Howdy ya! This will be my first official rant on the boards, mainly because I never had anything to really rant about before, but now I do. OH GOD HOW I DO!!!! I am really sick and tired of people partying in the same place that everybody and their freaking mom does! Okay, now I must admit that once I hit level 34, I, like most people, took my ass on over to Crawler’s Nest to level there. Soon I discovered how much this place really sucked. It is constantly overcrowded, the lag here is terrible; and since its overcrowded, you have major competition for whatever it is your hunting. I had finally had enough, and I was convinced that there had to be a better place out there where I could level. So I asked around, and explored a bit and came to the conclusion that Altepa would be a good alternative. Now I had been to Altepa back when my job reached level 30, just so I could get my crystal, but I had never thought of partying there. My God! This place is SOOOOO much better than Crawler’s nest, with a decent party the experience here flows like honey. I was soo excited, I had to tell everybody that they no longer had to deal with the horror and constant angst of Crawler’s nest, that there was a better place just over the horizon, and that I would lead them there. However, very few people that I met were willing to try something different, they all wanted to go to Crawler’s Nest just because everyone else was there. I would beg and plead for them to come out to Altepa with me, I would constantly assure them that once they gave it a try they would love it, and that they would never want to go back and party in CN.............. I need to try harder. What really aggravates me is that when I tell people I want to party in Altepa, this is what I hear more than anything else : “ sorry I don’t have that crystal”. WTF!!!!! I’m sorry if this sounds a little harsh, but if your lvl 40 and still don’t have your crystal, GET OFF YOUR ASS AND GET IT!!!! Every time I invite someone who doesn’t have their crystal, I offer to take them out there so they can get it, but no, most people just want to follow the herd.. I won’t go back to CN anymore, that place is horrible and the exp sucks, and its difficult to chain with so much competition there. It just really makes me angry that people put up with that hellhole when there is no reason to, there is a better place out there. OOO, another thing that irks me. When people invite me to CN I say no, and I give them my reasons and offer an alternative, and their response is usually: “It will be okay, we’ll party in the Secret Room” Listen JACKASS, its not a secret when everybody and their freaking mom knows about it!!! Every time I go there, there about 10 parties fighting over a campsite there! People its time to move on! Think outside of the box!!! be different!!! And most importantly: STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THAT FREAKING NO GOOD CRAWLERS’ NEST!!!!!!!

Couldn't have said it better myself. I've been in a couple of Altepa parties, excellent EXP and no competiton since most people /whine "It's too far to go to Altepa. :roll: All you need is the gate crystal and a lvl 38 whm to tele you, what's the big deal?
 
Alternative XP places are always very good, but I have discovered that they were, and it's a paradox, "party killers" too.

I dont know why, but generally when ppl accept to go in this type of place they dont give the pty a chance if things goes wrong at the beginning.

In my opinion its because they have partied soooo many times in the same camps that they have forgotten that when your are partying in a "unknown" place (its generally the case for most of the pty) you have to take some time to "learn" the place.

My two cents : when you go in an alternative place to XP and took the time to do the travel, try to wait a little before yelling "WARP II plz" !
 
i liked the crawlers nest. when i was in there it seemed like we had enough creatures to keep a chain and we were far away from the nearest other party. you just have to look around some. maybe i just got lucky and was in a good party.

while we're complaining about areas. i'd rather spend 2 hours lfp then ten minutes in garbage citadel. for whatever reason i can't stand that place.

i did party in altep not to long ago. and i did like it. i dont think the exp "flowed like honey" but it was nice
 
I've actually never had a problem with crawlers nest before. I mean yeah its a little crowded but not as much as Garliage for that matter. Yes I would have to aggree with you Juando on Altep I love that place, and I've never had a problem with any of the parties I had there. Well except once when we thought we could try beetles in the west altep portion, boy were we wrong lol. I especially like Quicksands as another alternate lvling spo you might wanna check out that place when you can.

Yes people should start going to different hunting grounds. But they are quite afraid of new places to say the truth. Or another thing could be they are missing some key item such as Althepa/Yhoator crystals, air pass, kazam pass and such. Like for 34, appart from crawlers you can go off East Althepa spiders (or was it west...). We can also try to search the web for the mob level range and possible camping sight such as check yourself before you go and so on.
 
I must add that quicksand is good ... until you have to move on anticans ... I you plan to XP on them, you really should bring a NINJA, WAR/NIN tank ...
They really are a pain for a PLD tank (they spam AOE silence) ... died 5 times last time i have tried (the party was not very good, meleing mages + antican = deathtrap)
 
I have encountered a person who didn't even know where Altep was. What makes Altep a better leveling ground, is only experienced players tend to be willing to go there, thus you tend to have far better parties.
 
I LFG in Jeuno, if I get an invite to the nest, i'll take it! Why? Because I've been LFG for over an hour. The thing about these over-populated places is that you probably would get an invite where as in Altep your chances are pretty slim.

I know you'll say "Make your own group" which I do if the right elements are available (tank! >.<), but the minute you lose a member it's damn near impossible to get another one. I'd love to party in Altep if someone actually asks me to go
 
The Kuzotz region is an excelent alternative, I did worker crawlers once but otherwise I insisted on Altep parties. (Being a WHM with Teleport Altep went a LONG way to seeing to that) I was able to lvl from 34ish where I left Garlaig to 50 in diffrent spots in Altep. I think I went to crawlers nest more for Genkai and AF then I did for partying...Thank God....

and about leveling in different areas, I'm all for it. the only issue is geting other people to go. if you find a place that would work, you have to get a full party, then convince everyone to haul thier asses across the world. cause there usually won't be too many people in some of those areas, and most likely very few around your level.

alot of people won't go, anyways.

If everybody reads your post, then CN will be free, and I can gain lvls, because everyone will be in Altepa! :D

I bet, no matter how many people read your post, everyone still goes to CN. ;_; :(

D@mn it for trying to teach old dogs new tricks. Or, as you as it Juando, think outside of the box, people! ^_^ :D
 
Korroloka 13-8 or so kicked ass, Gustav around 40 kicked ass (serious ass). I am always down for alternative leveling spots. I tried Quicksand Caves other day and I bet it would be great w/ a better party. I also wanna try Yuhtunga Outpost instead of Yhoatar, then later the waterfall I heard those are good spots.

Bottom line: alternative spots rule.
 
I think you're thinking of Zehrun mines to Korroloka Tunnel to Western Altepa Desert. Best xp I've ever gotten was in the out of the way places. Leveling from 16-19 in Korroloka...flew by! Then recently got an invite to East. Altepa at level 29 with my BLM where we were hitting chain 4-5 consistently. In a matter of about 3 1/2 hours I hit level 33. I'd go back there in a second!
 
haha i remember partying with you for a short while yesterday Juando before i got cut short and had to go....
refer to sig to figure out where i had to go^^

ANYWAYS... you tele-altepa as i was leaving..... the bst got stuck in CN... i used my treatstaff to go homepoint.... and you took the other 2 with you to altepa....
But after i got a tell from one of our comrades that you ditched them there in altepa!!!
whats up with that???
anywho i was already free... so no biggy to me

Your right Drew, I need to be more patient, I was just very irritated because I had spent so much time there already, and hardly recieved any exp. *Note to self: Be more patient* :P :P :P :P
