I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on possession of mobs when people create giant trains?

It's a pain in the butt when you're trying to help someone find a key or something and another person is just running around trying to create a giant train of as many mobs of possible for farming or something. My opinion is that if it isn't red, it isn't theirs (though I don't apply that to NMs as it's possible to lose hate for a second).

If you can claim it, its totally yours. screw other people!

That's exactly right. If you are able to attack it then then they have no say over the mob. Although I apply the same thing to NMs also. Not my fault that you lost hate, I will do everything I can to take it though if it does go yellow. Now alot of people are going to come on here and say that they would never do something like that, but the truth of the matter is if they spend an entire day camping a mob and got out claimed then the claimer lost hate, they would go for it. So I say if you are killing from peoples trains it's ok.

Thats how I got my Astral Earring. Some gilseller had all 5 Padfeet, I took one that was unclaimed, and it dropped.

However, if it's a train of mobs that are heavily farmed that you're trying to exp off of, no, I wouldn't. And theres a simple reason behind this.

Should that mob have hitten the player and taken spike damage, or "claimed" through diaga, the exp is fucked and it's a waste of time.

In my opinion -

Actual XP groups/solo XP [i.e. BST] should have priority over farmers and those "I'm soloing EP!" guys.

Those guys that solo EPs and crap endgame seriously needto just flag up and goto a party...but otherwise I think have as much right to mobs as farmers.

Farmers all have equal rights to mobs as other farmers. If someone's training, it's more or less disrespectful to other farmers in the area; it wouldn't be direspectful to take mobs from their train. If anything, it'd be rolling over for them if you didn't.
