As someone who plays both, I don't understand why the pureblood FFXI'ers feel so gd threatened by WoW... Jesus its a game, this is a game, I guess if I play chess instead of Checkers I'd get my head bit off too...

I have nothing against WoW. It isn't a bad game. I just don't see why people need to come here and say stupid crap like "WoW roxxorz, FFXI suxxorz" and the like, intellegently put or otherwise. My roomates play WoW as I've already stated. I don't go and complain to them about things that may look kinda dumb to me, or things about the game that I don't like because they obviously are enjoying the game and there's just no need for me to disrespect thier fun. Same thing would apply to a forum of WoW users. That would just be asking to piss people off.
At this point im going to stop, trying to type this from work was not the best idea. It's taken me about 2 or more hours just to get this typed because i've been so busy. Not the best day either, so im not sure if i've been able to express what I mean the best I can in this post, or atleast the latter half of it anyway. I know I started out just fine.
Yes, FFXI is threatened by WoW, no doubt about that. FFXI is an old game, people are always eager to try new things.
With that said, please bring these WoW talks to the Off-Topic forum. Yes, we feel threatened, happy? We're scared chickens.

FFXI COMMUNITY is a group of people united by FFXI. When they stop playing they still have love for the community and will always post as long as they do. Wether they play WoW or Rag or EQ they care about people here and want to share other game experiances with their community and friends before people they know nothing about. there is nothing wrong with this you just need to realize that lil' FFXI pride you have will get you no where IT'S JUST A GAME GROW UP.
As many players that do play WoW here though and were brought together by FFXI and post avidly here maybe they should make a place for it. Just one little folder so you people will stop your useless crying then again you'd prolly just come down there and end up messing it up with the "OMFG FFXI PWNS!!11!! JOO" nonsense.
This has grown more to be a community than a labeled FFXI community. You people just need to chill out on the defensivness and realize we can't all enjoy FFXI forever. However, we still like to chat with the players here and share thoughts and opinions with them on other things . Too each his own is the key so why all the fighting? FFXI is a great game but fighting over which is better or takes more skill is just retarded. when it all comes down to it they are JUST GAMES. People play games they enjoy and when one stops being enjoyable they move on. There should be nothing to argue at all. What Joe likes to play is not always what Jim likes to play but that doesn't mean they have to brawl about it. Why can't we all just get along on the matter. It's really not that hard at all.

Thats because unless youre silly enough to have gone into a contested area way too difficult for yourself at level 6, or attacked an enemy player first, they wont have been able to attack and gank you.

The difference between this board and other boards is because people here like FFXI and want to improve and there is real discussion. Read the posts on allakapoop or the wow general forums where there isnt conversation but gamefaqs quality posting.
There is no FFXI sux, wow rools or vice versa on this board.
WoW is an incredible challenge to SE right now because most players who play FFXI and then play WoW, don't want to come back to FFXI. It also has a reputation of being a crappy MMORPG. Like most people on the internet I have an opinion on what they could add to make FFXI less dry and a little more juicy. A few tweaks, a few dungeons, and a few difficult decisions and people might flock back to FFXI again, although all the bullshit with the recent return to vandial campaign may have killed off any chance of older players coming back in droves.
WoW's endgame is absolute shit right now. I love Onyxia but I don't get how players enjoy Ragefire Chasm 2...err Molten Core.
I know they just added battlegrounds which was a real kick in the ass to all the bored 60s I knew but I already quit the game a few months ago and sold my account. The funny thing is while losing your character in FFXI makes you want to commit suicide, it takes 2 weeks to reach max level in WoW once you know what you are doing.
Although I can get that same content in other games for free like Battlefield 2

I've said it before and I'll say it again: GTFO. The "FFXI Community" you love so much doesn't want you back. It's compareable to walking into Yankee stadium yelling about how big of losers they are for still liking the over priced babies, and how the Red Sox are the bestest team ever. If you don't like FFXI, shut up about it. I have yet to see a bad flame AGAINST WoW, and all I have seen is what I've been saying for weeks, if you don't like FFXI, leave, go away, leave it to the people who still enjoy it. Have some god damn respect for the community you supposedly love so much.
When there are over 10 posts in the past 50 about WoW on a FFXI board, thats just messed up. Yes we choose to click these posts, because in general, they hafta do with someone whe know and like quitting for WoW or some other bs like that and we like to say goodbye. BUT the forum rules are being completely disregarded by both sides and turning this from an Off Topic post into a Flameboard post. And none of the mods are around to do shit about it. Pupusa is never around to monitor this stuff and the only people I've seen ACTUALLY move something are Sabia and Jender.Strid said:
