How so? All the pants at my lvl are just def which im not too conserned with eyt, at least until i get 48 and get haste which then ill melle more. Most PTs dont care that i dont have pants. Well, since 90% of the time im leader, they cant do anything about it^^ Ill get pants later on, just 4 more lvls of "freedom"!

To me, you should keep your gear updated or at least good if you can.
I have a my level armor and my RSE Vest and Shorts on me at all times, but most of the time my party is fine with me wearing my RSE peices(Less defense, but more mana) plus other mana boosters that are low level but decent (Like my Astral Ring. It's level 10, but who's gonna stop wearing it because of that!? LOL). As long as the gear works... Fishing gear and the yukata don't cut it though, there are no advantages to wearing them.

I need to get myself a new hairpin, I keep forgetting ><

Unless you are leveling 1-7 :p. /em runs around in lords yukata and field gear beating up mandys.

I just have this personal twitchiness about pants >< . I think because half the time female chars in this game don't get to wear pants. ; ;

lol Keits- Kert was actually the very first person on my Blist, believe it or not. Day one of the PS2 release, my hubby and I were hanging out in Sandy to help the newbies, Kert walks up and /slaps my husband. When my husband sent him a /tell letting him know that was really rude, Kert so eloquently replies "wow ur gay i just felt like slapping someone cn I have 1K gil". There was a lot more inanities to follow as poor hubby tried to teach the apparently uninstructable Kert, and he ended up on both our blacklists. Real class act there, I'm not surprised to see he's continuing the trend.

Getting back on topic though, I have to say that "under-level" isn't really the term that should be used, but rather "below standard". Some armor (RSE especially) remains at or above standard for many levels. Other gear, like Scale mail, becomes obsolete within just a few levels. I'm not one who asks for my parties to have the UBER gear (i.e. anything outside of normal farming skills of a given level) but I at least want my fellow party members to have gear that is appropriate for their level and job.

I in no way, shape or form EVER expect anybody to own +1 gear. It's quite a delightful surprise, however, when they ARE wearing the +1 or really good gear. What bothers me, is seeing things equipped unappropriate for the job, such as MP items on melee and HP items on mages, or cricuial equipment slots left unequipped that could be filled by decent replacements that are cheap.

Example, Beetle Earrings on damage dealers, which only cost about 2k a piece and can be used for SEVERAL levels...

It's not very difficult to keep your gear at least up to date appropriate to your job... THF, MNK and DRG can get away with wearing Merc. Cptn's gear for 10 levels, or even more in the THF's case. And mages missing crucial spells bothers me too... it's not hard to slow down your leveling to afford one spell that will make EXP flow easier/more safely.

Examples: Escape on BLM, Reraise on WHM, Dispel on RDM, etc.

Oh, and any BLM that doesn't have 2x eremite's rings on is just pathetic... the rings are like 1k a piece, or a little more, and they can last you all the way up to 54.

I know I mentioned this in another thread, but it bears repeating i think.

For starters, my BLM wears Worker's Gear, because it is the best defense I can get at my level without sacrificing my hairpin (I need that 15mp). Most people dont bother to check me, and probably think im some noob in Field gear... but thats not really what I wanted to talk about.

A few members of my LS and I decided to do a 22-24 group last night. We needed to fill in two spots, and both were tank spots. I see a PLD seeking, named Kert, rank 2 or 3... so I invite him.

"Hey"
"hi can I have 1kgil"
"No..."

I knew, then, that I needed to /check his quipment. Bear in the mind that he was lv23...

He had two leather rings... +1 def each...
No earrings...
No neck piece...
Lv9 Sword...
Lv9 Shield...
Some peices of beetle armor (not too bad)...
Some peices of lv10 scale main (omg)...
Warriors belt (only really okay peice)...

So, we politely inform him that "We run a tight ship, Kert, and if you cant keep up, we will probably have to let you go."

I let him know this before we even started. He tells me "Im not no noob".

So, after coaching him through three awful fights with Tough mobs, we decide to let him go.

"Kert, Its just not working out, we need to let you go"
"Fuck u"
"Nice attitude"
"You make shitty xp fuck u"
"Dont worry, you are a PLD, you'll have another group in no time, Good luck!"
"You fuckin suck fuck u"
"Good bye!"
"Ha I got another party!"
"OMG IN OUR FACE!"

What a jerk... he wastes my parties time... cant play his job... and then cusses me out. I feel sorry for the group that picked him up.

I am a level 17 (as of last night! yay!) paladin. The moment I leveled to 17 I used my scroll of Cure II and switched in to full Lizard armor. I am planning on taking a break (if I can stand it) to do some farming so that I can afford some rings and to buy beetle armor before I need it.

X-Files? :D

I was in a party yesterday in the Dunes leveling ym WAR. I passed up 16 and realized I had gone far enough. I disbanded because my gear was dated at that point. And I ran out of food...
Or at least these were my valid excuses for bailing.

It was also the worst PT I have been in since I have been playing. The entire party almost died twice. When we zoned the last time, I just kept moving right towards the ship.

<thank you> for the <party>
Buh-bye.

I was in two bad parties in the last TWO times I partied.

One, there was a blm not equipped with anything worthwhile. Wearing a Yukata to the dunes. No stat boosting armour. The same blm said "If we have to zone, I'll get the mob and then I'll cast warp." I'm sorry, but if you're a blm, how are you going to get instant hate on a runaway mob and then expect you'll have time to cast warp while the mob goes to town on you. (fragile mages....I should know, I generally am one).

Two, I had a blm who thought our puller wasn't doing a good job so he wanted to PULL WHILE the puller was bringing someone back. This was brilliant.

and Three.... I had a blm who was ill equipped again.... and he left the party because he lotted for a beastmans seal (which no one agreed we were in a lotting party) and didn't get it...lol.

*sigh* how I love the dunes. This post has made me look at what a character is wearing. Unfortunately, I never examine people unless I ask first or if they have their bazaar up... It kind of shows in their play ability if they have crappy armour. Bad armour = no surprise if they turn out to be a bad player (not saying you can't be a good player with bad armour, just it's not a surprise if you turn out to be a crap player).

well, thanks to anesly im officially not pantless anymore^^ *promises to wear pants and not drop them somewhere in east altepa dessert again*

I take what i said back, nothing beats a blm/whm being main helaer in fishing gear...in yhoat.....at lvl 26-27. Swede is my hero.

well this is kinda off topic but yea I want to say it Im a pally and ranger and I keep my gear up to date wit the best possible crap i can find...since i got the cash and yea I like to waste it... I check people alot..and I hate the stupid mofos that get pissed off when you check them..One of the reasons I check people is to see their equipment as a form of reference towards my job to see wut most people use and whats good and all....well this off topic but yea I want to say it...most times i would tell you that ur equipment sucks cuz..yea it does..and someone has to tell you and not let you be a lazy dumb ass that has sucky gear pass some lvls.

excuse my grammar im not gonna read over everything i type cuz its boring. blah

Dunes (*ominous music*). I've been lvling BLM. I refuse to join PTs in dunes without a WHM--this takes care of a lot of pointless standing around. I join PT with WHM, rest of PT makeup looks good on paper.

Level 18 Elvaan WHM (I forget what his name was) is wearing his Summerfest robe. No big, people wear those around, I assume he'll change out of it once we start fighting--which of course doesn't happen. I think--I *hope*--maybe he forgot (hey, it happens). I examine him. Besides the robe, he is wearing all fishing gear--not even the Angler's gear, which has a little bit better DEF, oh no. The level 1 Fisherman's set, DEF of wet toilet paper. I send him a tell and politely ask him how come he's wearing this. Reply:

"I can't afford anything else. I figured I'd buy fishing gear and make crazy money off carps but uh that didn't really work out."

I don't expect people to have the uberest gear as soon as they level. I really don't. But jebus.

Get. Off. Your. Lazy. 2-MP-No-DEF-Elvaan-Ass, and go fucking farming. Thank you.

(Needless to say, PT didn't last long.)

But Jebus what?... kidding around.

I don't have to experience this since i'm a BST, but when I'm going toward my exp spots I see these level 25+ people in the summerfest robe but they arn't just standing there looking cute. They are FIGHTING. I always stand around to see if their Legit whm will die first trying to keep them alive or their extremely low def lets them die first. Once it was a Hume Female WAR/MNK tanking. She was using sword / shield also some Bee sparta or something like that. Mob was bouncing from dmg dealers to whm and back. Ahh funny times.

Yeaowch.... I've seen Kert last Saturday night... The only thing that got improved was his level. He went up to L31, and I still wonder how people would put up with that. I have to say, I have no respect for a PLD that has half his equipment slots empty. I mean, c'mon! You've been up to L30 with another job! Wear some pants!

One of the things I require from a fellow party member is to be able to do his job, or at least be ready to learn how to do it. And another would be to show at least a bit of respect towards others. Our team leader told us Kert spammed /tells about how he deleveled in Garlaige, and other random obscenities.

Slightly out of date equipment isn't too much of a concern for me, even if I do my best to keep my own gear up do date (working on my Hairpin presently before I proceed to Garlaige) But I won't kick someone because they don't have that crucial, 300k armor, weapon or spell on them so they can use it the moment they level. But when it's been at least 3 levels you could have bought some nifty, affordable gear... Farming isn't all that tough really, and can be enjoyable at times too.

For the least, Kert is worth a good laugh now and then. I told my whole LS about what I saw, and I sure every other PT member did the same with theirs. It's still crazy how a crappy PLD can be power-leveled like that.

I am SO GLAD somone brought up Kert. You have to love crappy Paladins who cant keep the hate. The worst paladin i have ever partied (albeit very breifly thank god) with. Last time i checked i was glad his gear was a little better than before but still, just bad.
