get the bonus attack which is great, but the mob using berserk also has defense down which every melee in the party can take advantage of if not stolen. So either you alone get an attack bonus or the whole party gets an attack bonus (It's really a defense loss of the mob, but it's all relative).

Gotta agree with lavi on that one but stealing the zerk right before monster death has got to be a nice bonus.

If you plan on doing alot of soloing. Evasion--Dagger--Tripple Attack--Then HP or STR next.

If you plan on being in party's alot then. Dagger--Tripple Attack--STR--HP--Evasion--Then w/e you want from there.

I WOULD NOT WORRY about any of those new merits Feint etc... Until you have at least, at very least Evasion, Dagger, Tripple Attack even then I'd still make those your very last things to merit with possibly the exception of doing those before critical hits. Don't make critical hits one of your first few merits that's stupid.

Any Thief that says Critical hits should be one of the first 5 things to be merited is a disgust to all Thiefs, and you make me want to go out back and throw up.

Triple Attack and Dagger, to me, are the most important for THF. I did Crits third and have yet to do evasion at all. Even with no evasion merits, I have yet to find a MOB that I couldn't tank to death or at least keep occupied in times that a party or alliance needed to recover.

Evasion is one of the last things I'd personally consider. THF already has the best evasion in the game, and we are escape artists. THF has access to tons of evasion and evasion skill equipment. I wouldn't exactly prioritize this above much of anything.

Are you stupid for doing it? Does it make me want to throw up? No.
Would I prioritize evasion above more useful skills? FUCK NO.

Triple Attack > Dagger like Sneaky said. Those two would provide the most boost to the job in that order. What I never understood was why people always have to have some specific order to merits like they actually will follow it. When I earned merits, I obtained them in odd numbers and it was never enough to get all of one category so I wasted them as they came that way in the next party, I could make use of them for the improvements the first chance I had. The way I saw it is instead of obtaining two merits and only being able to spend the first one and saving the remaining merit for a second upgrade, I toss it into something else. That way, the next party I have shows some improvement and it helps me get exp a little faster and/or easier. That doesn't mean I wouldn't follow an order, I would definately get a triple attack merit before I could get dagger merit, but if I have remaining merits unused, I wouldn't conserve them until I can use them unless I either have everything else I want or in order to get a specific merit, that's my only choice.
