update details Apr. 18, 2006

On a side note, if they nerf multi-hit weapons with this update, like someone on BG said 1 TP per hit after initial hit, that'll basically screw over Merc Kris, that GKT (don't know name), kraken, and to some extent, Ridill.

And I just bought Merc Kris ;;

They're likely making changes so that if the mob gets stolen, that the people who originally had claim will not be attacked no matter their position on the mob's hate list unless they have claim. It wouldn't be all that hard for them to implement, just when they're running the check for who the mob should attack, they determine who has claim as well as the person with the most hate.
I disagree. Its not a change to the hate list at all. It would only be a change to the act of claiming, turning the mob red. You can not turn the mob red by attacking for example, unless you (or likely someone in your alliance) is on the top of the hate list. This is an easy check for SE to make compared to what you are describing.

Unfortunately I think it may be something designed to encourage mages to melle and gimp /nin subs. SE did say they wanted war to stop using /nin all the time.
I don't think they ever said that. They did say they wanted war to use a wider variety of weapons, given our fairly good ratings in so many different combat skills.

Well, while it might be that case, I have a serious doubt for it.

The TP Nerf happened a while ago, S-E learned about it and wants to fix it, especially to make melees a bit more "useful" in players eyes. If anything, it'll go up, not down.

Square-Enix used to be dumb enough to do something like that, but I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing now. Also, posting on the BG forums won't be the endall answer, only testing when it accually comes on-line (Especially since S-E will never go too far in depth with updates, unless they're explaining something completely new).

Thats right they wanted war to use a wider variety of weapons. Considering that sword is the only 1h weapon that a war has decent skill in compared to scythe gsword gaxe polearm ect the easiest way to "encourage" war to use em is nerf dual weild slightly.

War is good with Axe. That's why a lot use them.

Or make 2-handed weapons give more TP.

Yeah I forgot to mention axe although i'm pretty sure everyone know war can use an axe. Thats the whole reason Se wants to make War use other weapons as well. Since a large numer of the other weapon options for war are 2H weapons and SE mentioned that they dont want all warriors to be war/nin. since /nin is all about the ability to dual weild the most logical idea to lower the number of war/nin would be nerfing dual weild

One of the great things about warriors is their ability to use many different weapons. We are planning to add benefits to those who utilize this great variety of weapons. We see the current trend is for warriors to almost exclusively use ninja as their support job. In the future we want to create benefits for players that use support jobs besides ninja. Also, we are thinking about making it possible for warriors to throw their axes in battle

Nerfing Dual Wield would be pointless. SE wants to create benefits for different subjobs, not nerf some.

Who knows, warrior might get some sort of Job trait that speeds up their 2H attack speeds. Everything is left up to speculation right now and we won't know until they announce the changes for Warrior.

Yeah, I actually thought that after what I wrote for WAR lol Basically instead of Nerfing, they make what was once weak, strong again.

Alright, my bad. I didn't remember them explicitly saying that.

Increasing TP on 2h weapons would help, but it still won't convince 99% of war's to use a great sword instead of a great axe in any situation.

I honestly see no legible way for SE to make me want to use any 2h weapon aside from Great Axe in pretty much any scenario (aside from being the last possible melee option to close a lv3 sc with a specific melee-rare ws, such as Retribution). They would have to raise our skill rating and allow us to cap higher, but then that nullifies other jobs who are more proficient.

Edit:

o snap. Lowering delay on 2h weapons, or providing some sort of inherent haste% when wielding them, would be hot.

Or even better - DUAL WIELD 2H!

"But a scythe? Really?

Were you guys out tending a field and just got called into battle?

I'm sure you had time to go home and get a real weapon. I don't see anyone coming in with a damned tractor, so you could have done your part."

Unless I'm missing something, the MPK fix seems like an unnecessarily complicated solution. Why not just make it so the mob doesn't go yellow as long as somebody from the group with the claim is damaging it?

That's the problem. Sometimes a short lull in damage comes, like if they are kiting the mob to try and raise people and whatnot. Now, even if it goes yellow, it can't be stolen unless the people on the side can get more hate than the person kiting the mob, which will pretty be hard if it is really far into the fight.

There are always lapses in the damage dealing, especially when the claiming LS has "minor technical difficulties" that may not cause the shell to wipe, but may induce some stalling or pauses in DD.

aiiiieee!!!

[Besieged Prisoners]

After Besieged is over, some NPCs in Al Zahbi are taken to the enemy base as prisoners. These NPCs are chosen randomly, and will disappear from town when they are captured. Depending on the NPCs captured, you may lose the ability to purchase goods at certain shops or use the auction house. You can free a captive by acquiring and using the key to their prison.

That'll suck if we lose...

So all of bastoks NPC's will be in Jail?

Imagine if all the quest npc for unlocking the new jobs got kipnapped for the first few days? It would be hilarious.
