I thought this movie sucked.
They didn't go far enough into the backgrounds or motives of the antagonists. We don't even know most of their names.
The final battle was retarded, we see Ichigo get completely owned even with his bankai active in one hit, then somehow later he's able to put a even fight up without ever even activating it.
Then we see him start to lose, activate bankai, fight evenly
start to lose again, and randomly he totally obliterates him in 1 attack, wtf?
There was no actively progressing plot, no background on these people.
All they show off is "they want to blow up soul society".. alright? why? exiled. ok, why? we don't know.
they even know that they'll be destroyed by doing so but no emotion over that seems to be shown.
they even decide to put in some terrible loose ends. ukitake uses his shikai, we don't even know what the hell it does, yet they have him use it and then not even attempt to land a single blow, which just makes people mad
the antagonists seem to kick so much ass and then you see them being fought by the same people they badly defeat earlier, and get owned in 1 real hit (every single one of them)
it's not like they were using their best attack either, they just..lost
the animation was great, but they could have done so much more with the way it progressed.
