Use of the English Language

That was a generalized comment, not directed towards anyone in this thread.

As for the swearing, I've had a bad night and needed to vent. So rather than breaking something I chose to vent verbally about something completely unrelated to the source of my anger. ;)
 
As of this moment I am leaving the flame are for good. It is my opinion as I quote from my journal, "That Flame board can turn good people into bad people and turn bad people into worse people."

Looks like I already got some people that would like to see me chopped up, shot or hung. Blackkite! Don't know what I did to get in your shit list but seeing as I never see you online to clear it up - so be it. I will always be confused to understand why you hate me so. All I can do is wait until you are online to talk it out.

I must be unedumacated as well then, Kea...since I enjoy using these words jokingly. Does not mean I actually think that is the proper spelling, or grammar.
 
Lol is basically like using w. They are shortended versions of almost the same thing. Using lol "laugh out loud" (who actually does this though o.o) or w "warau" isnt that much different. Sure we could use many expresive words that mean the same thing, but when typing in a video game many people like to use abreviations to save time.

As for the auto translator joke's, I only use them with NA friends jokeingly becuase its just a play off of words. I generally dont use them that way when speaking to japanese players cuase I know they would not get it most the time cause the words can have very different meanings in japanese. For example the <I'm back!> and the <back>. In english they both could mean the same things but in Japanese <back> could me senaka or ura (not sure exactly).

As for n00b and gimp, just slang used for insults mainly :\. We use em a lot but is it really any different than other cultures use of slang?
 
well i'm a "thug" or whatever you want to call it in real life. if you see me and my friends, bunch of mexicans, tatts, blunts and a bottle of henny. hear how we talk, you cross the street. see me when i was a salesman, hand over your wallet, i'm telling you what you need, just sign here all in "proper" english.

it took me 2 months of playing this game before i would use lol, it took a few weeks to learn what they hell it was. also ^^, i thought was like a code for something. all the computer talk i learned over the last year, and i like lol better than typing "thats funny" if i wanted to use proper english i would go take some english classes or something.

there is a time and place to get proper, when you are at home hanging out playing a video game, i dont think you should feel required to puncuate everything. if you feel the need to puncuate everything thats your perogative.

most of the time i type well, but sometimes(especially when i'm running) you'll see the u, ur, and stuff like that. i never capitalize or punctuate in game, unless its a sentence that needs it. periods and exclamation points arent really needed in straighforward sentence.

so take the silver spoon out of your ass, rinse it off(unless you like the taste), and shove it in your mouth.

One that completely agreed with you. daresay, /no1 is an emote from RagnarokOnline. Turdtard was flat-out sarcasm....beyond that...just....please explain to me what you thought I was trying to be funny with, because I was actually totally agreeing with you and you SHOT IT DOWN. Thats almost like shooting down your own post.

I always looked up to Kea, Lavi and Paleblue, personally. Just dunno why Kea constantly (and I mean everything that she hears from/about me) shoots me down, for no real reason. "You kill Argus wrong"? Bullsh-!t. ¬_¬

A very wise quote from a very ignorant young lady. I"m not trying to be mean just stating a fact that I see. The stuff you brought here is by no means something a "good" person would bring. Calling a group of people "trash" is something only a truely ignorant person would write.
 
I'm not going after anyone in particular, just outliining my thoughts.

There is a saying. Do onto others, as you would have others do onto you.
Todays lesson, As you do onto others, some will do onto you.

Insulting a modern english slang, in one of it's motherly outlets, has proven to make the modern slang people examine the stone caster. In defense, the slang users, state questions as to what makes onother person greater.

I personally do not dispise anyone here, as i know what it is to really hate and be hated, Learn to love your enemy, and you'll soon see how many trendy slang words, colour their way into being canadates for the evolution of our great language.


One can openly understand them, many will reject them, and there is no reason to degrade people who adopt humorous fourm. Seeing something ironic or dramatically un-ordinary, good or bad is a great thing. To address it as "Owned" sheds a whole new light on the speculation, and i for one accept that, even when dealing with serious bussiness.

On a personal nobody likes every slang. Nor did any of us write the English language.

Kea was my first linkleader, Lavi was a big sack holder.

Though Lavi was very nice and helpful to me, as a beginner. Kea treated me like crap. Eventhough there were so many nice people in that LS, in all, I'd say Kea made my first LS experience unpleasant. After that, I didn't care too much about having one at all.

In essence, it was that I was a newer player than her, and had nothing to offer. In return, I got nothing when I asked for her help or advice.

She's done this to a few others I know. Please don't take her personally.

She doesn't seem to bother doing that for anyone, anyhow.

And about "lol" or w/e you're telling me that when a pt is talking and you find something funny you actually say "Laugh out loud!" I would love to see that shit really.

Besides that whats it matter to you? If anything you dont like our english then stop playin a damn game to where you saying "O my god, I don't like how you're using improper grammer" is an every 5 minute occasion, because you're not going to get anyone to stop playing/typing that way...

I may say that shit sometimes, always joking of course but what does that make me? A nerd/geek/loser ??? Yes because I say that online because (yes I'm a lazy bastard and we all know it) like to say lol instead of the ellongated version laugh out loud, I'm a nerd/geek/loser with acne problems .... A lot of people over exaggerate the actually use of this internet shorthand. It reminds me of the microsoft article that said people who use this l337 speek are possible hackers. These assumptions/exaggerations make it seem worse than it is.

Althought i personally don't mind many of the abbreviations, i agree that some of them get out of hand. Like that girls paper that kea had posted is a bit out of hand. I suggest you stop worrying about the lols and owns, and start worrying about people using the out of hand ones.
 
I know I'm a bit late on topic, but there are a couple of points I would like to address, but first let me appologize for any spelling mistakes I make, because I'm sure there will be plenty.

One looking down on someone who abrevates thing out of lazyness, how do you determin it is lazyness? If you can not see the person face to face and actually hear the words comming out of their mouth, how do you know all the spelling and gramatical errors are not occuring for another reason (l337 speak is obviously exempt from the example ^^)? I will use myself as an example, I was born in the united states, but shortly after birth, my parents and I mooved to asia (South Korea to be specific). My parents did what they could to teach me english, but it became obvious it was not going to be my first or second language, and fate would have not my third iether. Even now at my old age, there is still alot I do not know about english, it's sad really. But I hope this makes my points.

As for these Chavs as you call them, my wife and I have a name for them too. But the general purpose term for them here in the parts of San diego where I live regardless of the pigmentation of their skin (as long as they really aren't black hehe) is Whigger.
