Treasure Coffers, Priorities...

I already told you what I think Yanzi.
You call it selfish...I think they were selfish by thinking they could sit on that coffer all day.

There comes a time when it won't belong to you just because you are sitting on it.

Too bad.

My point, superceding other discussion: Their priorities aren't my priorities.

from www.m-w.com
Selfish: seeking or concentrating on one's own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others

as for the other pt, they were not selfish but:
Naive: deficient in worldly wisdom or informed judgment

They should have read that definition too.
They were definitely selfish by not claiming what they came to claim, regardless of any scenario.
If I took it right away, it would still be fair, as many have agreed, but I even gave them time to decide. It didn't look too important to them.

And who was being naive?
They were. If they weren't naive, they would have gone home happy. But they chose to ignore common practices in opening coffers and take their sweet time.

No regrets. In the future I might just wait a bit longer. I still don't think I need to send tells. If I allow time, that's definitely good enough. People that sit on a coffer and don't pop it waste everyone else's time.

Huh. I said earlier I had no basis for thinking of you as being a particularly selfish and inconsiderate *person*, merely for having committed a selfish and inconsiderate *action*. However, the more I read your responses ... well, let's just say, "there's a basis".

sending a tell: less than 5 seconds, no miscommunication.
waiting 15 secondsor more: assumptions made, things happen.

i really don't see your logic here. you're trying to act considerate by giving them time yet being considerate in a half-assed manner. it's like if you're trying to save a drowning guy, do you throw him a life preserver and walk away, or do you reach over and grab his hand? sure, your intentions may have been good by waiting 15 seconds, but there are better ways to accomplish things.

the way you do things by waiting, you're trying to make them fail. you're trying to find an excuse for you to justify taking the coffer. just ask yourself would you have not taken the coffer if they sent you a tell? you obviously were hoping they did not send you a tell and you were obviously hoping they wouldn't tell you they wanted if it you sent the /tell. it's like if you forgot to tape your favorite show while you're waiting for your date. she is 15 minutes late. do you: a. attempt to call her or b. run home and watch your show and blame her for not getting in touch with you.

To both of you. Consider me tired of this crap, as I have explained it before many times in better fashion. I'm sick of talking about it, only because my explanations become more diluted as my statements are analyzed, chunks set aside for bold faced highlighting, etc. That's not the point. This has never been something to capture in a bold faced nutshell.
Me making statements that are out of context is just a result of my frustration.

My bottom line is that I'll do what I will do. It may not be the nicest most helpful shiny thing to do, but then again, it's sure not wrong to handle things that way either. I open coffers like I want what's in them. It's a good practice. Others would do well to copy.

More conversation (if it's worthwhile) can be added to the coffer opening guide thread.

Bickering at this point is proving nothing.
