So er... wait... what's so illegal and unmentionable about the PH information on an NM that drops a rare/ex item? =/ This is just a silly attitude to hold, lol.

Holding mobs was put in the ToS to stop JPs from holding HNMs so that they could keep them in their prime time, not so you can claim VE "illegally".

regardless, if someone calls a GM on you, you can get into trouble because of it. Holding any sort of PH or NM for yourself IS against the ToS

GM's arent gonna do shit, they will ask you to kill the mob or let it go unclaimed in a specific amount of time before they will get you in trouble. I remember it happening at KA before, a group of folks kept one of the non NM crabs that pops before him so they could get more people there.

Yes. I both hate and love idiots that camp without widescan.

Hate, because the fuckers throw off my widescanning. Love, because they almost never get claim against me, unless Emp spawns really close to them.

Depends on the GM. I had gilsellers removed from Fei'Yin at Western Shadow for holding bats to screw with peoples targeting. In my GM Call, I accused them of stalling. lol

A fucking men, people need to learn how placeholders work, it's not just "kill every fly you come in contact with" keeping track of one mob is a lot easier than running around like a retard just killing everything in sight.

Anyway, here's how I camped VE:

1. Find placeholder (already explained)
2. Kill placeholder
3. Use a 5 minute JA to keep track of when the next PH will spawn
4. Repeat until VE spawns
5. ????
6. Profit!

On WS, the VE placeholder is #1 on the list of the 4 flies. Like this....

This is the way to camp it. Also go thf/rng Kill the first fly on set after the leeches , use sharpshot ability make a macro ( /recast "Sharpshot") 20 sec. before sharpshot timer is up start spamming wide scan. Either V.E will pop or its PH rinse and repeat.

BTW make sure you have plenty of inventory space because you will be claiming with steal. If your inventory is full you may miss a claim.

Truth. I got lucky and went 1/2 on VE with my alt. Widescan makes it ridiculously easy, and the second time we claimed it against about 6 JP CCers who were running around killing every fly that moved, including some that were -way- out of range.

This made me think of a SS a friend of mine sent me from his server.

Had to block out his name because of some issues taking place.
Also, notice how the GM made a mistake, I encircled it with red lol.

I remember camping VE for roughly 3h (missed the first pop while I was away a bit)...no CCers, then suddenly VE is on widescan so I flee to it, some WAR is engaged to it with like 3 flies in tow for some reason. I'm let down, but then I see the WAR die, and he delevels (to like...31.)

Ran up, Hexa'd it, 1/1. =P
 
Bah that NM dont like me, I've killed it three times with no pin drop, once it popped right in front of me, thought it was my lucky day till he dropped a insect wing.....

I quite often see people camping it, I always thought it was a 2hr spawn thou?

Mee Deggi, Lizzy, VE, Ose...most people will say that they all spawn 2h on average, though they're all prone to spawning much faster or slower than that estimate. It's sortof a number most people hope for so they don't get too bored if the NM doesn't pop for, say, 8 hours like Ose sometimes tends to do.

Also, that whole "killing non-PHs slows down the rate the NM spawns" thing is the worst load of crap ever (if it were true, Orctrap would pretty much never ever spawn), so try not to fret if you see people killing the wrong mobs and junk. If anything it just gives you a better chance in case the PH pops while they're busy fighting the wrong mob.
 
Okay, having never leveled a job with widescan I'm not getting this whole 4th fly bs. Is it because I"m using a level 1 bst widescan? Because theres never a point when I can get all 4 flies on my WS List - the WS Area is too small. I'm now like day 6 w/o a pin or boots :(

Oh yeah and t(-. -t)> to all those chumps who camp and don't kill placeholders.

Try /RNG, gives a lot larger Widescan at Lv1, than /BST.
Should be able to cover the VE area iirc.
