Wow, after reading all that(well some of it), this sounds like something that should be put into the flameboards. This is entertaining, just like going to Bnet and going to a channel called sex or sex 2 and hearing all the same whining thats going on here cept its live. Keep it up everyone, my popcorn is almost finished :) .

You do realize you're bashing FFXI players (the ones whining where them) with a Blizz reference right ?

Hey it finaly got moved^^

anywho, after 4 days of playing (started last thursday night) I love it!!!!!!
I'm upto 24 and i'm in a contested area (taurn mills (sp?) ) I got repeditly ganked by a group of atleast 8 45+ players and I couldnt stop laughing I was having so much fun!!! finaly a group of horde came out from our base at the mills and we had a good ole fight in the foothills, I gained 8 honorable kills (not sure what these do yet)

After that was finished, My in game buddy ( acchiles 24 ud rouge ) showed me this bg thingy and it was great! It was like sheep to the sluaghter, I was dropping peeps left and right!

All I have to say is that this game is friggen sweet!!!!!!!!! and for the some complaints about the graphics, I jacked mine all the way up (getting about average of 35 fps) and it looks wonderful, brillant colors and smooth smooth textures

Thanks all who supported me through this adventure. any you WoW vets out thier, can you tell me how to get the rankings by your name? like <scout monnanite> I want 1 >.<

OMGWTFBBQ! I created a character on Stonemaul awhile ago and only have it up to 18! I quit WoW before BG came out, and now that I'm starting over I'll have to discover it like you did.

Cheers!

LoL dont know If I realy discoverd anything, I'm still kinda lost atm with the whole BG and PvP ranking system. I'm just using the basics rules, I'f its chasing and or hitting me, Try my Hardest to hit it back harder >.<

The ranking next to your name is your PVP Honor Rank, but you knew this. How you get it is like this. After the week your honorable kills are tallied and when they do the Honor Rankings for the week if you gained enough honorable kills you'll go up a rank or if you decrease in kills you rank down (which takes A LOT of time). Heres a wbsite for more info...Well I was going to link it but my network connection at work is running a little slow atm =/ Just go towww.worldofwarcraft.com and click the Honor System tab on the right hand column. It's a good off site and explains it all. Also, I'd stay away from the Mills until later. Try finishing some of the Redridge area higher quest and then proceed to the ever wonderful (no sarcasm this place owns) Duskwood. It's right across from the noob forest in stormwind. Just cross the river and find the town on the east side of the map.

Ok well all the servers are down, so I did a little bit of snooping at the WoW website. I know Strid said this already but I'm bored.....

Rank:

You obtain rank by gaining "Honor points"
How do you obtain these honor points? By killing people from the other faction.

The level of the people you kill determines how many points you get. For example, killing someone your lvl or around your lvl will give you X points.

The last method is the normal or optimal way of obtaining points. You can also gain much honor by killing the racial leader NPCs. These are basically some of the leaders in the story of Warcraft: ex. Thrall, Sylvannas Windrunner, Magni Bronzebeard, etc. Of course, this is a harder way to get honor because you will need a raid group to kill these <Incredibly tough> NPCs, which results in higher honor.

You do not get any honor by killing people far under your lvl. One thing to point out is the color of their name. Like in crafting, green has a slight chance to lvl up, yellow has moderate chance, orange has high chance, and gray has no chance. In a similar fashion, players whose names are in gray will yield no honor.

You will gain less honor by repeatedly killing the same person during the coarse of the day. I'm not sure what the time limit is, but if you kill the same person within the hour, you will get 75% less honor, then 50%, 25%, etc. One final thing to point out is the lvl range. A lvl 60 who kills a lvl 60 will gain more honor than a lvl 40 who kills a lvl 40.

How can you lose honor? Dishonerable kills. This includes NPCs that are way below your lvl. The website did not indicate PLAYERS, just NPCs, especially those who give quests, etc.

I read a little something about BG. Basically, BG is a new style of PvP for Warcraft synonymous with Unreal Tournament 2004 or Battlefield 1942. UT2004!? BF1942!?!?!??! What on earth are you talking about? That's right, this is a new kind of PvP for WoW. The Alterac Valley BG (something you don't need to worry about yet since the lvl restriction is 50 or 51, so that's too high for us right now). Alterac Valley is basically destroy the opponents' towers by any means necessary. So it is a battle of tactics going back and forth as both sides attempt to destroy or capture key points on the map (like BF1942).

However, at lvl 21 (I believe) you can participate in Warsong. (of course, this is broken down into lvl categories so that 21-30, 31-40, 41-50 lvls play with eachother, and you don't have a slaughter of lvl 20's by lvl 40's. The objective is to capture the enemy's flag by any means necessary. (UT2004 was the only good example I could think of).

So really, the objective in BG is not to just kill your opponents, but take control of strategic locations or objects that are crucial to victory. I can imagine that there are good material or honor rewards included in these fights. I heard they are really fun, and really competitive.

Cheers!

(Forgive all the spelling and grammar errors, I wrote this kind of fast)
(I'm pretty sure this info is right, I skimmed over the WoW website. Tell me if I have any errors and I'll change it :D  )

Sweet! thanks for the great info! yea I tried stealing flag a few times, I blinked my way across the map and worked very well but rouges are able to eventualy catch up and well in the mage vs rouge situation 90% of the time the mage drops like a rock >.<

as for Redridge I have no idea where that is >.< maybe its an alliance thing? dunno. the mills quest are fairly simple and are yielding around 2k xp for completion and I've done a few things in Ashenvale

I thought you were Alliance my bad.

I just bought WoW and I'm really looking forward to having something to do during that 30 min to an hour between the time I get out of sports and when I start homework. I'm still going to play FFXI on weekends when I have more time, though.

Yeah I'm aware strid. I was targeting those complaining, not a particular side. I like both blizz and FFXI. No big deal to me that ppl talk about WoW on a FFXI forum, this is an off-topic post. And im sure its vice versa on the WoW forums. Just that the Bnet referance had a good example.
