I reached RDM 65 for awhile now and I was wondering if I should save for an Enfeebling torque or just buy a Spider Torque. I have enough for the Spider, it is the Enfeebling one that is 500k out of my reach. And if I were just to use the Spider, how long should I use it till I get my Enfeebling?

I use spider torque (as 70RDM Hume) because I am poor and it is campable. It's 300k for +5 skill versus 1M for +7 skill. I guess try the spider one, see how it goes.

If you aren't landing enfeebs with the +5 from the torque and the +15 from AF body and your elemental stave switches and such, then maybe save up for the enfeebling torque. I've done just fine with Spider Torque, personally, so the extra 700k for +2 more skill doesn't seem worth it for my purposes.

I suppose when you get into doing the 'bigger' things, you may want that extra +2 down the road somewhere..

Well, I doubt that I will need the Enfeebling Torque any time soon 'cause I doubt I'll be able to get a EndGame Shell lol

Thanks for your advice :D

Get an Enfeebling Torque. It's the only piece of gear on your neck you should be wearing.

It's clear to me you don't understand reading between the lines, and assuming that I was making a point that it's the only piece of gear you need to wear to do most things on your red mage, besides the obvious of using different neck pieces to rest, nuke et cetera.

If you want to flamebait, do it on the flame board, I'm not going to argue needlessly about a topic that doesn't need to be negotiated, especially not if you're going to post your stupid argument in a place for discussion.

If you're landing enfeebles fine with a Spider Torque, then don't worry about an enfeebling until you end up having to do higher lvl mobs, such as sky, sea etc.

I myself have a Spider Torque and haven't found my enfeebles to be resisted anywhere near often(though before I hit 75 I had one heck of a time landing silence on those evil imps -_-)

By the time you're lvl 75, and if you get an invite to an endgame LS where an enfeebling torque might help you with the extra +2 enfeebling skill, it will have either gone down in price or you may have enough saved up. For now, the Spider Torque will do you just fine as long as you have your elemental staves and your AF body.

spider torque for now and camp it, get your enfeebling torque when you get the chance as prices drop and you've saved for it, then sell your spider.

For the maat fight you would want every possible advantage over the old guy. Especially if you are a Rdm.

In the grand scheme of things will the +2 skill difference be determental to your game play? Of course not, you'll probably not even notice it. That being said at some point you'll definitely want to get an enfeebling torque when you can afford it because plain and simple you want to be the best you can be. In the mean time get a spider, it's better then nothing, and when you can afford it get the enfeebling torque. Preferably BEFORE you hit 75.

I actually camped Dune Widow to get my first spider torque then sold it and paid the difference to get my enfeebling torque. You'll only appreciate your gear that much more when you go out and earn it and Dune Widow is a lotto pop every few hours and very easy to kill with a solo rdm. Not very camped either. I think I went 1/7 on it. I'd say the drop rate is 10-20%.

Definitely. Maat is a pain in the ass. If you still can't afford one by then, I'd say see if you have a friend who will lend it to you, if only just for that fight. Asshole still resists my sleep from time to time.... Reason I'm still 70RDM lol

Whatever, i used a spider for maat. Granted i died 3 times before i beat him, It wasn't because my enfeebs weren't sticking. After going 0/5 on camping the dune widow i decided to buy it, but kept camping it. I eventually got it (1/7), and sold the other.

All in all use a spider until you have money to spend on the enfeebling. I got mine around 72 or 73 when i started doing dynamis.

I have a few RDM friends that have fought Maat without enfeebling torque, and though I never asked them if they had slept him during the fight i'm pretty sure that sleeping Maat is part of the strat to take him down as RDM so I think its safe to say it "can" be done with Spider Torque, but obviously if you're able to get your hands on an enfeebling you'll increase your success.

Honestly, there's not a lot of difference between a Spider Torque and an Enfeebling Torque. Every little bit helps, but 2 Skill isn't going to make or break you.

Have the Spider Torque at 65 and upgrade when you can, but you'll notice a lot more effect for, say, a HQ Staff vs an NQ than you will between an Enfeebling Torque and a Spider...

It somewhat depends on how well you land enfeebs as is, but it also depends greatly on your other gear. For example, you could spend 700k for an extra 2 enfeeb, or you can get a Penitent's Rope instead if you don't have one. In that case, I'd definitely go for the Penitent's Rope.

This is just as example. As Courtney said, you could also get (or save for) an HQ staff instead, which would likely have much more visible results.

actually some the rse belt be better till they get closer to 75 because they give mp and errant give none, this depend on what race he is of course. Later once getting better gear like mp rings or earring and/or some the crimson gear then get penitent belt. Use spider torque, but invest into getting enf torque asap.

Spider torque is good enough, guess I was a noob and had neither until after 75 o.O I even beat maat easily 1/2 on rdm without any of the torques.

If you plan to fight mobs possibly 10 lvls higher than you or more, get the enfeebling, or if a certain mob resists magic more than most.
