ToAU info from Fanfest, true?

Not saying it won't be cool, it looks "intriguing" to say the least, but it's SE's answer to people wanting Necro, and that's the truth.
i think its SE's awnser to people wanting a new tank job. Puppet tanks?
What set necro apart from other stuff is MULTIPLE pets, not just one. If its just one puppet, its just as necromancer as SMN

Doesn't look like those puppets will be able to tank much, but who knows, and when would Necro ever have multiple pets out at the same time, not any of the MMO's with necs I've played? Hopefully tommorow, they'll give the lowdown on what Puppet master will be, exactly. BTW, I've heard some stories about you from Lenn :P

LOL, do you even know what Mime does?

I'll give you a hint: it has NOTHING to do with puppets. GG, you owned yourself.

Dude, did you even play diablo 2? which is obviously where the Necromancer idea that everyone WANTS to see is from..

Yea, but there's also a million other MMO's out there with Necros, and not all of them have multiple pets out at the same time, sure it's what people may have wanted, multiple pets, but we wouldn't have gotten that either way. But the only reason I think people wanted necro, is because of the omg undead pets layout.

Also, it to a lesser extent could be, after all
A mime is the representation of actions, character or mood using only gestures and movements rather than words, or the actor in such a performance, specifically a mimic, mime artist, or pantomimist.

They could be using the "puppet" to represent their actions/character or mood, the puppet could be the "Mimic" to the PC.

you know, as far as your argument goes, regardless what the pet class was, it was "GG SE it's necro in disguise".. just because it's a pet class, doesn't mean they're catering to the Necromancer fans.

The final fantasy Mime has NOTHING to do with this.. GG

And the Puppet Master has nothing to do with FF at all, but it's coming to FFXI. And FF Dragoons before XI never had a wyvern pet, but they do now, and before FFXI DRG were great, but now they spend hrs lfg, things change. All I'm saying is, the puppet could be in direct correlation to the Puppet Masters actions, ie a Mimic. We could go on all night about this, but I'm tired, and I want to sleep.

I'm sayin conceptually.

The FF Mime = MIMIC = repeating others' actions. It had nothing to do with puppetry in any way shape or form. - .-'

Yes, but who knows what SE's intention is with the job, and things do change, just because Mimes were like that in past FF's, doesn't mean they'll always be like that. Still haven't had a Mime job in an FF since FFT. The pets could be a mimic to the Puppet Master, ie repeating their actions, aka a Mimic, that's all I am saying, we won't know til tommorow, or whenever SE gives more info. Probably not going to happen, or very feasible, but who knows.

pld

acknowledge that pld might take second seat to nin, make more appealing for pld to be first choice for tanking
auto-refresh
making ability to use shield more ofthen that other jobs (blocking)
more TP gained from shield block

I wonder if the auto-refresh will be stackable with refresh. I hope so, but either way, I like this.

LOL. The "Bahamut's Whisper" question was posed by me and Jirard actually. Jirard was the one who got on the Mic and asked the question

Well, looks like BRDs are finally getting their Chocobo Hum (check /recast, it's in there)

As to the other updates... Brain exploded, I'll get back to you on that. >_>

Yeah thats pretty much what it is, http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/vt2/15/index.html. Thats not the info I was looking for but it pretty much gives a little history on Kazham along with the Chieftainness.

The actual info I was looking for had some fictional characters talking about the mithra homeland and one asked if the other was talking of Kazham. The other answered no and gave a description. I think it was in the Vana' deil Tribune but I can't find it. It was talked about on Killingifrit and maybe here on QCDN but that would be alot of digging. Hopefully what I said will jog some memories.

I was just wondering if anything more was said of adding such a place or not.

You're right, but also, I don't remember all of the details. I've always been a big fan of the storyline behind the mithra, but being that I did them so long ago it is hard to recall everything. Kazham is home of which we know of, as well as a headquarters-- but if you notice... you never see the manthras. Again, I don't know where they were mentioned-- but I clearly recall them as being a rare but existing gender. Not sure if I want them to divulge the rest of the story-- it'd lose the mysterious appeal.

On a side-note, with as much time and effort that I placed into summoner... if they screw the job up I am going to be more irrate than the ranger. I honestly don't know if I want to deal with the "refresh prz"-- especially when the majority of the duration times do not justify the mp cost and BP recast.

To comment to Onions: It is common, actually, in MMO's for them to release content slowly. It is how renound MMO's have managed to continue so that their players continue to play and invest their time. Some have honestly released mid-beta, because the developers are not always ready to meet the deadlines or are under a budget. You don't hear about most've them as much, because if not careful, the game fails and is tossed under the rug.

In this game design, especially, it would be critical for them to do a slow release of the content as it is so full of "team-oriented" content. If your player-base is split between multiple content then you have a failure.

First Panel Q&A said:
Q&A
Tonight's developer panel will be focused on jobs, so no questions will be answered regarding those. I will get an update out as soon as possible after it.

Question:
Are there any plans for 1vs1 PvP?

Answer:
With the expansion there are a number of zones being added specifically made to accommodate PvP.

Question:
Will there be any preconditions for obtaining the new jobs, besides being level 30?

Answer:
No, being level 30 and finishing the required quest is all you need to do.

Question:
Will there be any new nation related missions or new nations you can join?

Answer:
No, however it is a hot topic. Keep bringing it up and we will probably be forced to include some at a later time.

Question:
When can we expect to see Mithran Males or Galken Females?

Answer:
First off, there is no such thing as a Galka Female ( Koji Fox joked: except on the net ), however Mithran Males while not part of Aht Urghan will be seen eventually.

Question:
Will we see the Mithran Capital as part of Aht Urghan?

Answer:
No, not at this time.

which would you rather have -

All the content at once, but with several bugs and riddled with imbalances?

Or a slow trickle of content, all of which is fully functional the moment it's added?
This made me laugh really hard, it's more like "A slow trickle of buggy content that is cleaned up more quickly."

Chocobo Hum is not a low level version of Chocobo Mazurka, it's one in a long line of status resistance songs, increasing paralysis resistance according to dat files.

Bard songs go by the last name of the song, not the first. Advancing March/Victory March, Sheepfoe Mambo/Dragonfoe Mambo, etc. A new increased movement speed song would be called Mazurka.

Here's the real timeline for ToAU:

Release:
-add in new jobs, quests, and first missions.

1 month after release:
-people finally connecting with update server and get to play
-nerf blm
-realize that corsair isn't playable unless they reverse a large portion of the Racc nerf, so they abandon the job

2 months after release

-realize it's near impossible for blue mage to get their monster abilities, so cuddle the job and make it easy
-nerf rdm by giving refresh to everyone else

3 months after release
-realize that blue mage is too powerful, so they nerf monster ability timers to the point that the job is basically a smn
-realize that parties are too overpowered with whm and pld having refresh, so they nerf it
-realize that rdm and blm are now unwanted for exp, so give them laughable new spells just to make fun of them

4 months after release
-nerf samurai for no reason whatsoever, out of the blue, just to make people forget about nerfing the real jobs
I'm excited to see it all unfold.

So pessimistic Stout :P
