This isn't really a flame, because I'm not mad at anyone, but it is a funny/bad party experience so this seems the best spot. It just defies all logic.
I was levelling as a Beastmaster. I was level 9, and while I was strolling around Sarutabaruta, I get an invite to a Terongi party. Sounds good to me, after all, I've never partied as anything but a mage before. The party consisted of my Bst 9/whm 4, 3 level 9 blms - no subs, and a level 9 redmage - no sub. I only mention they had no subs to show that they were in fact newbs and not noobs.
I quickly noticed we had no tank. My Warrior isn't levelled, and as a Bst, I don't plan on pt'ing. I point that out, and the leader, one of the blms says it doesn't matter. Ah well, I think, it's only level 9, we'll have a good time anyway.
Then he says to me: "Pomp, ur main healer"
I'm a Bst/whm. I'm not main healer material. I can only heal 4 times w/ my 32 mp. Have the redmage do it. His sword can use a rest I'm sure. I didn't say that of course. I only said "Well, I can only cure 4 times, but if you think that'll be enough, it's your call." Four cures with a black mage tank was just asking for trouble.
We get to terongi and the leader dies in the first battle. He insisted on a raise, at level 9, to save only 24 exp. It took 30 minutes for a random passerby to do the good deed, because noone answered the shouts by the other pt members. They wanted me to run back to my moghouse, change jobs, run back, raise, run home again, change jobs and run back, but I wasn't doing that to save 24 exp and a 2 minute walk. I insisted on waiting out the time till the death countdown expired, he HP'd, or a random mage performed a raise. Shortly thereafter, the pt had to go eat dinner or something, and we all went home. Twas a day I'll never forget.
