I read on the WHM forum on Alla, that the earlier you do it the better, because Maat will not be able to do Asuran fists. Apparently his level is closely based off yours at any given moment. So I guess the ealier the better.

i was lvl 69 red mage~~ and the 2nd time i fought him he pulled 2 asuran fist on me lol
