I'd feel bad for him, but SE has a point on this one. :D Easiest way to disable 3rd party progames is to take out the windowers...
 
I guess this mass temp-banning streak will cut down on lag for a few days, lol, enjoy this weekend of banning to all those who use the windower. I guess we'll just hafta take it up the rear if we need to see a website for maps/quest info. Go Go SE for finally cracking down on cheaters. And just on an irony note: People have said for MONTHS as an arguement FOR third party programs: What about all the people using windower, they're using a third party program and they don't get in trouble...
 
thier biggest complaint with the new windower is all of the "new" features that give you an edge over everyone else. Useing the windower to simply acces a map site or coffer mobs isnt what the problem is.

the GM actualy says as much at the start.

on a side note, that GM is an ass.
 
but PS2 owners can just go over to thier PC that doesnt run FFXI (unless your only internet is through your PS2) and do the same thing. PC users cant, unless we own a SECOND computer.

if he haddnt added all those new features, i doubt this would have happened.

What if your computer is used buy another.

Windowers have the advantage. Its third party. Its cheating.
 
PC has the disadvantage of, if it IS your only web, you're liable to be booted by the other person. *grumble* damn sister *grumble*

regardless:
old windower: .5 on the cheat scale
new windower: 8 on the cheat scale

so why don't you just log on to the PS2 version and then get on your computer while playing the PS2 and buy some gil over your computer? hmm? Computer users should get a window ability... I like to look up craft ingrediants and when the next full moon and such will be while I'm playing the game. I also like to talk to people on AIM while I'm sitting around waiting for things to start up at an event. It's annoying. The PC version should come with a windower. If you really think a PC with a windower is an advantage over the PS2 player which has a computer they could use as well.. I wonder how exactly...
 
Son you are lost research the new windower. Its god damn cheating plain and simple. Yes PS2 can go to a computer (If they have one avalible) and look up the map...blah blah blah.. but with a PS2 you can not see others TP and all the other bull sh**. Before you step with your big brass balls (and I have to say it agin) DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! Windower has a cheating advantage.......NEXT
 
whoopy do.. you can see their TP. what's the big deal? does that matter? the only thing that does is make an alliance fight a bit more smoother.. even then people don't pay attention as much to another's TP on the side as they do on what they monster is doing and what they should be doing. As a melee I usually listen to sounds of the calls to go and a quick glance at the message box.. The TP shit isn't a big deal at all.. yet they still don't do shit about all the cheating bots and the packet sniffers and shit.
 
Third party programs are the devil. Back when I used to play Asherons Call, a third party program called Decal came out that allowed you to figure out spell components to learn new spells. (saving hours of trial and error research) Telling you what items a monster was GOING to drop. Once items are on the ground you could set the program to run and pick them up for you...I meen cmon!!

Also with decal came the UCM's (Unattended combat macro) You could stand your character in a high spawn area of monsters that gave great XP and let the UCM run while you were at work, sleeping, showering, whatever! This program would even buff your character to make sure they wouldnt die...reload your ammo clip if you where an archer like me!

What I am saying is with the windower comes a whole host of potential programs that could RUIN the game, just like Asherons Call. The way this game is party dependant and the combat system is FAR more complex that AC a UMC is not a huge concern to me.

That makes no sense. You can only see TP of members in your party/alliance, not targets and enemies.
 
I think it's funny how the windower is illegal, but packet sniffing programs are perfectly fine... :roll:

There was a slight problem with TParty. If your target HP % display is messed up, redownload Windower 3.2, a fixed TParty is now there. Also, note that you need the new version of FFXiMain.dll for the plugins to function.


There were reports that in a ballista match this was used for an advantage. Due to this there were corrections made. This is not how ever the only bug.
 
Want to talk about unfair advantages?

PS2: No fair! You have a higher resolution than I do!
PC: No fair? Well, what about the fact you can use a large screen tv?! I say that’s unfair when I’m stuck with a dinky 17” monitor!
PS2: Well, you get to see the mobs from further away!
PC: What about you being able to voke faster?
PS2: You’ve had this game for a whole year longer!

How is being able to minimize this game an advantage? If anything, it’s a disadvantage. Most people are probably running at least 2 other programs in the background such as alla and a music player. Most of which will cause massive lag in some towns.

PS2: Well, you get to see online!

So? If that’s the case, then anyone playing with a laptop beside them or a computer in the same room is cheating. Might as well include Brady Game Guide readers, too. (Maybe not. That thing sucks! :wink: )

Guess what? You can send someone real money and they will lvl your character, send you gil, even get you items. You don't even need a windower to do it either. :lol: Just because it’s possible to cheat, doesn’t mean people will. And just because SE bans one way to cheat doesn’t mean there isn’t another one just waiting. It took archbell 2 days to get another windower up after that last update. And he’s doing it for free. Can you imagine how quickly the gilsellers had it back up considering they are making real money off of it?

PS2: I don’t get a windowed version, so you shouldn’t either.

Why would you want one? Is it even possible to play another game on PS2 while playing FFXI?

I like windowed version. I used to get kicked on a regular basis without it. “FFXI lost full screen mode”, “pol error 1160”, etc. This game should have come windowed to begin with.

I’ll be honest, it isn’t 3rd party users I dislike. It’s gilsellers. Sure, a good portion of 3rd party users are gilsellers, but most gilsellers are NOT 3rd party users. They are the 20 people camping chyme. They are the full party sitting outside boyuda tree killing every goobue. You don’t need programs to do that and they don’t have it. What they have is sheer numbers and the ability to be online 24/7. And will SE get rid of them? Probably not. They pay their money just like the rest of us. :roll:

SE says they are cracking down, but on whom? Who are the major cheaters? NA? JP? EU? The Chinese? Gilsellers? Gilbuyers? We’ll see, but I have my gil on it not being the right people. “So, you got rid of the JP voke botter in Castle Oztroja. But I still see 12 gilsellers camping Kote.” “Oh, they aren’t using 3rd party programs, so we cannot do anything at this time.” This is what I expect to hear. :?

You keep harping on the TP report of this new windower (At least when you finally admitted that that is why you think it's a cheat. And Ele is right. You only see the TP of party members.). However, 99% of the people using it are using it for the ability to minimize. SE just needs to update it and give PC a windowed version.
