I love this freaking game man... Vigilante 8 is coming to XBL and its not lesser version of TM. It is a totally different beast... However i love TM so much man... The characters are so cool lol.

I doubt it'll be a PS3 exclusive to be honest XD but who cares? It'll be fun.

You do know that Twisted Metal is a Sony-published game, right?

But it's not a first-party game, so it could still be multi-platform.

So you're telling me that a game, owned by Sony (which, by definition, is first-party), could go multi-platform?

The game isn't owned by sony. The creators of the twisted metal series started a new company, and that new company is making this game. It's not a first-party game, because the company is not owned by Sony. Therefore, it could potentially go multi-platform, because Sony does not have direct control over the game. It probably won't, because one of the developers is David Jaffe, and he has a hard-on for the PS3 almost as big as Firestreak's; but aside from his choice, there's nothing really stopping it from being multi-platform.

Just because they've all been released on playstation consoles, doesn't mean that it's a first-party game or that Sony owns it. At the time, multi-platform titles pretty much didn't exist because the playstation owned 3/4 of the market.

See TM 3&4. When Single Trac (the original developers) left Sony and signed with GT Interactive, the games were developed by 989 Studios, Sony's in-house team. So unless Single Trac are the most generous people in the world and let Sony produce them out of the kindness of their hearts, Sony has the rights to Twisted Metal.

After several Single Trac people left GT and formed Incognito Entertainment, they signed with Sony (again) and were given the opportunity to work on a new TM game, resulting in TM: Black.

So it appears the only way to get to TM is through Sony.

And if you want to get technical, it would be a second-party game, so it would still be only on PS3 since they signed with Sony.

I thought some of the other Twisted Metal games were released on other systems hmmm.. and ya, it isn't Sony owned exactly so I see it probably being multi-system only for sales but if it's true what Baja says about Jaffe then.. *shrugs* XD

I don't see how this is hard to understand. Sony has published EVERY Twisted Metal game ever made. Two of the games were made BY Sony itself. When the creators left Sony, they weren't making TM games until they signed with Sony again (in fact, it was Sony who let them make a TM: Black).

Twisted Metal is a Sony property, so it can't be multi-platform.

really? hmm.. shows how much I really pay attention to some of the games I play XD I still remember Twisted Metal being for other things though.. hmm.. wasn't there one for computer? XD

Yes, there was a sub-PS1 quality port of TM2 to PC. Besides that, they've been only on a PlayStation in some or another.

ah, I see :P hehe, well then, PS3 Exclusive yay? lol

Sony owns the Twisted Metal IP.

This.

MS owns the rights to the Halo franchise. Bungie can make games for whatever platform it wants to, but can only make Halo games for MS.

likewise for Sony and Twisted Metal.

I wonder if Mistwalker has for a deal with MS :P since 360 sells poorly in the Japanese market and it's a Japanese company..hehe (honestly I'm hoping Lost Odyssey leaves X-Box 360 exclusivity so I can play it on something else... even if that is never going to happen, I can hope :P)
