Trouble installing beta

I cant get the beta to run, either, but I knew I wouldnt be able to play the game. It was a curiosity thing, I just wanted to try. Ive run games that were above my specs before, just with a couple hiccups.

Ive also tried installing it on a more-than-capable laptop, but there was an error instructing me to install Vista SP2... The laptop was running windows 7.

Im not crushed, I think I can wait 2+ more weeks.

I had that same error when I went to install the second time around. Had to DL a new beta setup.

I've never even gotten to download the initial patch, just the beta setup dl. I've done that three times and nothing. I'll probably end up just wait for retail.

Hmm.. I'm downloading the patch now. :\

now I have another problem. On this second laptop the installation says there isnt enough disk space, I need 12gb on the drive containing my documents folder... Which there isnt space on one of the partitions, but I have 100 gb free on a second partition containing a different My Documents folder. Anyone have a solution?

Hate to say it but you're going to have to free up space... because iirc from what I've read on FFXIVcore it has to be installed where it wants to be installed :(

I finally got to the download thing, but it's taking forever to download the update >.> their servers really busy eh?

I was having the same issue, with about 9 hours of research and playing around on my new laptop I finally got it running. The solution was the stupid ATI Catalyst Control Center. If you have it installed and it isn't version 10.8, it won't let the game pickup on your video card (Which is needed to do the initial install of the beta client).

The only way I was able to get this working was to go to the ATI site and download the 10.8 complete version, uninstall ATI Catalyst Control Center completely from computer (Drives and all folders that the uninstall don't get are also important to remove, I used a program called "DriveSweeper") After uninstalling, restart computer, install new ATI with new Drivers, restart the computer, download the beta client (I downloaded the torrent from Demonoid.com and just unzipped it and moved it to my "Program Files (x86)" folder. Download takes a while due to the 4.6 Gb file.), Restart computer, hit the Beta exe. and BAM! it started to download all the patches. If the patch download freezes, just restart the Beta exe., sometimes the patch download will seem like it isn't working and then all of a sudden 175Kb/sec.

Hope this helps, it seems like most Windows 7 (64bit) computers with ATI cards are having this problem.

Edit: Forgot to put a space between "Restart" and "the", was bugging me... lol
