Things change afterall.

I haven't been able to catch much this year ; ; I even missed last nights game. Seeing him is a little hard for me, it was a goal of mine to meet him while he was still playing, now I'll never get to do that (yeah I'm a rabid fan, so what :P ). I'm NOT missing tomorrows game though, not by a fucking longshot.

It should be a great game for sure.

Lemme tell you a true story from a few years back. My job is window maintenance which many of you know. So Steve Yzerman has been our customer for over 15 years, my boss(basically my second dad) and he used to work out together and golf for fun back in the day. Well anyway so me and the crew are out at his house as usual working on the house when all of a sudden the door opens.

It was a sunny morning and it was the second round of the playoffs for the wings at this time, they had a game the next night. Well this guy in a robe walks out to get the paper and all of a sudden says with a little laugh "Heya boys, where's Dale?". Dale is my boss so you know. So I reply with a laugh "Prolly playing golf as usual!". We always joked with customers that Dale doesn't work, only golf =P.

At this point my knees went weak...I noticed the rest of the crew staring and they dropped their Squeegee's. I froze because at that moment I realized it was Steve Yzerman that I was talking to. He looked at us smiling for a bit, god with that giant grin he always had. It seemed like we stood there for 10 years frozen. He all of a sudden says "Well you boys stay cool, its hot out here". And waved goodbye as he went back into the house. All of us choked a bit of a "Good luck tomorrow Mr. Yzerman!"

Funny thing is Dale told me the next day that Steve called him up and talked to him about it. Steve intentionally came out to say hi to us because he thought we looked like we needed some cheering up. Thats the kind of guy he is. I wont forget that day, its what made me decide on doing this hockey training, basically planted the seed.

Thought you might enjoy that Morwen, he really is as nice IRL as we think.

I had the chance to meet him once. My uncle gave me a call (worked for LC at the Fox) and said he would be making a public apperance at Children's Hospital, but I would have to act sick. I was so seriously tempted, but I couldn't do it. My dad was like 'Are you sure? Its Stevie!' I just looked him dead in the eye and said "I can't lie to my hero." So yeah, here I am, lol.

Yay for Michiganders getting together to talk about the Red Wings! And that was an awesome story, must have been a sweet game. Where abouts do you play? I only ask because my brothers used to play hockey and might be interested if it's located around Grand Rapids. Heck I would be interested if it were close. XD

Oh, and that story about Steve coming out to say hi, omg I think any hockey fan would have creamed their pants at that. Seems like Morwen did. ;D

wow very heart warming story congrats, I can tell that meant alot to you.
