Will be updating this thread again when update hits, hopefully I can sum up this new sync system in like 2 lines...

"A system which allows you to lower your level to match a friend so you can play with them without any limitations has been introduced. This system also works on your equipment, to save the hassle of obtaining equipment for more specific situations. Your gear's stats will take a cut, but you can earn merits/EXP on your desired job."

I will update the thread with the new info from the September 2008 patch. Just a bit busy at the moment to do so, I have some stuff written up already.
 
Hurry up, LadyKiki. I plan on basing my entire "return or not" decision based solely on your summary of the Level Sync system.

Wow. Wasn't quite sure where to post this but upon returning from taking a break I almost threw a fit when I was missing all my beastman seals. It took me a good five minutes to remember that they added NPC storage for them. :o

Glad this has helped. However it's contradictory, who traded them to the NPC before you came back?? :shok:
 
No I traded them to the NPC. I just forgot that 1, I did it, and 2, it was even an option to do so. I was about to make a thread and then I just happened to remember that before I submitted the thread.
 
Updated the post a bit, reflecting mostly on the major changes rather than the minor (useless) ones.

If you're reading this, one of the ever so useful things added is the /bell command. Equip a bell and use /bell. You will swing your arm like a bellend while playing some bell tunes... etc
 
I found myself disinterested as soon as I read that Byakko's Haidate is still desirable... holy shit SE get with the times.
 
Yeh you still get people shouting to buy it and such.

However I believe people with the full usukane set, but mainly NIN MNK SAM can use it as an "upgrade". WARs are still stuck with it, more or less.
 
It's a weird love-hate relationship I have with SE's outlook on things. While it's nice that gear isn't constantly invalidated by new content, thus giving you more time to just play the game, it does lead to the question of what you're playing for.

I mostly play to have fun and distract myself lately, but meh.

Mostly I'm waiting for FFXIV these days, I think lol.
 
Updated with some of the Christmas crap. May have missed certain things but should be enough/enticing for a returning player to read and find out more.
 
my pc has been acting up, and i was thinking of coming back via 360... only problem is i quit sometime after WotG. I forgot all my info... and am hoping i can retrieve my info.
 
Yeah Kiki this was a huge help for me, i still have some questions about the game now but this thread answered like 80% of them lol
