im think it cerrtain dell towers that dont work I tryed downloading windower about 4 months ago and i keep freezeing when it went to the fullscreen ffxi cg movie screen. Turn out that others was having same problem and the arch bell ts guy said that had to do with something with dell computers

Yep there's a conflict with the embedded graphic card. F*ck Dell, I can't play at work >_<
 
I have a very simple answer to all the people who think that the use of the windower is ok by the ToS. Call a GM and tell them that you are using a 3rd party program in the background of the game. Take screen shots of the entire conversation and post the pics here. Then we will see if windower is considered a cheat by SE.

Once again, shut the fuck up about the goddamn windower. It is not a cheat nor does SE consider it such, it is however against the ToS. The windower is a pandora's box application, nothing more nothing less. To be too much of a geek about it the windower can only show you the door, it's up to you if you want to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

You people need dictionaries.

To violate rules deliberately, as in a game: was accused of cheating at cards. <--- this only counts in an MMO if A.) it can be proven (which it can't with windower) and B.) You are given a competetive edge that results in your gains.

End of Story, stay on topic for christ's sake.

Isn't your avatar a screenshot with the chat log showing? If so, how did you take it without using third party software?

I thought we'd established the difference between cheats that affect gamplay, versus applications that have no effect on how the game plays...
 
This isn't a thread about windowers or fraps. It's a thread about flee-hacks. Noone cares about windowers or fraps. Seriously, take all the pictures you want w/o copyright text; I could care less. And if you're minimized with a windower, that means you aren't playing and thus aren't bothering me, so go right ahead. Noone cares.

What people do care about is game-shark like hacking that lets you zip around at mach two and become nigh invulnerable from things that are supposed to be dangerous, as well as making honestly levelled thieves partly obsolete. If people want to flee, there are powder boots, hermes quenchers and levelling thief to 25. Every thief in the game should be mad at people hacking to get the skills they had to work for. I know I'd be mad if I saw alliances of melees manaburning with firaga III, w/o having to level blm. I don't even know how people can justify using it. The only reason to need such a device is to compensate for lack of skill.

I never admitted to being an angel. Hell I played on PS2 for a long ass time..then I finally got a PC that could run FFXI again so now I'm at home with my detailed graphics and extended clip plane. Personally I consider it a cheat because if you know what your doing then you can use the "~" key and do all kinds of stuff with it. Distance plugin, TP/MP readings of party/alliance members, clip plane extenders...these are just some of the things that windower gives you that you can't do on PS2.

Now, windower is against the ToS(rules of the game), also the best part of cheating is not getting caught. Plus I explained above how it gives an edge over other players. So therefore it is a cheat and your explination is disillusioned. Just keep telling yourselves that it isn't a cheat though if it helps you sleep better at night.

It doesn't just give you all those plug-ins. You have to download each and every one. The only thing it does that running it in FS mode doesn't do is show TP of the other players.

You have to download those other plugins and put them in place yourself. I personally got tired of seeing all those little numbers in my screenshots so I took the TP plug in out. So now, all my windower does is allow me to use my computer and Play ff at the same time. Which I should be able to do anyway. People that play PS2 can play FFXI and use there comp at the same time, why can't I? I say it's an unfair advantage for PS2 players, and I chose to fix the advantage with windower.

Extending the clipping plane gives NO benefit. It just makes the game look slightly better while lowering your frame rate.

Seeing the party's TP isn't really that meaningful at all. Pre TParty every melee would declare their TP at 100% anyway. TParty is a convenience that reduces battle spam slightly... and I still use my TP report for emphasis. =p Not only that but even before TParty I could sometimes judge when my melee partner was at 100% just from paying close attention.

Most people don't use Windower for anything beyond that.
 
You all do know that the only reason I mentioned windower in the OP is to keep people from playing a cheapshot and pointing out the easy hypocrisy of catching a fleetooler with a windower screenshot...

...guess I walked right into those 50 posts. Oh well. A few people think windower and fleetooling is in the same category. Most don't. If you do, I'm assuming that you use neither, so I admire that.

Understand that by windower I mean the programming that allows for framed play, and that is it. No plugins. No extras. Just minimize and resize. Unfortunately I can define what I meant since I said it, and in all honesty that's what I meant and what I'll always mean. As such, windower is simply against the terms of use of the product. It has no impact on the game, much like importing or pirating or selling T-shirts with the XI logo on the front without their permission.

Fixed it for you.

Windower makes it easy for you to put a flee tool in your game and just because you don't utilize every aspect of the windower it still gives you an unfair advantage to those on a PS2, which by the definition that Mokk gave, is cheating. Cheers!

PC is a multi tasking machine PS2 is not, to force your PC to use 10% of what it can do is just silly. Im not gonna log for 1 min just to check my E-Mail or if I wanna listen to music I am going to and like everyone else has said... You don't need windower to run a flee tool.

Go cry a river else where windower is not a cheat don't hate cause you can't afford a top end PC and have to play on lolPS2.
