Unable To Create Mules

Anybody else have this problem? I create a character on an empty ID but I just get a black screen instead of the opening CS and can't do anything. I've tried on windower mode, i've tride on full screen. Nothing.
 
Not all video cards can handle the character creation visuals (note that the graphics are a different sort from normal in-game stuff: much higher quality). Log out of FFXI entirely and run the FFXI config utility, and choose to use "simplified character creation visuals" - that may solve the problem.
 
Not to mention.

ALL "FX" series video cards by GeForce are not supported by FFXI. My friend found out the hard way.
 
Definately not my graphics card. It seems to be certain content ID's that just don't let me create a character on, as weird as it sounds. Got in touch with Tech Support and had them move my character a zone and it worked.
