Tomorrow = Iowa.

All the media is talking about on the Republican side is how either Huckabee or Romney are going to win. They usually only poll by land line phones, they don't always list all of the candidates, and a large portion of the voters are new voter. The only honest answer to "who is going to win?" is that we don't know. I personally expect both Paul and McCain to do so much better than the polls show. I expect Kucinich to do much better than the polls show. However, we won't know until it happens.

So, let's kick back and see what happens tomorrow. =)

Do you even know how a caucus works? It is the most retarded thing in the world. I dont understand why any undecided and not highly dedicated voter would ever go, and with that being the case whats the point of having a caucus...

Neways i hope to see some confused looks

I agree with this statement. I'm an Iowan and will not be attending caucus tonight. It's not because I'm highly educated, it's because i think it's bullshit to be somewhere for 5 hours and have to vote 3 times. Also I don't really feel like having some asshole try and talk me into his/her candidate for the whole time.

I'd be much more interested in attending if it were a primary!

Well, I won't have to go through all of the nonsense. My state just has a standard primary. I can't wait until Feb. 5th.

I think there is a website that updates for the Iowa caucus when votes get tallied etc. That's what I have heard though I don't know if it is true though.

Obama and Huckabee for Iowa. I'm curious to see how the other states vote, hopefully they'll follow the Iowa Democratic party's lead.

Illinois will be Obama more than likely. I hope Clinton drops out. I also loved how the republican votes totally eclipsed the democratic. Paul got 10,540 which wasn't bad I don't see how dull ass Fred Thompson got so many.

Because he's recognizable, articulate, and a straight-talker.

Remember in what age bracket the majority of voters are found - the Law and Order crowd alone rivals the size of Ron Paul's grassroots movement. Internet popularity doesn't mean squat if your base of support isn't the type of individual who will actually go to the voting booth. Older people, on the other hand, would like nothing better than to go somewhere for 5 hours and listen to political arguments.

I don't really care at this point, since my vote in the general election is wasted (Washington is a winner-take-all state, and sadly it is almost always blue). I'd much rather see the powers that be do something to eliminate the electoral college than change the primary system. I think it's BS that my vote isn't counted just because 49% of people in my state think differently.

Personally, I want to see Romney win, but I'll be happy so long as it's Anyone But Hillary. The military wouldn't survive another Clinton presidency... we're still recovering from the first one.

Damnit, man. It looks like I'll have to look towards NH for good results. I was hoping Paul would get 4th. I'm happy that Obama got the Democratic side. I can't stand Clinton or Edwards.

Edit:

I noticed that Paul has won more straw polls than any other republican candidate and he didn't win in Iowa. I didn't know Iowa was so full of evangelical Christians. Anyways, did Bill Clinton or Bush do well in Iowa previously?

Sorry had to look up how people did in the past on wikipedia. According to their article in 1992 Tom Harkin won 76%(go figure, iowans caucusing for their own) and Bill Clinton only saw 3% of the caucus vote. In 2000 on the republican side George W. won with 41% of the vote. Here's a link to the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_caucus .

Huckabee's win amuses me. After watching the GOP spend so many years courting the Bible-beaters, it's hilarious to see them doing their best to put one in office. I hope he rides Jesus like a surfboard straight into the party's nomination so the Beltway conservatives can implode over the monster they've created. "Oh fuck... what have we done?"

I share the same opinion as you on the electoral college. It's absolute crap they wonder why people don't both to vote.

Actually most, if not all, Democrats want war with Iran. All republicans but Dr. Paul is for Iraq war.

Never been to Iowa have you? There isn't much there.

Which Democrats are clamoring for war with Iran? I haven't been hearing that. Most of the Iran-centric comments I've heard are "We're not falling for that shit again, Bush."

Ask them if Iran has nuclear weapons what would you do and find out.

Meh. Asking how they'd handle that hyphothetical isn't the same as "I want war with Iran."

While I am leaning towards Romney myself, I cant go with an "Anyone but Hillary" stance. I am more of an "Anybody but the current field of democratic candidates".

I wholeheartedly agree that the military would not survive another Clinton presidency though.

I'm happy Obama pulled Iowa. A lot of people here seem critical of him, but aside from Ron Paul - he is the most straight talking candidate available. He doesn't tell people what they can or can't do in the privacy of their homes. He is rather progressive. His foreign policy won't be lookin down a loaded silo either...

Also - he is young. People cry innexperience - I say bah. Some of our best presidents have been innexperienced (perhaps a sign of the times speaks otherwise.) Irregardless, he really can't do much worse.

I would agree, and the nation is dumb enough to do it. That said, Edwards is too impotent of a candidate to win, I'm not worried.

Obama may win, but I honestly don't think he would live to take office. Nothing against him personally, but there are too many crazy racists with guns in this country who would much rather take a Secret Service bullet than see a black man become President. Whomever his running mate will be would ascend to the office.

Hillary on the other hand, scares the shit out of me. If I didn't have military service time left, I would honestly consider emmigrating out of the country if she won. Maybe the Royal Australian Air Force would take me...

Just remember that Huckabee had a lot of support in Iowa because the state is filled with born-again Christian ultra-conservatives just like him. If this guy gets elected I'm moving to Canada. I am glad that Obama won for the Democrats though, because I'm torn between him and Ron Paul. I wouldn't be discouraged if he doesn't win Iowa though, because next up is New Hampshire, which is MY turf. He's seen a lot of support here because we are, for lack of a better term, more diverse. We actually use the internet which is Ron Paul's forte.

So don't give up hope, this is far from over.
