First question as a hume with no int merits can you still be a good blm endgame? and if yes is the gear reasonable to obtain to do so.

I plan on soloning it to 75 for the most part at what lvl should you start subbing rdm, my blm is currently 39.

In general at 75 how many inventory/storage slots do you need for your blm gear? and is there ways to minimize your gear swaps without gimping your self too bad ex: not having a dark magic set?

and lastly a magic merit question, I plan on lvling brd at sometime dose putting merits into enfeebling skill and elemental skill show better returns then say wind and string?

Thanks for the info in advance

Sub nin for the most part, at level 50-58ish you can sub rdm, but at 58~59 go back to nin sub. You should be fine without any INT merits, BLM takes a lot of gear/gear sets. Don't gimp yourself by not making gear sets, if you plan on being gimp why bother even leveling the job?

Well, if he's soloing all the way to 75, what's the use in having any sets aside from Nuking and Enfeebling (for those nasty-wasty Sleep Resists)?

I'd wager that he'd probably build gearsets post-75 (especially once he sees how useful those sets are), unless he's just leveling Black Mage for the thrills and chills of spending hours alone in dank places.

I dont plan to gimp blm, but at the same time I know there is now way for me to get a pimp blm. With a 75 thf drg drk and whm I have some inventory to play with just not a ton. and as far as the gear question was just ruling out salvage gear (currently working on ares). I do plan on making gear sets was just trying to get idea of how many are really needed.

. . . You sounded so Taru there.

I solo'd a lot as a Mithran BLM so there's no reason you can't with a Hume. Hume's are pretty much equally balanced through all classes.

BLM had a tonne of gear to carry around though, (staves etc.) I level'd BRD after however.

Auronx is right about your sub, I went the solo route as well.

Definitely don't gimp yourself, you'll more than likely end up spending a lot more gil on reraise items...

HQ Staves are your first important choices.

Make sure you get Dark, Ice, and Thunder (Anrin, Hyorin, and Rairin) elemental obis. In that order. I can't stress that enough.

Full yigit set or if you can get more than 11 HMP in your Head/Body/Hands/Legs/Feet slots for resting MP. (For example Oracles > Yigit)

Make sure your resting set has more max MP than your nuking/enfeebling/dark/idle sets.

I'm not sure about Bard merits.

The only way I increase my inventory space on BLM is by leaving my Sorcerer's ring setup in my MH.

A few other pieces can be used a few times. Like Goliard Clogs. Or a better choice would be Avocat (HMP/Enf) and Yigit Crackows (Nuke/Stoneskin). Wizard's Petasos+1 (HMP/Nuke) instead of Demon Helm +1 and Mirror Tiara Oracle's Cap/Goliard Chapeau, obviously Igqira/Genie Tiara is a must. You'll have to make these choices yourself to best suit you.

Obis.

A dark set is incredibly important unless you want piss poor returns from Aspir and Drain. In certain low man situations, having enough skill to bump Bio II to 8 damage/tic is helpful too.

Obis.

Wow thanks Dowers I was planing on forgoing the whole obis thing because I thought there help was only marginal. Now I see my plan is not going work and I will have to go all out. Although I don't think I will use a sorc ring. The problem is going to be gearing Blm once I hit 75.

I have 100 bone craft so some of the +1 AH pieces will not be as rough to get, but what is going to suck is no relic, assault pieces or +1 AF. So yeah going to be hard but ill do what I can.

You need alot of slots as well. I usually push 65 with all my gear swaps... although I do have Dark, Enfeebling, Nuke, Elemental Swaps, Sorc Ring, etc.

Anyone can be a good end-game mage, you just won't top out on damage over Tarus.

Bullshit, I've seen some piss poor Taru BLM, you can't quantify people by race, sadly race has no impact on a persons skill/gear. Any race can do fine as BLM, it's just harder for some to get to the same standard as others, don't half ass it, put the time and money into leveling properly and you'll do fine. There's pretty good advice on this page, just follow that (ignore Lolronx 'cus... y'know <3 ) and you've got no excuse to fail :P.

Having INT merits doesn't separate you from being good or lousy at BLM. Skill and knowledge of BLM is far more important than anything. Damage isn't everything.

Sub RDM when you need Gravity ?_? me thinks

It depends on how serious you're going to go about the job. If BLM is for endgame only then you won't have to worry much about certain gear and sets. You're only 39. Over time (with leveling) you'll find out what's necessary...

Enfeebling Skill is only for solo'ing on BLM, nothing more. How serious are you about the job?

Goodluck~

I would assume Hmk meant an equally geared/knowledgable Taru BLM.
