Ok in the last 2-3 weeks I have noticed this Casino thing popping up. What the Hell? Who startd this and who on earth is dumb enough to participate. Some dude was doing a /shout about it, I go cmon man thats just plain dumb, no one will fall for it. Sure enough people started lining up...
 
I started one in Hades with my Hades Narell, just for kicks really. I've won 25k total off these guys. It's really not that bad of an idea if done right. It's just a change of pace.
 
Why do people go to real casinos? They don't understand how odds work. They don't know that they are destined to lose money.

Well aren't you "destined" to lose money if you go to a movie? or buy a stereo? or play FFXI? Casinos are a form of entertainment.
 
At some point you may be in a position when gil really doesn't matter anymore and you may as well gamble some.

Usually the odds are in favor of the bank, but if you have "unlimited" gil supply it sure is fun to bet at the max limit and see the bank lose a couple three times.

I don't find /shouts about someone's casino every 30-60 seconds to be much fun... I wish if people had to run casinos that they could do it somewhere useless, like Windurst Walls. No one ever goes there.
 
The spamming is the part I find most troublesome, I have enough issues walking throuhg lower Jeuno thanks.

Yea... The LS got realy excited about it and was talking how it si so much fun, I am like fine w/e makes you guys happy.

I still think it is dumb but if people want to do ir for fun let em.

so damn annoying to hear that macro spammed 5sec by 3 people

and they use /sh for all their talking ><

I don't have a problem, but please use /say in a far and distant corner :cry:

However, anyone who was in Lower Jeuno tonight cannot possibly forget the insane amount of casino spamming that was going on. Two people were spamming their casinos at the same time, both every 30 seconds or so (same setup even!). It was made even worse when the casino runners would actually shout spam every single time someone bet, letting us know both the bet and the outcome.

You can filter shout spam (which of course means you'll miss important shouts like teleport offers, mission or quest invitations, etc) but you CANNOT filter /random. And it's always a side effect of these casinos that people will stand around them and spam /random (unless you want a huge blist). No, /random doesn't carry through the entire zone, but the damn casinos were RIGHT AT THE AUCTION HOUSE! Inexcusable! Lower Jeuno is the center of the FF universe. This crap is killing it.

I've only made money off these guys, only done it 3 times though. I don't think it's dumb I actually think this is a smart idea if done right. I believe that it'll be banned once it's exploited too far though, like it was in EQ, if I heard a friend of mine correctly. :shock:

Yeah, i really hate those shouts, people come to the game to relax and enjoy FFXI NOT to bring a RL casino into the game. If you wanna do that, pick up the phone, call SE and tell them i wanna insert a new patch into the game, a casino, and i will pay for all whatever shit THEN it's legal INSIDE FFXI. IF whoever started the goddam casion doesn't want to do that, then i urge THAT person to shut the hell up and stop the shouts.

ANOTHER shout i don't like is the election for precidency in the US, please whoever started it, please STOP the election spam, FFXI is a game, not a place to being RL problems into.

That is a good idea BUT we all want to hear some good shouts, like teleports, if i turned /shouts off, i wouldn't know who to /tell to if i need a teleport.
 
thats understandable but like the other people that don't play taxi they should just turn them off. Also all you would have to do is /blist the ones running the casinos and then take them off later when your out of jueno or where ever.
 
Yeah I just blacklist the casino people like CodyF or whatever his name is in Bastok. I remove them once I leave town.
