I doubt the user base will double, more than likely people are just going to buy the converter boxes(or even a DVD recorder with an ATSC tuner) for under $100 than spend $1000 on a new TV; especially old people. I've had tons of people come in asking me about the converter boxes saying they didn't want to buy a new TV. Plus, the change only effects those who don't use set top boxes or satellite, so not everyone with SDtv's are going to need to change over anyways.I really only meant it as they were LOOKING to find problems with the Wii other than gimmicky controls. I do think that the next gen of ANY console will require a higher format than DVD9 because it simply doesn't make sense to keep releasing SD material when the user base of HDTV will more than double this year because of the 2009 digital broadcast swap.
I think that the vast majority of the problems with vista have been fixed already or the "features" that cause the problem can be turned off, and that everyone is just hanging on to the problems that were fixed a while ago without looking at the current status. I haven't had any problems using vista, but then I'm slightly more proficient than the average user; so it could just be that the people who have problems today are just morons when it comes to computers. The 360 is the second of two huge products that people were made to pay to be beta testers for. Vista and the 360 really showed where Microsoft is trying to go with their company. Releasing an unfinished, unreliable system that people are required to upgrade to if they want to continue buying new software, and laughing as they unwittingly (in most cases) shell out money on an inferior product, from a stability standpoint, to the previous generation. Selling PCs all day, I know the disdain that the consumer base has for Vista. Requiring that all new PCs are shipped with Vista actually HURTS sales from my perspective.
