Um.... wut?
I lol'd at the guy in Darsha's vid, only because he's friggen crazy.
I did watch a lil of the original video, but only for so long. It got annoying very quickly and damn that girl can't sing.
Anywho, @Skaw.. sorta, I dunno. I don't see what the big deal is with calling black people 'African Americans' sure, they may have been born in the states, but the whole reason for the term 'African American' is because they originated in freaking Africa. They weren't native to America, infact.. well there's only one race that was native to America.. and they were appropriately given the name of .... Native Americans. We don't go around calling ourselves (white people) English Americans. Even so, the 'N word' has always been derogative in my eyes. Personally I don't understand how black folks can even go around calling themselves it. It just boggles my mind how somehow it's okay for a black person to call them selves a '+++++' when that's only simple slang for the same word that's been used to degrade their whole race when they were slaves.
Personally I think the whole word should never be mentioned, but I know that will never happen. It's somehow become just another term for black/African to those of that race. I just can't understand what makes it acceptable. I hate the word myself. I hate hearing it. Granted there are some really dumb motherfucking people out there that think the word is okay to say of all races. It's never been okay to say. In my eyes, it never will be no matter who you are. When I hear someone being called the N word, I normally get really mad.
With all that said. The OP, I feel, used it properly. That person he called it was being incredibly racist and ignorant and definitely wasn't doing her culture and race any favors. I really do hate people of any race that disgrace the human race by such intolerance and vulgarity. I like to think we live in an age where acceptance of differences is appreciated and understood, even if the individuals may not exactly understand one another. There should be the ability at least appreciate the fact that we aren't all the same, completely. In my opinion racism is completely and utterly useless and only breeds unneeded hatred. But by that measure, respect is something to be earned not freely given. You have to show some respect in order to get it back. That is the way the world works. Too many people have forgotten this though, and so ignorance is born.
I hate ignorance, but I am human too, therefore cannot help to be ignorant in some regards. After all, no one is perfect but, we can all do our part to make ourselves not look like asses.
Um.. heh, well I hope I haven't said too much. I will admit, I haven't read this whole thread, but I feel I've read enough.
