My god, I've been camping this skank Stray Mary for over a month now. She's really, really, really starting to cheese me off!

I'm now 0/11 with her and think I have the worst luck ever. Not only that, I'm nearly getting myself killed trying to eliminate all the sheep within a certain area in an effort to get mary to spawn, only to have some incredibly high level chraracter in a Vermillion cloak of all things stroll on by and snatch her away. I mean...you're wearing a 2 million gil peice of armor! Plus they're not running around killing sheep in order to get her to pop. They just stand there letting me do all the work, and while I'm bustin my tush killing sheep they just wait and grab her.

Not everyone that I've hunted mary with has been a dink like this, I was chatting with someone who was also trying to get the horn for a friend. (I'm hunting her for Porum). We chit chatted back and forth and agreed that she'd take the southern 4 squares and I'd take the Northern, each having a random chance to get the spawn.

NM drops shouldn't be sellable. It's so stupid to have players who actually want to use the item busting their asses trying to find/defeat these NMs competing with allready rich high levels.
Anyway...I'm just venting.....Getting frustrated :evil:
 
Next time you get one of those dinks camping with you, just stand or sit beside him and dont bother killing the sheep, if he REALLY wants it that bad maybe he'll just go kill them ^^.

and if not then you must play the waiting game of doom, to see who can hold out longer, lol, ah well just trying to lighten you up a bit. Good luck when you go out camping that skank sheep lol next time.
 
That doesn't work to well because she spawns over an 8 square radius....8 VERY large squares. 2 people can't cover 8 squares worth of map hence me trying to force pop her in the 4 I patrol. I just have terrible luck :cry:

I haven't hunted Mary anywhere near as much as you Sabia, and you're making me really dread the prospect. Been out there 3 times so far, just sort of casually when I had nothing better to do, and never even saw her spawn. Now, of course, I have to start getting more serious about it too, since my Bard is level 36 now, and just 2 or 3 more static sessions will get that job to BCNM levels.

And yeah, I can't STAND the thought of forking over 170K to someone who's already got gil out the wazoo. Mary's horn is so far the single most expensive piece I've had to acquire (I'm not even bothering with the Signa, that's just unattainable at my current level of play). My current "lifestyle" in the game requires very little farming to pay for my expenses, I've been able to get good gear through a combination of gardening and crafting, 2 things I enjoy. I do NOT want to have to farm for 2-3 weeks for this damn thing. But I hate camping her too. *sighs*

At least, when the time comes for BCNM, I can probably pressure my static into helping for a night, maybe 2 if needed. Getting 5-6 people out there, half with widescan and half with TH, should hopefully help. ;) I'll try to let you know when we're doing this, so we're not competing again, lol.
 
ive camped mary a few times..theon time i got every drop that she had to offer. ive camped her a couple times after that but i just dont have the patience to run all over the hills of the highlands to get it to spawn
 
NM hunting...yes.../vomit.

I think Leaping Lizzy and Stray Mary should have a tea party togeter so I can ambush them and destroy them once and for all. Seems that may be the only way I can kill them, considering mister 75 THF seems to have a hankering for any NM I camp...

We've had as many as 4 people hunting for her...my god I never want to look at another sheep again. I totally understand that everyone has a right to camp and make money any way they want. That doesn't mean seeing some high lvl Flee after Stray Mary after we've been killing sheep for 1-2h isn't the most frustrating thing in the world. I normally sub rng on my bard so that I at least know if she's spawned, but without flee it makes it hard to get to her before others. Oh well...

Btw, without Sabia I don't know what i'd do! She's been out there bustin her ass for an item she can't even use...now that's a friend. Now I could just farm the money to buy the horn, but we've put sooo much time (Sabia more so) into getting the item...it would make the whole process pointless to do so. /sigh
 
Mary's Horn is just one of those things you should just suck up and buy...if your doing it for BCNMs you should make the money back quickly anyway...

i hated hunting for that damn horn...

Invite me along next time, if I was patient enough to kill Huu Mujuu the Torrent, I can wait at least an hour for the skankho of a Sheep that Stray Mary is. (Plus I wanna help you get the horn for My Porum ^^)
 
Uuuuh, I can kill Sheep, invite me too, all of QCDN could go and kill Sheep, so that you can finally get your Horn, Party i say, we could get tons of Horns :D
 
Hehe Having a ton of qcdn people on board would make an onerous chore into a crazy fun time^^ At this point i couldn't reward you, but if anyone wanted to join us and just rack up some sheep skins (bring wind crystals to make wool!) then I wouldn't be in your debt. /tell me anytime in game...i don't bite :wink:

low lvl leather so you could do it right away....though you will lose some

1xWind Crystal + 2xSheep Skin = 1xSheep Wool --> 12 Wool = 6.5~8k gil
 
Ghostinmyshell: Oh how i've contemplated buying the damn horn and call it quits, but like I said, sabia has put in too much work to do that. It's kind of turned into a mission of sorts...I guess it will make it all the more valuble to me when I do get it^^
