Did anyone have trouble installing the beta? Installed it but when I go to launch it, it quits working and closes. Does it really have to be installed on a FAT32 drive?

It crashes on me when trying to boot it up. I'm pretty sure my issue is driver related though.

So I finally realized I was reading the installation block slightly wrong with the FAT32 thing. But I read the system requirements and both my wife and I's computer exceed the min specs. Anyone have any idea when I click the launcher for the beta it just stops working and doesnt try to patch or anything, I still havent downloaded any patches or anything outside of the initial client.

If you're using Windows Vista or 7, are you allowing it the appropriate permissions? Both the initial installer and the initial update program create file paths, and probably need permission to do so if you're using the standard permission structure.

I realize you've probably explored this option, but I couldn't come up with anything else to remedy the problem off of the top of my head, so I figured I'd post something rather than just moving on...

Check video card drivers too.

Do you have the latest service pack for your windows version? It wouldn't let my husband install on his PC because he didn't have SP2...

Nope, up-to-date on everything and still won't do anything past letting me download the installer. Did the exe and all it did was put in one folder and put an icon on my desktop for the beta. When I click that icon it has a black window to start, then after 5 seconds it stops working and closes.

This is my exact same problem too. Either means driver is out of date or your system can't handle it. :x I've tried nerfing the settings as well just in case it was system related.

Movers stole a shit load of NES games from us when the NES was the system. I know the pain. :'(

My system exceeds all the requirements, and I checked all my drivers for updates and they are up-to-date, I think the beta just doesn't like me lol.

Vista service pack 2? Windows 7 up to date? I don't know. I'm reinstalling. :(

Then you are like me. Beta just hates you.

This is SCREAMING vista is fail for FFXIV. No doubt they will patch it eventually to make it work. Just god knows when with SE. Its like hoping your piece of shit drunk hillbilly uncle Ted will stop collecting car parts on his yard and actually start mowing his lawn. I mean just mow the damn lawn. You would think he would add something productive to his schedule, instead he saves up all his used condoms and then looks at his calendar and realizes its the first Tuesday of the month wherein he goes about the city distributing his used condoms on street corners like some sort of urban Johnny Appleseed.

Omg I dont even know where that began to come from...its late...and im sorry.

But... I'm playing it on vista, and I crash less with each patch so >.>

Oh I must have misread, I thought I read earlier that you had the same setup and windows as Marick.

Marick: Yeah Vista SP2.

Romper: Then you are like me. Beta just hates you.

But I guess you meant as far as the error of black loading windows mini window and then crashing.

Since your both on different machines and setups, I have to believe then that this indeed is a driver/setting issue. Something you both have in common whether it be hardware or software is creating the same error that we know for certain.

That's what I'm assuming here. I'm reinstalling the beta in case there was a corrupted file as I did timeout a lot during the initial patch DL.

I cant get the beta to run, either, but I knew I wouldnt be able to play the game. It was a curiosity thing, I just wanted to try. Ive run games that were above my specs before, just with a couple hiccups.

Ive also tried installing it on a more-than-capable laptop, but there was an error instructing me to install Vista SP2... The laptop was running windows 7.

Im not crushed, I think I can wait 2+ more weeks.
