Based on the popular Murphy's Laws, and adapted from it, other sources, and just plain made up by me, a work in progress of Tyr's Laws based on FFXI and our expierences in it.

BY ALL MEANS, if you have an expierence, suggestion, or thought you want made one of Tyr's Laws i ask you to PM me with it, i will write it up, post the addition, and give you credit for it. Thx and hope you enjoy

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Rule #1)
If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong.

(Rule #2)
If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

(Rule #3)
It is impossible to make a foolproof plan because fools are ingenious.

(Rule #4)
Everything takes longer than you think.

(Rule #5)
Whenever you set out to do something, something else must be done first.

(Rule #6)
Whenever you help with a mission/quest someone involved will undoubtably missed a crucial prerequisite. See rule #5

(Rule #7)
You Will always find something in the last place you look.

(Rule #
No matter how long or how hard you shop for an item, after you’ve bought it, it will always be on sale somewhere cheaper.

(Rule #9)
It case of doubt, make it sound convincing.

(Rule #10)
Never argue with a fool, people might not know the difference.

(Rule #11)
If you want something bad enough, chances are you won’t get it.

(Rule #12)
Whenever you spend all day camping an NM, it will once popped, be stolen by a gilseller that the last 8 hour update was supposed to help stop.

(Rule #13)
The complexity and frustration factor is inversely proportional to how much time you have left to finish, and how important it is.

(Rule #14)
If authority was mass, stupidity would be gravity.

(Rule #15)
If it’s stupid but works, it isn’t stupid.

(Rule #16)
If your attack is going really well, it’s an ambush.

(Rule #17)
The enemy invariably attacks on two occasions: when they’re ready & when you’re not.

(Rule #1
Teamwork is essential; it gives the enemy other targets to chose from.

(Rule #19)
If the enemy is within range, so are you.

(Rule #20)
Professional adventurers are predictable, Vana’diel is full of dangerous amateurs.

(Rule #21)
The auction house is always out of the one item you need.

(Rule #22)
The newest addition to your current party will be the first to die and cause the rest to disband.

(Rule #23)
If the Red Mage won’t Refresh the Paladin, plan for down time.

(Rule #24)
When trying to save Gil for an item on the Auction House the price will always skyrocket, while by the same law anything you put up for sale will be half the price by the next purchase.

(Rule #25)
The only WHM available to party will go AFK repeatedly during combat.

(Rule #26)
Your puller will engage a target and bring it back just as a crucial member lags out.

(Rule #27)
You will always be told how to do your job by the player with the gimped subjob and gear 8 levels too low.

(Rule #2
The drama in your linkshell will always come to a head whenever you finally have more free time to play.

(Rule #29)
If the newest recruit tries to pull a worm to your camp, shout for a raise and kick him from the group simultaneously.

(Rule #30)
All mobs in Vana’diel, no matter the region, appear to share a common ancestor.

(Rule #31)
The more you plan, research, and build strategies the greater the odds someone will just come along and screw it all up. ENTER LEROY JENKINS

(Rule #32)
Your mom/dad, wife/husband, gf/bf, son/daughter, brother/sister, boss, neighbor, doorbell, police dept, fire dept, pet, telephone, fire alarm, etc will always demand your attention at the worst possible time for you and your teammates.

(Rule #33)
The more rare/expensive the material the more likely it will be lost when your synthesis fails.

(Rule #34)
The greater your need for a warp or teleport the harder it will be to get one.

If they're trying to cyber with your mithra, its' a guy.
If they're trying to cyber with your hume, it's a guy.
If they're trying to cyber with your elvaan, it's a guy.
If they're trying to cyber with your galka, it's a guy.
If they're trying to cyber with your tarutaru, it's michael jackson, a guy.

Lesson learned? There are no females on the internets that want to have sex with you.

The Laws Of Refresh
--First Law of Refresh:
The time it takes to find a Red Mage will be no less than double the time it took you to find the other 5 members of your party (quadruple for Bards).

--Second Law of Refresh:
30 minutes after you decide to rough it w/o a refresher, invite a 6th member and start moving to camp, one will throw his flag up.

--Third Law of Refresh:
The average time for a Red Mage or Bard to LFP is .0006 seconds.

--Fourth Law of Refresh:
RDM+BRD in one party is godly.

(Rule #38) by Lecan[/]
"The Beastmaster Clause"

--If anyone dies and a beastmaster is within 400 feet of that person, he is automatically assumed the perpetrator.

I believe it was Jeff Foxworthy who had a bit about this quote. OF COURSE its in the last place you look, why the hell would you keep lookin for it after you found it.

"Honey, did you find your wallet?"
"Yea, but im still lookin for it..."

If the Red Mage won’t Refresh the Paladin, plan your escape route now.
Q. F. T.

If you have a NM camp to yourself for multiple hours, it will not spawn till five minutes after another player arrives that can't speak english and it will spawn much closer to them than to you.

Somewhat true, if you both have ranged weapons, and if the mob attacks from ranged. But, there's a few meanings to that.

lmao Celvantes, those refresh laws are quite true, but not all the time will a pty be looking for members, sometimes I've spent an hour at least lfp, but majority of the time when I lfp on my rdm and I'm waiting a long time, is because everyone else is lfp and no one formed a pty just yet.

I like being rdm because I never have to start any ptys and can try to do other stuff while waiting.

Addendum to the Mai Ikari corrolary:

That Mithra you want to cyber with? Is a guy.

If they're wearing a swimsuit, they're a guy. If they're wearing a manteel, they're a guy. If they're wearing a dragon subligar and that skimpy THF AF body piece, they're a guy. If their Mithra is showing any skin, they're a guy. They have a penis.

All Mithra in FFXI should be assumed to be male until proven otherwise, especially if they are NIN, THF/NIN, RNG/NIN, SAM, DRK, or WAR.
