Thinking outside the box.

I will not claim that my knowlage of the Summoner job is perfect, so I just want to ask a question. Could an Alliance of nothing but summoners take on the Gods (or anything for that matter)?

And would it be effective if each summoner had out a different avatar?

Party 1:
SMN: Carbuncle
SMN: Fenrir
SMN: Diabolos
SMN: Ifrit
SMN: Shiva
SMN: Ramuh

Party 2:
SMN: Titan
SMN: Leviathan
SMN: Garuda
SMN: Carbuncle
SMN: Fenrir
SMN: Shiva

an alliance of smn could take out anything, but having a brd in each pt would do it faster.

and the avatar of choice would depend on the mob.

jorm? 16x leviathan :)

Most fun pt I had yesterday was blu blu blu blu nin brd
bludgeon pt in garlaige citadel as an experiment, was pulling in 5k/hr noring
then brd had to go and we got a cor who was great as well.

Reminds me when i had the second best pt of my life it was only 2hrs but Aldarion was the tank, Rampagesaga was the blm, sydney the bard, ixchel the thf, me the rdm/smn. The pld held hate (without food!)at all times Rampage was doing 900 with firaga III on crabs, me a measly 251>.>' with fire II.

It would have been the best if i didn't had to go >.< if your reading this Aldarion I want my face back....I'm the master rdm, Mr. pld. good times...

The best pt i had was in dunes actually where i went from 13-17 in 3hours with no pl and most of us didn't have a subjob

1-35 solo, any job, no PL. 6k/hr peak, 3k/hour at the worst. It beats partying with noob, joining a party that disbands before your half hour food wears, or partying with people that don't understand the concept of tank and healer.

A level 15 is not going to be doing much exploring, quests, missions, or helping people. Some, yes. A lot, no. A level 75 is slightly (understatement) more able to do so. Whether you have fun in the process of exping or not, it's kind of a necessary stepping zone in order to be able to do some of the more "generally considered fun" things.

If exp is fun, fantastic. However, what *makes* it fun for the majority of people (can't speak for the entirety but I can speak for the majority), is for it to go fast and effectively, plowing through enemies and storming through levels like it's nothing, so you can feel proud of your party's effectiveness and know that you're collectively doing well. Even that may not be fun if your party members are annoying (annoying people who play well perhaps, but annoying all the same).

Most people do not, surprisingly enough, find exp an enjoyable process if it's teeth-grindingly bad, getting 1k-2k per hour (or less) with a stupid party setup and/or fighting the wrong mobs. (Unless you're doing it with friends, in which case you're not so much having fun *exping* as you are having fun with your friends and laughing at your own incompetence.)

The fun difference between a good exp party and a bad exp party is *huge*. When 5 people want their proven effective exp setups and 1 person wants to "try something" ... consider that the innovative person's idea of "fun experimentation" may make the other 5 people want to tear their hair out in frustration. (On the other hand, they may come up with the next best thing since melee cannons. But this is *highly* unlikely.)

When partying, remember it's not just your own definition of fun that you have to account for. Which is why anyone who makes the "I'll play how I want, regardless of its impact on others, because it's my $13/month" argument is a fool unless they do everything in this game solo.

I wish we could do the solo thing with every job for any lv but with pts its faster.

Like in the other FF's, maybe I'm just too used to beastmaster meh...but having all of the drops and exp would make everyone say the same^^

Level 28-31 = 2 Nin, 1 Drk, 1 Sam (me), 1 Brd, and 1 Whm. Dude, we pwned everything in Yhoatar Jungle. White Lizards, Mandy's, we were chain 5'in, I was pulling as a Sam/Rng. Ninja's tanked and counted shadow's perfectly. Whm had nothing to do, so we has Magic Bursting or banish'in to work his divine (as a whm, I understand this). Brd was shifting between us. Honestly, we pwned. So take two very good nin's, two DD's, and a buffer and that's all you need.

Ok I lied, it's not 3k/hr in the valley, I'm gonna get no exp for about 45 minutes thanks to some assbag that came along and killed off my mobs, although it started out nice, empress wore in about 20-25 minutes.

4xSMN, 1xRDM, 1XBRD. I think that would pwn.

5 drg/whm + brd/ might make for a fun speed party.

5 smn + brd or maybe 4 smn + rdm or brd + cor

blu/nin X 3, brd,rdm,cor

bst/whm X 6

bst or pup X 5 + cor

There are some not so common things that look fun yet practical.

I was duoing with a nice JP BLM I met at the wamoura princes yesterday, which was a nice break from a normal party situation. Really laid back, we ended up getting about 4.5k an hour, hit a couple of chain 4s but mainly 2's and 3's.

Sad thing is sometimes, you can get better exp/hr soloing or duoing than with a regular party. People tend to whine to much.

WHM: I only have 75% MP! {Let's Rest for a While.}
PLD: Oops, ran out of food. Im running to Bastok. Brb.
NIN: Damnit, Voke when my shadows go down!
WAR: I didnt know that was your third shadow!
DRK: Life sucks......
Me: Wow......

I read alot of the posts.. and skimmed over the rest. What I see the difference is, the people that are pushing the 'normal' party set up, [whm, tank, dd, dd, blm, rdm/bard] are the ones going for maximum exp for the few hours the party. The people that are advicating (sp?) other party set ups are...well... looking at having fun and IF the exp is good... then thats all the better.

I've seen too many people leave parties after an hour because the exp isnt good enough. But, then... Ive been in parties where the exp isnt the best you can get i.e 240+ a mob, but the party is FUN. These parties are also more willing to go to a different area then the 'normal' exp party place... you know the place everyone else of your lvl is.

I like being in a party that .... get this.... actually TALKS in chat. There is nothing worse for me then a 3 hour party where the only party chat is skill chain macros. I vote for fun parties... as long as there is a whm I dont care (sure hope that whm is me!)

People try to be so efficient that the loose flexibility in making a pt.

I can say that many pts don't start because there isn't a refresher and they feel that they demand one. You don't "need" you want. A good pt can keep the chain up very well,if they give it a chance...

When I go afk and crap(yes guilty as charged unfortunately), its what happens i reduce the downtime greatly but its not like they can't fight without me for a few rounds.

Certain jobs give off prejudice and sterotypes twoards things,it just isn't right sometimes

Thinking outside of the box is great! But yah, it only takes one person to ruin that for everyone else. That one person has been me lately. I have been playing low level jobs lately and usually it is those levels that "anything goes".

Admittingly, I usually end up being the one to make everything cookie cutter within reason. The new jobs add in a new variety but the basics remain the same. Someone's got to heal. Someone's got to tank. I had to disband a party earlier due to the fact that the exp was horrid and I was bored to tears.

On the other hand-- some members agreed some did not. I never had an EXP band last so long-- nor had a very slow slow exp session last so long.

On the other hand-- as mentioned SMNer cannons. Wow. Good times.

You go from being the last person picked to join a party to making awesome/fun exp when you decide to just step away from the Cure III spaming. The most awesome parties I've ever been in have been SMN cannons. Not sure what it is about Summoners on our server but they're awesome people who are pretty cool to play with. And yes, together we can take on just about everything in this game-- seperate however we're demoted to the weakest link and a "Waste of a slot".

Soloing/Duoing on SMNer is also great fun. Speaking of which.. anyone wanna cannon on SMN? Grin.

Had a weird party in thickets the other day. I got an invite by a bard while on my whm *joy* and warp back to town get invited. There is a BRD, NIN, WAR, MNK, ...awesome right? And a RDM. I kept thinking (..why did they invite me?) Half of the party was japanese.. the english player I knew so I asked and he said he wanted a whm. I was fearing we wouldn't be able to hold our weight there but honestly the only thing that broke chains were Lurkers and the EXP was overall pretty nice and I barely ever had to do anything at all. The RDM prety much helped with sleeping mobs. Could it have been better? Yah.. but was it still good? Yah.

Oh, and also before I started to solo/cannon exp on my SMN I'd often have very unusual parties-- and RDMs seem to be in short supply. Switch out the RDM with a whm and the party went pretty smoothly. SMN being an out of the box type of job allowed for more unique party set-ups. Did a few cannons in sky without RDM or BRD back in the day. Hastex5, rest, rest rince repeat tossing out the occassional cure. Good melee tho and LS mates.
