Last night I was having trouble trying to change my email address in my profile. It kept saying "couldnt connect to email server" I didnt think much about it, just figured it wsa a temp thing and I would change it later. But today on the game a friend was telling me he was trying to register here and he kept getting the same message. Any idea what could be causing this?

Basically that means that the message board is unable to verify the email address, which is 99.99999% of the time caused by an invalid email address.

What happens is that the board opens a SMTP connection to the mail server that supposedly is hosting the account in question, and asks whether such an account exists. If the mail server replies that there is such an account (actually that's not what the mail server replies, but it is easier to explain it that way), then a user can go ahead and register.

Should there be persisten error messages and you are 100% sure that the entered email is valid, please either email me the domain your account is on and I can check things further.

Keep in mind that I am out of town till the 10th and will probably not have access to any email until then.

Well I just went into my profile and tried to change my email address again and am getting the same message "Could not connect to the email server" My email is valid so I guess I'll send you an email. My friend said his email address is valid too so I'll get him to send you an email also.

Ok, I am now sure that there is something wrong with the registration process. Nobody on my ls can register. They are all being told that "cant connect to email". Also I notice that Legolasofelfwoo was the last person to register (on 8-27) in a long time. Seems like new people use to register everyday.

I agree, there seems to be something wrong, will check into it if I can. Right now I got ripped off and payed 20 Euro's for slow ass wireless provides by O2. I am furiou enough that I will call them tomorrow morning (of course their customer service that does wireless internet has regular business hours). It is soooooooooo slow that I can not even APOP my email, just times out, good grief!

Thanks Sculli!
