Upgrading Gateway P-6860FX to play FFXIV

Specs of my three year old laptop are here.

The benchmark varied from the 500s to the 1000s when I tested it, and things were noticably laggy when I played the beta. I was thinking of buying a new chip for it (eyeing the t9300 CPU that runs 2.5GHz), but I was wondering if I'd be better off holding off until the PS3 release.

The things that are causing indecision is that a chip upgrade will not come cheaply, are hard to find because its old, and also, lol gaming laptop. Also, I've been meaning to buy a PS3 for awhile now.

So I was wondering, maybe someone here might by chance have this same laptop too, or something comparable.

What say you about the upgrade idea? Will it be worth it?

Your laptop can run 14 beta, but mine can't. BRB going emo because HP wont update my driver.

Also, I'd say no. If you have the tech skills, or know someone that has them, build your own PC. It's cheap.

May as well put my AA to use, rusty as my skills may be. Thanks for the input.

The play is just fine now, lag isn't much as it was before. I think the extra clock speed will do me good.
