The game comes out at the end of the month and if you pre-order it you get two additional missions.

* Exercise vs Class E - This is a clean-up war exercise against rival class E, which will take place in all of the areas of Leanbluff forest.
* Exercise vs Class F - Go against Class F, Avan’s rival class, and run through stonewalling defense and take over their camp in Arlem.

Store / In-Store Pickup Customers: A code and instructions on how to redeem your 2 additional single player missions will be printed on your receipt at time of purchase.

I'm a big fan of the first game so I'm going to pick this one up as well.

I got really really into this game... then SC:2 came out >< I want to go back to it. I will pick this up for sure!

I'm kinda sad its for a handheld instead of my ps3, but I'll be getting it anyways. The first game was such a fresh take on Strategy RPG games.

oh it isn't on PS3... nevermind!

The first game is one of my favorite games of this generation of consoles but I am unsure if I will follow it onto the handhelds.

I'm only a few months in but this game is definitely as good as the first. I'm actually enjoying it far, far more, which I didn't think would be possible given how grand the first is. The way they have everything set up is just perfect and the way battles are done now definitly make it a lot more interesting. I'll be sad to see it go back to the PS3, if the choose, unless they retain this format. The leveling and class system is a lot more fleshed out as well, some really neat stuff goin' on there as well as now being able to acquire parts (loot) from battle aside from Aces to build up your toys. The only flaw I'd say is that Normal is too easy if you already know what's up and if there is a Hard mode you have to unlock it first. Anyway, buy it and help that VC3 domain be for more than just dibs.

The voice acting isn't bad at all (the text time chuckles and one liners aside), except for Crispin Freeman being on board (thankfully not the main character). It's really odd listening to it all though, especially the carry over cast, having played the first with the original voice track. For those that preferred that in the first one, an undub should hit fairly soon. I took a peek into the files, they're actually laid out super, super neat which is unusual and is what makes the process a pain, and all the voice files are in one pack. I just don't have a proper patcher nor did I care to bother since the pros will hit it up soon enough with the way the format is.

Just got this. So far it seems to be all the amazing goodness of the first game. I'm not far enough in to see the new improvements yet. Though if they move the series back to ps3 I don't see why the new improvements wouldn't carry over.

Most of these improvements are to cope with the portable system. Kind of like with Peace Walker, that format is to make it more portable, same here. I consider these to be better than their console counter parts but they are not really improvements in the game when looked upon by the most important group, it's labeled by the makers as making the game more suitable for a hand held.

That aside, I'm sure all of the things like the bigger class system, parts from battle, etc. carry over, so I'm not really referring to those things.

Is the changes you are talking about the fact that they divide up combat into multiple areas?

That's one of the changes they had to make because of hardware limitations, yeah. However, I kind of like it better than a single front. It adds a little more strategy to the mix. However, as I progress I'm finding it a very easy system to exploit. Example: most missions have multiple camps each linked to a different area. Find the one that opens up the map you need to complete the objective on, if the mission isn't kill based, and bam, Scout rush like old times. If you save before every mission and go do a trial run to find out the proper link site it's just easy A ranks all around if your mind is completely in tune with how VC1 worked. However, this kind of stuff wont cut it on Hard, you'll just get gunned down. On normal, with Avan you can take hits like a concrete wall. In hard I don't see it working because giving orders now takes up way to many CP to be useful for a rush tactic.

Double post.

Yeah I noticed that way to exploit the game as well stride. The first few times I filled up all my deployments, but then I realized its better to just save CP and only start off with a few in the first map. Honestly I liked the first games system better. I really enjoyed being able to do battle on a huge field vs 3-4 smaller areas.

Ele, you don't NEED to play the first game, but it makes a lot of references and has cameos that you'd enjoy more with knowledge of the first one.

Well I'm told and I've read and scene that the first is still a fun experience :P so I don't see why I shouldn't play it, I just wondered if I should play it before the second. Good to know. I think I'll pick them both up in the near future (maybe on my lunch break today).

I never said don't play the first <_< Just that you don't NEED it to play this.

I didn't say you said that :D I was just stating that I prolly should play the first for the sake of the game :P

I would play the first, first. That way it doesn't ruin it when you find out a certain something about someone's race. That was a pretty defining moment in the first game. If you don't care about one or two spoilers then play order doesn't matter, you wont be lost with what is going on. However, there really is no reason to just jump into the second, it's not going anywhere.

Ah man! It's out today isn't it? >.<
September is going to be a good PSP month. Got Phantasy Star and Kingdom Hearts one week after another.
More worried about how I am going to afford all the games more then when I'll be able to play..

The undub is up and so far (5 hours on it) everything is perfect. If you guys want it and can't find it let me know.

Just a warning, try Kingdom Hearts before you buy it. Square forgot to pack quality in this one, not that any of them since the first have been past OK, but this one is just pitiful.
