Thinking of quitting

This game is really fun...If I can get into a group. I'm a lvl 17 Hume WAR, which means The Valkurm desert is really the only place I know of that is good for exp. The problem is, 90% of the time, whenever I go there, I'm the only one in the 16-18 lvl range. I can't really do anything else because I'll either get the snot beaten out of me, or spend tons of time killing weak stuff in the highlands for crap XP. It's incredibly frustrating, especially because the game used to be so much fun. All my friends are on WoW and I'm thinking of switching to that (I'm on a free trial now.) If I could find something to spice up FFXI again, I totally wouldn't mind paying for both. Any suggestions?
 
Dont give up hope.....there are always ppl coming through lvl'ing up their subs and what not. In the meantime, you can craft....you can fish. Hell....you can even roleplay.

Sometimes things can just get a bit slumpish. Dont expect anything to happen quickly. If you dont feel like being more patient then perhaps a different MMO would be better for you. I dont know......I just know alot of ppl have their funky moments in the game. ^^

What's cst? I play around 10 on, I think my time zone is east (I live in VA, and don't pay attention to time zones)

That's pretty good advice, but the thing is, I haven't been able to get into a party for weeks. That's why it's so frustrating.
 
that would be 11 pm your time starting. i can average 4-5k an hour usually if i get 3-4 more melee the come with me. its not hard to do if i feel up to it. i wont be on tonight, taking my first break in 6 months o.O but if your interested pm me and let me know i'll hook ya up dude ^^
 
Have you tried to build ptys yourself? I know alot of ppl just try to seek and dont want to be the leader of a pty but sometimes you just have no choice. As a DRG I'm always having to form my own ptys....or else.....I would never get a pty XDDDD We'll see how much that changes after the update.

You can also go ahead and start lvl'ing up a job that your planning on sub'ing eventually. Like THF. Your gonna need to sub /THF if you want to have a much easier time farming. So go jump on that.....I see you already have it at lvl 5

More importantly, I think your problem with not getting any invites may lie in your sub. You need a lvl'd sub just because your competing for invites....and your compatition prolly has a sub. So someone will always choose him over you. The better an asset you are to an exp pty, the more invites you will get.

Even then.....someone will probably choose a WAR/MNK over a WAR/THF at your lvl. Just because a WAR/MNK is going to be able to tank better and probably do more dmg. I know I know....its BS that we have to conform to the cookie-cutter crap but its the only way your gonna get more invites and there is no way of getting around that......well, almost no way.

So.....there are a few things you can do to increase your chance of getting in ptys and getting that exp.
 
i've gone 2 days w/out a invite on my blm now ; ; i just want 75! i'm taking a break because of it o.O just seems like 73hrs a week isn't getting me anything but more money in this God forsaken game :/

You would have to level another job anyways once you got your WAR to 18 anyways, so you would have a subjob.
 
Yea dont give up your only lvl 17... its frustrating till around lvl 30...it justs takes some time for your first lvls.

had a party yesterday was looking for blm where was you then
 
bat if you are going to be dd all the way to 75 im afreid to tell you you going to have a long trip ahead. because there are alot of dd classes to pick from and you have to find a sc partner that would work to.

dd: war thf sam drg mnk smn drk rng
healers: smn whm
tank: nin pal
support: bard rdm
mb: blm rdm
there are alot of dd to pick from and there are times where you can go 2-3 days without invite.

if you get whm to 18 and get your sub job. you can then turn around and solo with war/whm when you cant find party, I think that what he ment
 
I am working on some of my melee sub jobs. I can PT with you on my NIN 15 will level it a bit tonight to catch up a bit. After the PT if you want I can help you with your sub job Quest and get any items you need yet.
