Anyone else annoyed by this "Vana'diel Casino" thing that's been going on in Bastok over the last couple days? I don't mind the casin itself as much as I mind the 10-line shouts every 10 minutes. :?
 
Was just a matter of time before something like that would pop up. Used to be very popular (as in lots of people tried to run one) in many other MMOs.

Easy way to make a pretty penny too, because the bank always wins. If you pull it off without to be too annoying, and make the right clientele, the people who lose money will have some fun, and you will make a shitload of gil.

Those casino's are right up there with the escorts, both make huge sums of gil if run right.
 
I think the idea is fucking incredible.
I just wonder when some mom is gonna see their 12 year old child "gambling" and find some way to screw it all up. Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children!!!
People are too sensitive about "shouting". Its not like you really hear it. Its not like you can't b-list it. It isnt real shouting. That would be annoying. Just like all the guys on the Strip in Vegas who try to hand you stuff. Try dealing with THAT in front of a casino!

I know its not new to ffxi I have seen it on Asura server and on shiva. the spam is horrible and gets on my nervs but thats why i turn on all filters :P
 
OMG... I hate those things...

Last weekend, I was taking the ferry from Selbina to Mhaura, and one guy on the boat started spamming "ne1 went 2 gamble? Com up on dek!" After shouting that 3-4 times every 10 seconds, one of his friends got into the mood. "C'mon! Let's have sum fun!" In the end, they got two other players interested...

Of course, they were right in the middle of the deck, so anywhere I went, I just kept hearing them doing /random, /emotes, /says and /shouts... Man, I turned on all my filters, save for my /linkshell and battle ones so I wouldn't go mad for the duration of the trip.

I admit I secretly wished a Sea Horror would spam right above their heads. ...Never happened.

haha every ten minutes... I had my mule out the other day in bastok, trying to get rid of some ore. I came back about half an hour later to make sure I was still connected.. crappy connection, and saw almost nothing in my log except for their shouts. It started off as just one guy, who would throw out about a four line /sh, but then friends/helpers/whatever joined in and started their variations on it. So now I have three - four line shouts going up over and over agian to the point where they started intermingling with each other. Then people started shouting for them to tone it down, like it would help, and all they did was add to the mess.

If people dont turn a seemingly good idea into a shitastic annoyance fest i dont have a problem but unfortunately it appears ye of many shouts are working for the worst. Our ls is tryin to do a lottery thing right now and tommorow and saturday we are have level 1 races through dangerous areas for money.
 
It's going on in Sandy as well. Someone mentioned escorts above as well. I hadn't seen that before...but saw someone shouting about it today. WTF?? I guess I don't get the whole idea...but then again I'm not a 30 year old virgin or a 12 year old boy.

You trade your bet (100-3000 gil) to the person who's running it, and do a dice roll (/random, which generates a number between 1-999) If you get 699-899 you get double your money, 899-999 triple it. 1-699, you're out some gil. (I think those number ranges are correct) No matter what happens the person running it makes a boatload of gil.

I don't mind the gambling myself (though I would never spend my hard-farmed gil on it), I just hate the constant shouting!

me, i bought over 200 zinc ores, if making money isnt that simple where i am shouting for someone to sell commonly gained items, i think thats important (DAMN the tenshodo DAMN them i say,)
 
The casino has reached lower Jeuno, while I don't hate the idea, the shout spam is getting on my nerves.
