Hmm, I only read the first post, but...
People used to make comments about me not having the Monster Signa. The conversation went like this:
Them: Blah blah you should have a signa shmaaaa gimp
Me: Okay, I'll leave, you can find another bard
Everyone Else in the party: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DON'T GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I love being a bard

.
Oh, and now at level 51 I'm supposed to use earth and light staves. I've got my light, and I have to think about buying earth, but it's out of my price range right now.
I rarely missed offensive spells, and even if I did, my strategy was to cast them at the beginning of battle, do buffs, and re-cast the offensive spells if they didn't stick.
Mary's horn isn't that expensive but it's a problem for a new player. I never bought one; I'm holding out for the much cheaper (and better) Nursemaid's Harp at level 60.
Ugh...when am I going to stop editing?
Anyway, don't use the logic "well bard doesn't have to buy expensive gear like everyone else so they should get the signa even if it doesn't help that much blah blah." Sparky said it best; "Bard is a skill class, not an equipment class."
