I really really hate them. My store got robbed by two of them today. Pushed me over and nabbed some things from over the counter and ran off. I chased one of them down and took him down as he tried to climb a fence. The one that stole my store's Wii got away though. It's only a matter of time until he's caught too though.

Hopefully i won't be fired from the company for doing that, but if i am, i can leave knowing i saved my store from being closed several different times.

I lost a lot of my faith in humanity today.

Thats fucking weak man. If you get fired thatd be some bull shit. If you do I'll put a word in for you at best buy, come pimp it out there with me.

That reminds me, on a completely unrelated subject you guys getting wii's in anytime soon? I'm thinking of picking one up.
 
Yeah, it's a shitty situation being the store clerk. Not only are you getting robbed, but even if you do find yourself in a situation in which you can overtake the thief, if you do, you will most likely be sued by said thief. It's a lose-lose situation really. I wouldn't worry about getting fired, but I would be worried about this 'thug' pressing charges on you, but chances are he isn't that smart. If he gets a lawyer, then he will probably press charges on you and try to use that as a bargaining chip to get his case with your company dismissed or charged with lower charges. If you company likes you at all, they would accept and just take the loss. However, some businesses would leave you high and dry while they get their criminal.
 
There isn't any reason to fire you, you did what was right, you defended your store and caught one of the guys who robbed it. Sooner or later he'll rat on his friend and the things that were stolen will be brought back.

If he does file a lawsuit though, I say countersuit his ass.
 
This reminds me of the news story I saw on CNN last night about some guy killing two robbers as they fled his neighbor's house with a bunch of items.
 
Wow I'm sorry to hear that your store got robbed. I am glad to hear that you caught one of them safely. I hope that the other guy gets caught soon and that they get charged.
 
A) You're fucking lucky he didn't have a weapon and kill you or overpower you and beat your ass along with taking your wallet. (Yeah, thats my mother-hen instinct taking over, hi)

B) I've been in the same situation, and while you're totally in the right for trying to stop a theif (morally speaking), you'd better take a quick glance at the employee handbook and see if they have a policy against it. Some places, and I know how stupid this sounds, do not want you to stop them. Places like EB and whatnot have huge insurance policies for that kind of stuff so they're not really hurting from it. It's a possibility you could get reprimanded for what you did. Of course if you were my employee I'd yell at you for like a good minute and then give you a day off paid. Ultimately you did the right thing, just dont be surprised if the risk gets you a little tar on your ass.
 
Yea, the criminal can always sue you, but that doesn't mean the case won't get thrown out. Considering he robbed a store, I doubt he could get a good lawyer to begin with. Anyway sucks that you robbed, and I'm glad you're alright. It might not have been the smartest thing to chase them as they might have a weapon you do not know about, but I guess that is an instinct type moment to want to get someone that wronged you.

To be fair only one of them was black. The other one, the one that i caught, was a wigger. I'm being told to take a few days off of work so i can get stories straight for the judge. The company lawyer may be coming in.
 
Good that you caught one of them, and I hope they get a cell so they can bunk with a 6'8 300lb. black man named Molly to spend their sentences with.

I'm tired of walking down the street and hearing "Hey shawty can I get your number?" Um, no.

I had one follow me for 3 blocks while I kept my ipod on my ear. When I took one of the headphones out of my ear to answer my phone, he asked me if he could get my number. After I wouldn't give it to him, he followed me for a little bit more and then rode off on his cool bicycle.
 
From my experience from working in a store, the crime rate is about 50/50 between black and white people. However, the majority of the white shop lifters are immigrants.

Anyway, I we have security guards to take care of that shit for us. Experienced waaaay too many of them pulling up a knife or sending the dog for hunting them down, we've just given up. Why, one of the security guards got bitten by a dog just a few months ago, and just last month someone pulled a knife on them, and the police thought it wasn't urgent enough to come. Last year one pulled a gun at them and hid in the bushes. Police had to send in reinforcement by helicopter just to catch the guy <.<;

Sick thing is, those are only shoplifters... Good thing we haven't actually been robbed yet. Few years ago some guy attacked us with a needle for catching him /sigh. Nevermind the hoodlums that occasionally schedule a "group fight" in the store. Sick fucks. The shit you have to go through working in a store ~.~

Well, I do work in a skate/hip-hop clothing store, so I guess its a bit wilder then most stores <.<; I'm still shocked at the idiocy of the 13-year old kids running in there beating on each other with bats, skateboards and kick bikes though. I'm still not quite clear what they were thinking. One time my colleague had to clean up a pile of blood from the floor when some convict went inside and had to buy new shoes, because he had apparently kicked a window or something, and a shard of glass ran through the shoe and in to his foot, cutting a deep wound. He had to buy new shoes before he went back to the prison to meet with his supervisor for a scheduled meeting. I'm quite surprised he didn't pass out from lack of blood, considering the prison's like 2 hours away... apparently it felt like cleaning up yogurt, so it was quite thick, oxygen-filled blood from what I assume was a quite deep wound ~.~

Wow....I was gonna say something about how I've never seen a store that crazy over here, but I'm sure they exist somewhere, just nowhere I've ever hung out.
