WHat is yalls opinion on using Trial Weapons in a EXP party? Would you do it? why? why not?

Casue when i hit 71 im thinking aboot using the Trial Axe to replace my Blue Pick( i forget the name)

Would i be in the wrong for using a Trial Axe during a EXP party?

as a general rule, dont do it. They suck.

if you're exping with friends and they dont care, go ahead, but dont do it in pickup parties.

it doesnt hurt, really... But you definitely wont be as good as you otherwise would be, unless the weapons you have before match the Trial weapon (which is never the case, almost)

It would be better to use it with friends to break the latent, but just ask the pt ahead of time if its okay with them if you use it. Im sure they wouldnt mind.

Most of the trial weapons are actually pretty good, but there's always a much better option available; you really shouldn't have any need to use them in a party, though. Unless you're a loser without any friends, you can get the points done in an hour or two and then every fight besides savage blade(which you don't even need for exp for the most part) is easy; so you shouldn't need a party to get points for it.

The weapons themselves are mostly fairly good, but there's no good reason why you should still have the weapon in an exp party.

yeah *most*

aka not bow of trials

might be better to just duo some mobs and close with light in boyahda tree, and skill stuff up at the same time

Tachi of Trials is actually pretty good b/c you can't use Hagun until 72. Plus you can get rid of latent on Tachi of Trials so fast being a sam.

I asked in my parties when I was doing my one handed axe. Most of the time they didn't care. I'd say at least ask first. I'd also say that skillup parties are a good time to get it done.

As long as it's your primary weapon(s), I don't really care. But if you're a WAR trying to get Impulse Drive, gtfo with that.

Just be courteous and ask before using it. And actually the Axe trial wep is pretty decent, so... I personally wouldn't mind.

just duo it with someone because you dont sc much at 70 especially with TOAu, and you spelled cause wrong ;)

skillup parties and latents are for OUTSIDE experience parties. you bring your *best* to the table to EXP, not gimp yourself in any way, shape, or form.

basicly if your party is comprised of ravenous EXP monsters hellbent on getting chain 2000, then no cause with the trial weapons you'll only hit chain 1000 and that's unsatisfactory. :rtfm:

just ask before hand. i dont think it should matter unless it has a visible adverse effect on exp. which it shouldnt cause there is more then 1 DD in the group.

Definently have to agree here. I helped a Monk unlock his destroyers in a Bibiki Bay PT a long time ago on my DRK. Needless to say his damage was very minimal and it took a few hours to unlock them.

It's like the BLM I partied with in Quicksand Caves a while ago. It was a melee heavy party and this guy -refused- to stop casting Bio II. I was on RDM main healing, so I was already at a disadvantage to enfeeble the spiders.

We had a tarutaru NIN, so no matter how much damage reduction you get from Bio II - sickle slash will still one shot the poor guy. So I asked the BLM to please stop casting it, that I would keep Dia II on the Spider so we kill them faster.

Buddy keeps casting Bio II, so I inquire as to why..."I'm levelling my Dark Magic Skill"

I left the party right after that, I shit you not. They probably thought I was some snot nosed elite - never skill up in EXP pt. And they're right.

Make your own PT and make everyone respect your authorithaaa!

=D

ps. Get skilled teammates so you can get 5 Points each SC.

That's pretty stupid lol, especially if you asked him to stop. However, I think that skilling up in xp pt is okay as long as it doesn't cause significant xp loss or endanger your pt members. I must admit I threw out the occasional dia II on my blm with a rdm in pt while I was leveling to try to skillup enfeebling. :P

Oh and Claud, if you need someone for an hour or so over the weekend to help cure you while you skill-up let me know. That should help make up for my capping enfeebling during our assault runs on the wormies! (I swear they needed slowed/paralyzed/blinded/etc. even if they only stayed alive 5 seconds!)

I'm glad im not alone on this. I've asked alot of people why they were casting a certain spell, and its always "im skilling up". Well, I dont believe i joined a skill up party, so {Take care}.

When I was leveling my ninja, back when I was still spinning the wheel for hate(around 54 or so), the party leader accused me of skilling up in an exp party and bitched at me to melee more. They wanted me to skill chain with them when there was a damage dealer that fit better into the same skill chain they wanted me to do(they wanted me to open distortion and the other DD was a RNG with sidewinder), but they ignored the other DD to make me use a crappy weapon skill when I was barely meleeing at all. I explained why I was casting spells twice, told them to use the rng for the skill chain since they were better anyways; both times they just ignored it and thought I was just using the party to level my ninjitsu skill(which was 2 levels from cap already anyways). I left that party quickly; skilling up something that's gimped in an exp party is bad, but when you level you have to recap all of your skills; especially when they're actually important ones.

Well there's a good reason that I take some hostility at people not doing their job 100% to their potential. Sure only casting Bio II isn't going to cause a significant loss. However.

I've known people who cap their skills before joining EXP parties. Pheebe/Pheona for one used to cap her MNK Hand-to-Hand on a regular basis with Kasuke, just to bring her 100% to each party.

I didn't take 1-2 months off skilling my great sword from 130~225 to party with some asshole who's going to unlock destroyers.

1. You can skillup dark magic easily enough by tossing Bio *1* without overwriting Dia 2 (after the 30's when Dia 2 first shows up of course; until then, just suffer quietly and get skillups with Drain, dark magic skill really isn't so hard to catch up).

That, and Drain (which also provides dark magic skillups) is arguably worth using whenever the recast is up because it's so damn MP-efficient. But I know *way* too many people still think that the number shown in the log is how much it damages the enemy (when what it shows is how much you're healed - you can do beefy Drain damage at full HP and consequently have it show as 0 in the log).

2. If you'd be gimped by not having the WS *itself* for exp (Asuran Fists and Tachi: Kasha mainly), get it in advance. Stop after whatever exp party dings you to 71, go get the WS, and don't go back to exping until you have it.

If you wouldn't really be (Decimation in a non-skillchaining party for example), you can skip getting it and keep on exping, but exp is still not the place to get your points. And you should still eventually get it for when you're in parties that do skillchains. Most of the quested WS fall into this category, where they're good to have for skillchain options and decent (though not top-notch) damage, but not something you'd use if it weren't for the skillchain.

If that weapon type is generally best avoided in exp entirely anyway (Black Halo and Retribution), or if you're a mage job, you can frankly skip getting it until you bloody well feel like it. And of course, when you do feel like it, don't get your points in exp parties. :P
